Abstract
Description
The invention relates to a quantitative analysis of a mixture of heavy fissile nuclei in various environments.
Known radiometric [1] and radiation-chemical [2] methods for determining the number of heavy fissile nuclei are either not sensitive enough or time-consuming, require a large number of chemical reagents and analytes.
Closest to the claimed method is a neutron activation analysis [3]
The disadvantage of neutron activation analysis is the low sensitivity in the presence of other nuclides in the sample, the activation of which in the neutron field complicates the emission spectra and the identification of fission products from them. In addition, the semiconductor detectors used for these purposes have low (≈10 -3 pulse / quantum) gamma-ray detection efficiency, and scintillation detectors have insufficient resolution.
An object of the invention is to increase the sensitivity and reduce the complexity of the quantitative analysis of a mixture of heavy fissile nuclei in various environments.
The stated object is achieved in that the sample containing the mixture of heavy fissioning nuclei are irradiated in a neutron field (reactor), then after irradiation the sample is heated to a temperature at which all the gaseous fission products are formed (GPA) emerge from it (500-1500 ° C) into a closed container, which is then purged with a carrier gas, for example helium. Next, the carrier gas together with the GPA (xenon and krypton radionuclides) is fed to a chromatographic column, where the GPA mixture is separated into its constituent parts. Next, the activity of each of the separated components of the GPA is measured.
∑ aijmi= bj (1) где mi количество i-х тяжелых ядер;
The amount of each of the heavy fissile nuclei in the sample is determined from the system of equations
∑ a ij m i = b j (1) where m i is the number of i-heavy nuclei;
b j activity of the j-th component of the GPA.
aij= Φ σfi• y1-ee
The coefficients aij are either calculated by the formula
a ij = Φ σ fi • y 1st e
(2) where Φ is the neutron flux density; σ fi the microscopic cross section of the fission of the i-th heavy nucleus; y ijk the output of the k-th radionuclide (isotope) of the j-th GPA in the fission of the i-th heavy nucleus; λ jk decay constant; η jk is the registration efficiency of the jkth radionuclide; t p time of irradiation of the sample in a neutron field; t b the cooling time of the sample, or determined experimentally. In the latter case, it is necessary to prepare samples with known amounts of all heavy fissile nuclei to be quantified and measure them using the above method, i.e. the inverse problem is solved by the known m i and b j are determined by a ij .
The completeness of the GPA output from the sample upon heating is determined by re-heating the sample and measuring the radioactivity of the GPA components separated on the chromatographic column. Lack of activity indicates the full yield of GPA from the sample. If, during repeated heating and measurement, the presence of radioactive components in the gas is recorded, then using the two above-mentioned measurements, the total activity of each of the GPA components at any time after the end of irradiation can be determined using the activation model of gas evolution:
dQ k / dt - (d k + λ k ) Q k ; (3)
dP k / dt d k Q k λ k P k , where Q k and P k the number of nuclei of the k-th radionuclide after irradiation in the sample and measured accordingly; d k the leakage rate of the nuclei of the k-th radionuclide from the sample material.
Qk Qok eхр [-( λk + αk) tb]
Pk αkQk λ
Qok.The system solution has the form
Q k Q ok exp [- (λ k + α k ) t b ]
P k α k Q k λ
When measuring the total activity of xenon radionuclides, it should be borne in mind that at t b <1 h, the main radionuclide that determines activity is xenon-138, at t b <1 day the activity is determined by xenon-135 radionuclide, and at t b > 3 days xenon -133. The first and second measurements of the activity of the GPA that emerged from the sample allow us to determine the values of α k and Q k , and through them the initial activity Q ok .
Qo(88Kr).The activity of krypton radionuclides at t b > 0.5 h is determined by the activities of kryptons 87 and 88. Taking into account the ratio α (Kr) 2α (хе) and calculating the ratio Q o ( 87 Kr) / Q o ( 88 Kr), we can determine the absolute the quantities Q o ( 87 Kr) and Q o ( 88 Kr).
The sensitivity of the proposed method can be estimated from the following equation:
I / m = Φ σ fi y 1st e (5) where A i and N are the atomic weights of the i-th heavy fissile nuclide and Avogadro's number, respectively.
When the neutron flux density Φ = 10 13 n / cm 2 · s, the output of the Kth nuclide in the division Y ik 5 · 10 -2 , the efficiency of radioactivity registration 1, t p 300 s, t b 1800 s, the sensitivity will be ≈10 10 pulses / g.

PRI me R. A sample of earth was placed in a quartz ampoule, onto which 0.01 cm 3 of aqueous solutions with a concentration of uranium-235 0.963 · 10 -7 g / cm 3 and PuO 2 (NO 3 ) 2 with a concentration of plutonium-239 1.0034 · were applied 10 -7 g / cm 3 . Next, the evacuated and sealed ampoule with the sample was irradiated at the airmail of the VVR-Ts reactor. The exposure time t p 300 s To determine the thermal neutron fluence, a witness dosimeter was irradiated with a sample. Thus, the sample contained m u 9.63 · 10 -10 g and m pu 10.034 · 10 -10 g
After irradiation, the ampoule with the sample was placed in a device for crushing it (ampoules) connected to an XTM-73-GL chromatograph. After purging the device with pure helium and heating to 600 ° C after 1800 s from the start of irradiation, the chromatograph was switched on to the automatic mode and the ampoule with the sample was crushed at the moment of switching on the accumulation mode. The GPA released from the sample was carried out by the carrier gas (helium) and accumulated in the thermodynamic storage device of the chromatograph. The gas flow rate in the accumulation mode was ≈ 800 cm 3 / min with a crushing device volume of ≈50 cm 3 . The accumulation mode lasted 90 s. Next, the chromatograph was switched to the “analysis” mode and the concentrated sample entered the separation column of the chromatograph. Measurement of the β-activity of the samples was carried out using a 4π-gas flow meter of the “Flow” type with a recording efficiency of unity. The recounter measured the number of pulses every 10 s with an exposure of 10 s without a pause. The result was recorded on a printing device. A repeated measurement cycle showed the full yield of the GPA from the sample in the first cycle.
7.The measurement results (see drawing) were processed using the spline function. The distance between the maxima of the chromatographic peaks of krypton and xenon was ≈ 80 s. According to the measurement results, the coefficients b 1 and b 2 of equation (1) were determined. The coefficients a ij were calculated by the formula (2), where the thermal neutron flux density Φ (3.5-0.75) · 10 13 n / cm 2 · s was determined experimentally. The fission cross sections of plutonium-239 and uranium-235 in the neutron field of the VVR-Ts reactor were determined at a neutron gas temperature of 340 K and a crosslink of the Fermi and Maxwell spectra α gr 7.

(I / m) s.x N / Aλ i η α (7) where λ i is the decay constant of the i-th heavy fissile nuclide;
η α alpha particle detection efficiency.
(I/m)/(I/m)н.а= ηβ / ηγ •e
The division of formula (5), which determines the sensitivity of the proposed method, by formulas (6) and (7) gives
(I / m) / (I / m) n.a = η β / η γ • e
for all transuranic nuclei.
(I/m)/(I/m)p.x ∈
(I / m) / (I / m) px ∈
Thus, the proposed method has an obvious significant advantage in sensitivity compared to known methods.
