Abstract

Two feeding systems supply upper and lower(11') facing layers to a primer application unit(5) before a foamed core is formed between both layers. The primer applicator includes a feed line(51) for the primer, a revolving plate(52) with one or more side outlets(55) for dispersing the primer and a drive unit(54) for the plate. Typically there are 5-12 outlets(55) in the revolving plate(52), each with a diameter of 0.5-2 mm. Plate diameter is 50-100 mm and the plate rotates at 2500-8000 rev/minute. Conveyer speed is 2-20 m/minute. Primer application rate is 200-1600 g/minute. An independent claim is included for a process for manufacturing composite sandwich panels using the claimed equipment.
