Abstract

Cycloalkanone and cycloalkanols of 5-12C are produced by the catalytic hydrogenation of cycloalkyl hydroperoxides using a finely-divided Gp. VIII noble metal catalyst suspended in the reaction medium. This process requires less catalyst while the yields and reaction rate are good even at temps. as low as 30 degrees C and at hydrogen partial pressures of ca. 1 atm.
