Abstract
Description
The invention relates to mechanical engineering and presents the opportunity to increase the strength and / or wear resistance and / or corrosion resistance of products by ion implantation after final machining without reducing the processing class, as well as carry out other types of surface modifications.
п.) A known method of surface modification by implantation of ions obtained using high energy ion sources. In this case, the product is placed in a vacuum chamber where an ion beam is injected, formed by an ion source with an accelerating ion-optical system, to the elements of which a stationary or pulsed high-voltage voltage is applied. The said ion beam is directed to the workpiece. The disadvantage of this method is the relatively high cost and complex technology of sources of high energy ions and the need, in most cases, to develop and manufacture special manipulators that move the hardened product under the beam to ensure uniform ion implantation [1]
There is a method of modifying the surface of products, in which the products are placed in a vacuum chamber with permanent magnets mounted on its outer surface, forming a multipole magnetic field layer on the inner surface, where plasma is created by ionizing the rarefied gas by an electron beam injected into the chamber from a special electron source ( the mentioned multipole magnetic layer complicates the leakage of plasma onto the wall, which allows its density to be maintained at the required level). High voltage voltage pulses are fed to the product, which pull and accelerate ions from the plasma, and they, being introduced into the surface of the product, modify it in a predetermined manner. The disadvantage of this method is its increased cost due to the use of a large number (usually about 1000 pieces / m 2 ) of expensive permanent magnets, as well as the inability to simultaneously load a large number of products in order to increase the efficiency of use of equipment, which is caused by the appearance of a large unprotected multipole magnetic field in the implantation chamber the surface on which the plasma dies at an increased rate, as a result of which its density decreases below the level of expediency of using the method for surface modification [2]
The technical result of the proposed method is to reduce the cost of the operation of irradiating the modified surfaces with streams of fast ions, while ensuring the necessary degree of modification (increase strength, increase wear resistance, increase corrosion resistance, etc.) of surfaces.
The technical result is achieved by modifying the surface of the product by implantation of fast ions, according to which the product is placed in a metal chamber, a plasma is created in the chamber and an electric potential is supplied to the product, which allows the ions to be drawn out of the plasma and accelerated. Plasma is created by an electric discharge between an additional electrode installed in the chamber and the chamber wall. The duration of the negative voltage pulse that is supplied to the product does not exceed the development time of the self-discharge at a potential equal to that applied to the product. A high voltage potential pulse is supplied to the product no earlier than the establishment of a stationary plasma mode after the potential is applied to the additional electrode.
Plasma electric discharge in a rarefied gas has long been used to modify the surfaces of products. However, the low energy of ions entering from the plasma to a surface of the workpiece (on the order of one or a few tens of electron-volts) dictated the need to maintain the workpiece at a temperature of 500-600 ° C, to obtain the desired rate of diffusion of the implant into the material of the workpiece, which is accompanied by annealing and warping of products. The application of high-voltage voltage pulses to the product immersed in the plasma eliminates the need to maintain the product at elevated temperatures, since accelerated ions penetrate deep into the surface and at room temperatures. Additional deepening of implantable ions into the workpiece occurs due to radiation-stimulated diffusion. The components of the proposed method have been used in engineering and technology for a long time, but in the proposed new combination they give a significant reduction in the cost of implementing the surface modification process by implanting ions.
The drawing shows one of the possible installation options, allowing to implement a modification of the surfaces of the proposed method.
An
To implement the proposed method for surface modification with a product area of 4x1 m 2 and a dose of nitrogen ions of 3 · 10 21 ions / m 2, in a typical case, the nitrogen pressure 5-8 · 10 -3 Torr (0.1 Pa) is set in
In the proposed method does not create a multipole magnetic layer on the walls of the chambers. At a certain cost of permanent magnets, the density of the installation of magnets and the surface of the chamber, the manufacture of one installation that implements the proposed method is much cheaper. With large dimensions of the chamber, when the manufacture of a thin-walled version becomes difficult, it is necessary to compare the proposed method with an analogue (see above). In analogue, the most expensive device is a source of high energy ions.
