De uitvinding heeft betrekking op een nieuwe opper-vlakte-actieve stof van het silicaat-type.
De nieuwe qppervlakte-aetieve stof volgons de uitvinding heeft de formule 1 waarin R waterstof, alkyl, alkenyl, aryl of 5 aralkyl voorstelt, R' onafhankelijk dezelfde betekenis heeft als R met dien verstande dat tenminste het merendeel van de groepen R' aan elk Si-atoom sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen met tenminste 3 koolstofatomen zijn, R" alkyl of alkenyl met 1-20 koolstof atomen voorstelt, R"' waterstof of methyl voorstelt en n gelijk is aan ongeveer 5-50.
10 Bij voorkeur stellen R en R' waterstof, alkyl of alke nyl met ongeveer 1-18 koolstofatomen of aryl of aralkyl met ongeveer 6-24 koolstofatomen voor, en meer bij voorkeur waterstof, alkyl met ongeveer 1-8 koolstofatomen of aryl of aralkyl met ongeveer 6-14 koolstofatomen, met dien verstande dat tenminste het merendeel van de R' groepen 15 sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen zijn met tenminste 3 koolstofatomen, in het algemeen ongeveer 3-24 koolstofatomen en bij voorkeur ongeveer 4-12 koolstofatomen.
Onder sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen worden verstaan alkylgroepen die aan het molecuul bestendigheid tegen hydrolyse verlenen, 20 dat wil zeggen de reactie van water met silicium-zuurstof of koolstof-zuurstof bindingen in het molecuul belemmeren. Voorbeelden van sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen zijn niet-ineaire primaire alkylgroepen met een β-zijketen met tenminste 2 koolstofatomen, secondaire alkylgroepen en tertiaire alkylgroepen. Sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen die de voorkeur 25 hebben omvatten sec.butyl, isobutyl, 2-ethylbutyl, 2-ethylpentyl, 3-ethyl-pentyl, 2-ethylhexyl, 3-ethylhexyl en 2,4-dimethyl-3-pentyl, met de meeste voorkeur voor sec.butyl.
R" stelt bij voorkeur alkyl met ongeveer 1-12 koolstofatomen voor bijvoorbeeld methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, pentyl of 7904586 3 t £ t 2 hexyl, en bij voorkeur een lage alkylgroep in het bijzonder methyl.
De waarde voor n bedraagt bij voorkeur ongeveer 10-30 en meer bij voorkeur ongeveer 15-30.
Bij voorkeur stelt in ongeveer 0-80 % en meer bij voor-5 keur ongeveer 0-50 % van de groepen R"' R"' methyl voor. Bijzon- -(0CH2-CH)-, dere voorkeur hebben verbindingen met de formule 1 waarin R"' waterstof voorstelt.
Een voorkeursverbinding volgens de uitvinding is die 10 met de formule 2 waarin R" en n boven aangegeven betekenis hebben.
De verbindingen volgens de uitvinding worden bij voorkeur bereid door reactie van een poly-gealkoxyleerde lineaire alifatische alcohol en een bis-(trialkoxysiloxy)alkylhalogeensilaan. De poly-gealkoxy-leerde alcohol heeft de formule 3 waarin R" en R"' en n dezelfde beteke-15 nis hebben als in formule 1. Deze verbinding kan volgens gebruikelijke oxyalkylering worden bereid, bijvoorbeeld door condensatie bij aanwezigheid van een alkali-katalysator zoals kaliumhydroxyde van een lineaire alifatische alcohol met etheenoxyde, of etheenoxyde en propeenoxyde, hetzij tot een blokcopolymeer of tot een copolymeer waarin de eenheden wille-20 keurig zijn gerangschikt. De hoeveelheid propeenoxyde in het alkoxylerings- mengsel kan 0-80 gew.% bedragen en bedraagt bij voorkeur 0-50 gew.%. Aan 100 % etheenoxyde wordt bijzondere voorkeur gegeven. Het alkylhalogeen-silaan waarmee de poly-gealkoxyleerde alcohol tot reactie wordt gebracht heeft de formule 4 waarin Ren R' dezelfde betekenis hebben als in formule 25 1 en X fluor, chloor, broom of jood voorstelt, bij voorkeur chloor, broom of jood en meer bij voorkeur chloor. De verbindingen met de formule _4 en een bereidingswijze daarvoor zijn beschreven in het Amerikaanse octrooi-schrift 3.965.136 dat hier als ingelast wordt beschouwd.
Volgens een voorkeursuitvoeringsvorm wordt de reactie 30 van de poly-gealkoxyleerde alchol en het bis-(trialkoxysiloxy)alkylhalo- geensilaan uitgevoerd bij aanwezigheid van een halogeenwaterstof-acceptor. Als halogeenwaterstof-acceptor kan elke verbinding worden toegepast die halogeenwaterstof addeert waardoor de reactie wordt bevorderd. Bij voorkeur worden als acceptor tertiaire stikstofbasen met tenminste 3 kool-35 stof atomen gebruikt bijvoorbeeld lage alkyl en aryl tert.aminen zoals 7904586 Λ 3 triethylamine en trlbutylamina als ook al dan niet gesubstitueerd pyridine en N,N'-dinethylaniline. In plaats daarvan kunnen ook fase-overdrachts-katalysemethoden zoals gewoonlijk toegepast voor waterige niet-polaire oplosniddelsystemen worden gebruikt.
5 De reactie is weergegeven in schema A waarin Z een halogeenwaterstof-acceptor voorstelt en de overige symbolen hoger vermelde betekenis hebben. Hoewel volgens reaetieschema A een oplosmiddel wordt gebruikt is dit niet aoodzakelijk. Het oplosmiddel dient om de reactiesnelheid te vertragen en daarmee de scheiding van acceptor-halo-10 geenwaterstof Z.HX van de gevormde verbinding te bevorderen. Als oplosmiddel kan elk niet-protisch oplosmiddel waarin de reactanten oplosbaar zijn en dat geen invloed op de reactie heeft, worden gebruikt, bijvoorbeeld benzeen, tolueen, xyleen, petxoleumether met een hoog kookpunt en andere ethers zoals tetrahydrofuran.
15 In het algemeen worden de reactanten in stoechiome- trische hoeveelheden met elkaar tot elkaar tot reactie gebracht. De hoeveelheid oplosmiddel is niet kritisch. Ook de halogeenwaterstof-acceptor wordt gewoonlijk in een stoechiometrische hoeveelheid berekend op de hoeveelheid bis-(trialkoxysiloxy)alkylhalogeensilaan, toegepast. De 20 reactie kan worden uitgevoerd bij kamertemperatuur of hogere of lagere temperatuur, bijvoorbeeld bij -30° C tot de terugvloeitemperatuur van het bestanddeel met het laagste kookpunt, en bij voorkeur bij een tenqoeratuur van ongeveer 0-100° C. Volgens een voorkeursuitvoeringsvorm wordt de reactie ingezet bij omgevingstemperatuur en voltooid bij hogere tempera-25 tuur om de reactie zo ver mogelijk te laten verlopen. Het product kan op gebruikelijke wijze worden afgezonderd zoals door filtreren of destilleren, afhankelijk van de gewenste zuiverheid en de toepassing van het product.
De oppervlakte-actieve stoffen volgens de uitvinding 30 kunnen voor velerlei toepassingen worden gebruikt zoals als reinigingsmiddel of emulgator. Ook komen zij in aanmerking voor niet-waterige oppervlakte-toepas singen zoals in urethanschuim.
De nieuwe oppervlakte-actieve stoffen volgens de uitvinding onderscheiden zich van de gebruikelijke oppervlakte-actieve 35 stoffen van het silicaat-type daarin dat zij meer bestendig zijn tegen 79 0 4 5 8 6

hydrolyse ten gevolge van de afscherming van de siliciumatomen door de sterisch gehinderde groepen. Hun werking is net als van een silicoon bij het verlagen van oppervlaktespanning. Verder zijn zij oplosbaar in water of olie afhankelijk van de aard van de hydrofiele groep in de formule 1.
5 Voorbeeld I
Bereiding van polyethyleenglycol mono-methylether.
Hen bracht in een 500 ml rondbodem voorzien van een magnetische roerder, thermometer, geealibreerde druppeltrechter, stik· 10 stofinleidbuis en een droog-ijskeeler 24 g (0,2 mol) diethyleenglycol mono-methylether en 0,2 g kaliumhydroxyde als katalysator. Een hoeveelheid van 160 g (3,6 mol) etheenoxyde werd met de druppeltrechter onder roeren in een stikstofatmosfeer druppelsgewijs toegevoegd aan de glycol-ether bij een temperatuur van 140-165° C. Na afloop van het toevoegen 15 werd het reactieproduct (184 g) gekoeld. De verhouding glycolether en etheenoxyde bedroeg 1; 18 en de verhouding methyl en etheenoxyde 1:20.
Het molecuulgewicht bedroeg 912.
Voorbeeld II
Bereiding van methoxy-ethoxy-bis(tributoxysiloxy)methylsilaan.

Hen bracht in een driehalsrondbodem voorzien van een magnetische roerder 30,4 g (0,033 mol) van de in voorbeeld I bereide polyethyleenglycol mono-methylether, 2,8 g (0,035 mol) pyridine en 50 g tolueen. Nadat de kolf was voorzien van een thermometer, druppeltrechter 25 en luchtkoeler werden 20,1 g (0,033 mol) bis(tributoxysiloxy)methylchloor- silaan gemengd met 50 g tolueen druppelsgewijs toegevoegd onder roerei bij omgevingstemperatuur. Tijdens de reactie precipiteerde wit adduct van pyridine en chloorwaterstof. Na 1 uur was de additie voltooid waarna de temperatuur werd verhoogd tot 70° C en de reactie nog 2 uren werd voort-30 gezet om haar te voltooien. Na afloop werd het reactiemengsel gekoeld tot omgevingstemperatuur en gefiltreerd. Het heldere filtraat werd in een rotatieverdamper verwarmd tot een temperatuur van 70° C onder de verminderde druk van een waterstraalpomp gedurende 7 uren om overmaat pyridine en tolueen zo volledig mogelijk te verwijderen. Na afloop werd het pro-35 duet gekoeld. Aldus werden 47,3 g (theoretisch 48,8 g, opbrengst 97 %) 7904585 -.. 5 9 bis(tributoxysiloxy)methylsilaan-ethoxymethyl adduct verkregen.
Voorbeeld III-v
Op dezelfde wijze als in voorbeeld II werden de in onderstaande tabel A aangegeven methoxy-ethoxy-bi s(tributoxysiloxy)methy1-5 silaan oppervlakte-actieve stoffen bereid. De omstandigheden waaronder zijn eveneens aangegeven.

Oplossingen van de producten van voorbeeld Il-V zijn 35 gedurende 12 dagen stabiel. Oppervlakte-actieve stoffen bereid uit een 7904585 T- >t Λ 6 hydrofoob polyisopropylsilicaat daarentegen hydrolyseren binnen 24 uren. Ook na 40 dagen staan is de oppervlaktespanning nog goed tot uitstekend zoals blijkt uit onderstaande gegevens: oppervlaktespanning, dyn/cm, 0.001 * oplossing 5 Begin Wa 40 dagen

Claims (22)
1. Oppervlakte-actieve stof gekenmerkt door de formule 1 waarin R een waterstofatoom, alkyl-, alkenyl-, aryl- of aralkylgroep voorstelt, R' onafhankelijk dezelfde betekenis heeft als R met dien ver- 5 stande dat tenminste het merendeel van de R' groepen aan elk Si-atoom bestut uit sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen met tenminste 3 koolstof-atomen, RN een alkyl- of alkenylgroep met ongeveer 1-20 koolstofatomen voorstelt, R"' onafhankelijk een waterstofatoom of methylgroep voorstelt, en n een getal is van ongeveer 5-50. 10 2· Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat R een waterstofatoom, alkyl- of alkenylgroep met ongeveer 1-18 koolstofatomen of een aryl- of aralkylgroep met ongeveer 6-24 koolstofatomen voorstelt en R' onafhankelijk dezelfde betekenis heeft als R onder behoud van de in conclusie 1 gestelde voorwaarde·
3. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 2, met het kenmerk, dat het merendeel van de R' groepen bestaat uit sterisch gehinderde alkylgroepen met ongeveer 3-24 koolstofatomen·
4. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk· dat R een waterstofatoom, alkylgroep met ongeveer 1-8 kool- 20 stofatomen of een aryl of aralkylgroep met ongeveer 6-14 koolstofatomen voorstelt en R' onafhankelijk dezelfde betekenis heeft als R onder behoud van de in conclusie 1 aangegeven voorwaarde·
5. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 4, met het kenmerk, dat R' een sterisch gehinderde alkylgroep met ongeveer 4- 25 12 koolstofatomen voorstelt.
6. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat R een methylgroep en R* een sec.butylgroep voorstellen.
7. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat R" een alkylgroep met ongeveer 1-12 koolstofatomen voor- 30 stelt.
8. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 7, met het kenmerk, dat RH een alkylgroep met ongeveer 1-4 koolstofatomen voor-stelt.

15. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 1, met het kenmerk, dat de stof een verbinding is met de formule 2.
16. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 15, met het kenmerk, dat R" een alkylgroep met ongeveer 1-12 koolstofatomen voor- 20 stelt en n een getal is van ongeveer 10-30.
17. Oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens conclusie 16, met het kenmerk, dat R" een methylgroep voorstelt en n een getal is van ongeveer 15-30.
18. Werkwijze voor het bereiden van een oppervlakte-25 actieve stof, met het kenmerk, dat een verbinding met de formule 1 zoals omschreven in conclusie 1 wordt bereid door reactie van een poly-gealkoxy-leerde alcohol met de formule 3 en een bis(trialkoxysiloxy)alkylhalogeen- t si laan met de formule 4 waarin R, R', RH, RM' en n de in conclusie 1 aangegeven betekenis hebben en X een halogeenatoom voorstelt,
19. Werkwijze volgens conclusie 18, met het kenmerk, dat de reactie wordt uitgevoerd bij aanwezigheid van een halogeenwater-stof-acceptor.
20. Werkwijze volgens conclusie 18 of 19, met het kenmerk, dat de reactie wordt uitgevoerd in een oplosmiddel.
21. Werkwijze volgens één der conclusies 18-20, met 7904586 -** * 9 het kenmerk/ dat de reactie wordt uitgevoerd bij een temperatuur van ongeveer 0-100° C.
22. Reinigingsmiddel, en emulgator op basis van een oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens één der conclusies 1-17. 5 23. ürethanschuim verkregen onder toepassing van een oppervlakte-actieve stof volgens één der conclusies 1-17.
