Abstract

A slurry distributor includes a distribution conduit and a slurry wiping mechanism. The slurry wiping mechanism includes a movable wiper blade in contacting relationship with a bottom surface of the distribution conduit. The wiper blade is reciprocally movable between a first position and a second position over a clearing path, which is disposed adjacent a distribution outlet of the distribution conduit. The wiping mechanism helps solve the problem of slurry accumulating on the underside (or bottom surface) of the distribution conduit. The accumulated slurry could adhere to the underside of the distribution conduit and set over time. Eventually, this hardened material could break free from the distribution conduit and cause process upsets downstream from the distribution conduit (e.g., paper breaks when manufacturing gypsum wallboard).
