Abstract

The bed is particularly for patients who are confined to bed for long periods, e.g. old people, and comprises parallel resilient strips which are moved up and down in relation to parallel strips of a fixed portion. The strips are set in motion by a driven central eccentric (3). The motion can be transmitted via rollers (7) on the ends of pivoting rods (6) and thrust rods. The roller centre lines can lie on the lengthwise centre line of the bed, and the rod pivot points can be at the same distance from this line. Drive can be from an electric motor with reduction gear, producing approximately 1/3rd of a revolution per minute.
