Abstract
Description
Foreliggende oppfinnelse angår et bionedbrytbart filter ifølge patentkravs 1 ingress. The present invention relates to a biodegradable filter according to patent claim 1 preamble.
Such filter cigarettes have been described many times before. However, there is a disadvantage of all previously described cigarette filters in that biodegradable filters have a clear effect on the smoke taste that arises from the use of different materials and which has always led to cigarettes produced with material other than the usual cellulose acetate being rejected by smokers. A further disadvantage, particularly in the case of filters produced from biodegradable cellulose, was also the clear visual difference in appearance of the filter end. In the past, this has meant that biodegradable filters have not been accepted as monofilters on the acetate filter market.
The purpose of the present invention is therefore to produce a filter cigarette of the specified type which provides an "acetate-typical" taste experience and an "acetate-typical" optical appearance while retaining the advantages of the known filter cigarette.
According to the invention, this purpose is achieved by the features given in the characterizing part of claim 1.
Suitable versions are defined by the features of the independent requirements.
The advantages achieved by the invention depend on the selection of a special cellulose material and on the design of a filter cigarette structure that matches it with adaptation of essential parameters, namely the retention performance of the filter, the nicotine/condensate ratio in the tobacco part of the cigarette, the packing density of the tobacco mixture in the cigarette part, the air permeability of the cigarette paper and finally the degree of filter ventilation in the structural direction which optimizes the taste experience on the one hand and the optical appeal on the other hand. The amount of nicotine in the filter cigarette is up to a maximum of 1 mg and the amount of condensate from 6 mg to 12 mg.
The desirable ventilation of 15-50% can be established by the corresponding design of the ventilation zone in the wrapping paper and packaging.
According to a preferred embodiment, the ventilation zone of the filter is composed of one or two series of holes at least 10 mm from the mouth side end; the holes can either be produced by laser radiation or mechanically on the finished cigarette and should be as small as possible and not very visible, where good results can be achieved with 15-25 holes in two rows of ventilation.
Surprisingly, it has been found that the acetate-typical taste experience and the acetate-typical optical appeal can only be achieved if the filter is produced from a cellulose material produced by means of the so-called "air-laid" process to a tangled chip, and this is further processed "unshrunk" which gives the finished filter. In this process, a suitable combination of gram weight, thickness and width of the air-laid tile can be achieved according to the desired filter draw resistance and thus the degree of retention.
In the air-laid process as described in, for example, US patent 4,375,447, the manufactured cellulose fibers are not suspended in water as in the standard papermaking process, passed for sheeting to a permeable screen on which the cellulose fibers, conditioned either by painting or fibrillation, cross-linked with each other mechanically, but are carried maximally separated into a current of air which transports them on a permeable continuous sieve and stacks them arbitrarily on the latter. This gives an almost cotton-like voluminous tile which thus does not provide any mechanical strength or fiber binding. A mechanical bond and thus the necessary mechanical strength that is required for further processing is achieved by adding a binder such as, for example, polyvinyl alcohol, polyvinyl acetate, polymer starch, dextrin or latex. The degree of density (g/cm<3>) and thus the voluminousness or thickness is set by the subsequent calendering. The gram weight (g/m<2>) is controlled via the screening speed or the addition of fibers to the air flow.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to embodiments: The filter cigarette has a tobacco part surrounded by cigarette paper and a filter connected to the tobacco part. The packing density of the tobacco mixture is between 200 and 250 mg/ml. The tensile strength of the cigarette part is between 45 and 65 mm water column pressure measurement, closed measurement.
The cigarette paper has a low to medium air permeability in the range from 15 to 50 Coresta units. Nicotine* 10/condensate on the cigarette part of the tobacco mixture should be between 0.6 and 0.9.
The filter consists of folded "unshrunk" air-laid chips folded together and surrounded by a porous wrapping paper. A zone porous cover paper surrounds the wrapping paper and serves to secure the filter to the tobacco portion of the cigarette. The air permeability of the porous zone of the wrapping paper is selected so that the desired degree of filter ventilation causes the wrapping paper to lie below it. Tests with such a filter in combination with the specific tobacco part of the cigarette have led to a condensate amount of 6-12 mg and a nicotine amount of a maximum of 1 mg. Tests with experienced long-term smokers show that such cigarettes cannot be distinguished from cigarettes produced with ordinary acetate filters.
