Abstract
Description
The invention relates to the processing of radioactive waste and can be used in the curing of waste low and medium levels of activity by including them in organic binders.
6, 1983).The method of bituminous liquid radioactive waste consists in displacing the waste solution with molten bitumen in the apparatus (bitumen), distilling off the water at 140 160 o C and then unloading the resulting compound from the apparatus. The indicated method is widely used in Russia and abroad (A. Nikiforov et al. Processing and solidification of radioactive waste from nuclear power plants. Atomic energy, vol. 55, issue 6, 1983).
A specific category of waste is spent filter perlite pulp formed at nuclear power plants with RBMK and radiochemical plants. Filtroperlite (TU 21-31-44-82) used in nuclear energy is a powder with a particle size of about 80 microns. The bulk density of perlite is not more than 150 kg / m 3 and the specific surface reaches 2 5 m 2 / g.
The main components of perlite are silicon oxide 75% alumina 17% sodium and potassium oxides 7% as well as a number of metal oxides.
370 373). Closest to the invention is a method of incorporating spent filter perlite pulps into a bitumen binder (Yakushev M.F. Fomin Yu.K. and Davydov V.I. Practice of LRW butumming at batch plants. Atomic energy, vol. 49, issue 6, 1980 , p. 370 373).
The disadvantage of this method is the limitation of the degree of filling of the bitumen compound. The maximum degree of fulfillment is determined by the prevention of obtaining a compound with a viscosity of more than 4.0 Pa • s (40 Poise) at operating temperatures of the process 140 150 o C. If the specified viscosity values are exceeded, the temperature of unloading the compound from the apparatus, for example, when bituminizing filter perlite containing 15% products corrosion (Fe (OH) 3 , α Fe 2 O 3 ), and the degree of filling above 15% will be above 160 o C. The compound in this case is a very thick, almost non-fluid mass. Raising the temperature to 180 o C for such compounds slightly reduces their viscosity (up to 2 3 Pa • s). With an increase in the degree of filling up to 20%, a grain-like mass is obtained that has practically no bond between the filler particles. Thus, in order to exclude strong thickening of the compound, to ensure uniform mixing of the mass and to prevent malfunctions in the operation of the bitumator (clogging of the discharge unit, “goat” in the apparatus, etc.), the maximum degree of inclusion of filter perlite in bitumen should not exceed 15%
The objective of the invention was to develop a process to obtain a compound with a higher content of filter perlite waste in it.
Положительным фактором изобретения является и соответствующее снижение расхода связующего (с 9 т до 1,2 1,5 на 1 т фильтроперлита).The essence of the invention lies in the fact that in the known method of hardening filter perlite pulps containing radioactive waste, by incorporating the pulps in the molten bitumen, followed by moisture distillation, the pulps are subjected to preliminary mechanical processing by grinding before incorporation into the bitumen. During grinding, the bulk density of filter perlite is increased from 0.13 to 0.6 g / cm 3 . The filter perlite thus treated is then mixed with molten bitumen and the moisture is distilled off. The content of filter perlite in the final product is 40 to 50%. The ratio of the volume of filler: binder when bituminizing untreated filter perlite is approximately 1.35: 1. After machining, this ratio increases to 1.66: 1, which is probably due to a change in the shape of the grain of filter perlite and a decrease in the volume of closed pores. As a result, the degree of filling of the compound increases to 40 50%
An increase in the degree of filling from 10 15 to 40 50% allows reducing the volume of the buried compound by 4–5 times, which is the main economic effect due to the high cost of storage and transportation of radioactive materials. A positive factor of the invention is the corresponding reduction in binder consumption (from 9 t to 1.2 1.5 per 1 t of filter perlite).
Example 1. The pulp of filter perlite was subjected to grinding on a mechanical grinder to a bulk density of 0.6 g / cm 3 . After that, the resulting mass was mixed with molten
Example 2. The pulp of filter perlite worked out in Example 1 was mixed with molten bitumen at the rate of 50% filling by dry solids. After heating to 140-150 ° C., the mixture was kept at this temperature until complete dehydration. The residual moisture content of the resulting compound was less than 1%, the rate of leaching of radionuclides of the order of 10 -5 g / cm 2 day.
The table shows the possible options for the process of bitumen filtroperlite pulps.
