Abstract
The invention relates to an X-ray technique. The use of an X-ray source provides an increase in the life of the device with increased radiation intensity and a different wavelength, which depends on the number of sealed X-ray tubes used. In this utility model, a drum with threaded through holes is used in which the X-ray tubes are mounted sealed tubes. During the rotation of the drum, the optimal wavelength of x-ray radiation is selected. The number of generated x-ray wavelengths is the same as the number of x-ray tubes used. Using a device with the function of varying the wavelength allows you to expand the scope of its application.
Description
The utility model relates to x-ray technology, namely to x-ray sources, in particular to compact x-ray sources.
At present, modern geology, medical equipment, security systems, as well as advanced analytical and technological equipment, feel an urgent need for creating portable miniature x-ray sources with low energy consumption for the operational analysis of the structure of various objects. Electron and probe microscopy provide an image of the surface of objects. In many ways, the properties of materials are related to their internal structure. To obtain information, chips and thin sections are often used, or layer-by-layer etching of the surface by an ion beam. But these destructive and expensive methods do not provide complete and operational information about the object, about its internal state. There are a number of problems with both the preparation of samples for research and the interpretation of the results. Recently, thin multilayer structures, for example, used as an anode of an x-ray source, have become relevant. A feature of such structures is the strength and X-ray transparency. Moreover, the strength of the structure withstands the pressure drop of 1 atmosphere, that is, it provides the ability to work in vacuum, which is necessary for the process of exposure of the metal layer of the anode by electrons. To control such thin nanoscale structures, short-wave sources are required. On the other hand, the base (substrate) on which thin layers are applied, or several substrates spliced together, has a thickness of hundreds of microns. Therefore, a long-wavelength source will be required during the study. Therefore, the development of x-ray sources with a tunable wavelength is a practically significant task.
[1].A known source of x-ray radiation containing a cathode, an anti-cathode, a window, a vacuum or gas-filled working volume, means for generating electronic flows and a cell power system [1].
The disadvantages of the device include complex repair of the structure, since disassembling the anticathode is a difficult task after sealing the source for evacuation or gas filling of the working volume.
[2].The known design of the field emission tube to facilitate the replacement of the cathode, which includes a cathode, anode, gate, a connecting element between the cathode and the gate, an element that prevents rotation (displacement) of the cathode [2].
The design flaws include replacement of the cathode only. For example, in field emission cathodes, the life of the cathode and anode is comparable. Therefore, in the event of failure of the anode, the entire tube will have to be changed, which reduces the profitability of using x-ray sources.
[3].A known design of an x-ray tube and a method for generating polarized radiation, comprising a cathode and an anode mounted in a housing, at least a portion of the anode of the specified x-ray tube, which is designed to make collisions with electrons emitted from the cathode, is made mainly of beryllium to obtain at least partially polarized radiation and it is adapted for filtering the generated x-ray radiation, with the suppression of at least partial cl or the polarized part of the spectrum indicated by at least partially polarized x-ray radiation [3].
The disadvantages include the toxicity and carcinogenicity of the beryllium material during the formation of the anode (for humans), as well as during the operation of the device. Experimental studies and clinical observations indicate that the basis of the mechanism of action of beryllium on the human body is a change in protein metabolism, leading to disruption of the activity of individual enzymes and the development of an autoimmune process. A significant role in the pathogenesis of the disease is played by the sensitization of the body by beryllium compounds. The main route of penetration of beryllium and its compounds are the respiratory system; Beryllium is deposited in the bones, lungs, lymph nodes, liver, and also in the heart muscle. Spraying of the material of the anode occurs with direct contact of the operator with the anode. In addition, the use of one type of film allows you to get only one wavelength of x-ray radiation, which narrows the amount of information about the object.
[4].A known technical solution of an x-ray source, including a rotating anode, an electron source. X-ray radiation is generated by coinciding the directions of the electron beam and the centrifugal force rotating the anode [4].
The disadvantages of the invention include the change in the properties of the anode material after heating above the melting point, which introduces mechanical stresses that change the distance between the atoms of the material, and therefore, the focus of x-ray radiation. It is also difficult to achieve high accuracy of coincidence of the directions of the electron beam and the centrifugal force acting on the anode target. In addition, for constant melting of different areas of the target material of the anode, it is required to maintain high electron emission. This can lead to thermal degradation of the electron source.
The closest in technical essence is an X-ray source [5], containing a vacuum housing, an anode with through open, or blind, or both channels with conductive walls, configured to supply them with a given potential and containing material capable of emitting X-ray radiation upon irradiation by electrons of sufficient energy, a cathode, a window for x-ray radiation and auxiliary means, the anode being made with the possibility of direct attachment to the housing, the anode channels containing m material or different target materials along their entire length or part of their length and made with a characteristic cross-sectional size in the range from 0.001 to 1.0 of the channel length, either directed to the same point, called the focus, or to several points , foci, or at the set of points that specify the desired pattern, and the window is either adjacent to the anode, or in one node with it or in its composition so that it adjoins the surface of the anode from the closed ends of the blind channels or from any one side, if all channels are open.
The disadvantage of the prototype is the complexity of manufacturing x-ray channels of the anode at different angles. Through holes in the anode require the introduction of an additional element in the structure to seal the device in order to form a vacuum.
In addition, a part of the electron flux from the cathode is lost, falling into the gaps between the openings of the anode channels, which reduces the maximum value of x-ray radiation, including at the focal point.
Also, the intensity of one cathode is insufficient to generate a sufficient electron flux for each channel in the anode. In the case of increasing the voltage at the cathode to achieve the required intensity, the likelihood of thermal degradation of the cathode increases, therefore, the service life is reduced.
The disadvantages of the prototype include the impossibility of obtaining radiation from a specific material of the target of the anode, since with each exposure of the anode the electrons enter all channels simultaneously. Therefore, x-ray waves overlap each other at the focal point, which leads to interference in the detection of the signal.
The objective of this utility model is to increase the intensity of x-ray radiation, increase the life of the device, and adjust the wavelength of x-ray radiation.
The problem is solved in that they produce an x-ray source, which includes a vacuum housing, a cathode, an anode containing various materials for generating x-rays with different wavelengths, and a matrix is used in the form of a drum with a set of sealed x-ray tubes, including cathodes and anodes.
In the proposed utility model, sealed X-ray tubes with a vacuum atmosphere inside the housing are used. This tube is mounted in the drum through a threaded connection. The drum is a cylinder with through holes in which the thread is made.
The increase in x-ray intensity is ensured by using a separate cathode for each anode target, that is, one anode and one cathode are used in each x-ray tube.
Increasing the life of the device is achieved through the use of several x-ray tubes. The tubes are used alternately, that is, at the same time voltage is applied to one tube in the drum. This allows you to increase the operating time of the device, as well as adjust the wavelength of x-ray radiation.
In FIG. 1 shows the design of the device, where: 1 - a matrix in the form of a drum, 2 - a gear wheel, 3 - a sealed X-ray tube, 4 - an electrode for supplying voltage, 5 - a high voltage source, 6 - a display showing the time during which voltage is applied , as well as the magnitude of the voltage. In FIG. 2 shows a drum structure with threaded through holes. In FIG. 3 shows a model of a sealed x-ray tube, where: 7 - anode, 8 - vacuum housing, 9 - cathode.
X-ray source works as follows. Under the action of high voltage, electrons from the cathode are injected into the anode. In the process of collision with the atoms of the metal film of the anode target, bremsstrahlung radiation occurs. To prevent thermal degradation of the cathode tip, a high voltage is alternately applied to various x-ray tubes.
A specific example of execution. First, an anode matrix is made. On a silicon base 670 μm thick, silicon oxide 600 nm, silicon nitride 130 nm and a tungsten layer are deposited on the front side (the choice of material depends on the required wavelength) 400 nm. After that, a 500 nm layer of aluminum is deposited on the reverse side. Photolithography is performed on the back of the base. Sequentially remove parts of materials that are not protected by the mask: aluminum, silicon nitride, silicon oxide and silicon. The structure is then divided into crystals. Each crystal is a circle-shaped tungsten anode with a diameter of 1.4 mm on a square silicon base with a side of 6 mm.
Next, a matrix of cathodes is made. On a silicon base 670 μm thick, silicon oxide 600 nm and silicon nitride 130 nm are deposited on the front side. Photolithography is then carried out to form cathode cylinders. After that, unprotected layers of silicon nitride 130 nm, silicon oxide 600 nm and
The next step is to mount one or more x-ray tubes (depending on how many x-ray lengths are required), connecting the crystals with individual cathodes and anodes from the matrices. Then a voltage of 10 kV is applied and X-ray radiation is recorded.
As a result of using an x-ray source, it is possible to increase the life of the device with an increased radiation intensity and a different wavelength, which depends on the number of sealed x-ray tubes used.
