Description

Subterranean waste collector and method for emptying such a subterranean waste collector The invention relates to a subterranean waste collec- tor, at least comprising a receptacle for receiving waste, which receptacle is at least in part provided below ground- level.
The invention also relates to a method of emptying such a subterranean waste collector.
Subterranean waste collectors are well known and ap- plied.
Such collectors are used to dump different types of waste, such as waste from gardens and vegetables, glass, paper etc.
Regularly the waste collectors are emptied with heavy trucks that lift the waste collectors and move them to a posi- tion behind the cabin, after which the bottom of the waste collectors is opened and the waste is released into the truck.
One thing and another is a relatively high burden to the envi- ronment and municipalities are looking for ways to reduce this burden.
The invention aims to provide more environment friendly solution and proposes to that end a subterranean waste collector and a method to empty such a subterranean waste collector in accordance with one or more of the appended claims.
In a first aspect of the invention the receptacle comprises a first tube and a second tube provided inside of the first tube, wherein waste can be deposited from above ground-level into the second tube and collected inside of the second tube below ground-level, and which second tube is pro- vided with one or more apertures or through holes, wherein the first tube and the second tube define a main area between the first tube and the second tube, and wherein an outlet of the second tube is connectable to a vacuum pump for reducing air pressure inside the second tube near the outlet, and to enable air passing into the inside of the second tube below the out- let through said one or more apertures or through holes of the second tube via the main area between the first tube and the second tube so as to enable removing said waste from the in- side of the second tube to the outlet above ground-level.
Accordingly a method to empty such a subterranean waste collector is proposed wherein the waste collector com- prises a first tube and a second tube inside of the first tube, wherein the second tube of said subterranean waste col- lector comprises an outlet above ground-level, and the second tube has one or more apertures or through holes, which method comprises the step of connecting a suction hose to the outlet of the second tube, and reducing the pressure in the second tube near the outlet whilst allowing air to enter into the in- side of the second tube through at least one of the apertures or through holes of the second tube via the main area between the first tube and second tube so as to enable sucking waste from inside the second tube towards the outlet.
One of the advantages of the subterranean waste col- lector and the method to empty such collector according to the invention is that no heavy lifting and lowering of the waste collector is required anymore, since emptying of the subterra- nean waste collector can be completely done without moving the collector from its place. The operation can therefore be exe- cuted more quickly, which reduces hinder and burden to the en- vironment.
An aspect of the subterranean waste collector of the invention is that it takes less space than prior art solu- tions.
Preferably the second tube is around its circumfer- ence provided with a series of apertures or through holes that are provided at a mutually different height or depth of the second tube, and that between any first aperture or through hole and a neighbouring second aperture or through hole which is at a different height or depth of the second tube than the first aperture or through hole, sealing means are provided to provide a gas seal between neighbouring individual areas with- in the main area, wherein each such individual area connects to the inside of the second tube through an aperture or through hole of the second tube.
In accordance with the invention it is preferred that the outlet is equipped to be connectable to a suction hose.
Preferably the neighbouring areas are each individu- ally and independently from each other closable above ground- level.
This makes possible to sequentially empty layers of waste within the second tube working from the top towards the bottom by connecting the suction hose to the outlet of the second tube, and to let sequentially air enter into the inside of the second tube via one of the neighbouring areas and through its aperture or through hole, so as to move waste ma- terial from the height of the concerning aperture or through hole from inside the second tube towards the outlet of the second tube above ground-level.
Preferably the series of apertures or through holes are distributed along the entire length of the second tube.
The invention will hereinafter be further elucidated with reference to the drawing of an exemplary embodiment of a subterranean waste collector according to the invention that is not limiting as to the appended claims.
-figures 1A and 1B schematically shows a subterranean waste collector of the invention in a (partly sectional) side view and frontal view, respectively; -figure 2 shows the subterranean waste collector of figures 1A/1B with a top-closure provided above ground-level moved sideways; -figure 3 provides a cross-sectional top view at the subterranean waste collector of the invention; and figure 4 shows a truck that can be used for execut- ing the method of the invention to empty the subterranean waste collector.
Whenever in the figures the same reference numerals are applied, these numerals refer to the same parts.
Making reference first to figures 1A/1B it shows a subterranean waste collector 1, having a receptacle 2 for re- ceiving waste. It is shown that the receptacle 2 is at least in part provided below ground-level 3, and partly above ground-level 3.
The receptacle 2 comprises a first tube 4 and a sec- ond tube 5 provided inside of the first tube 4, wherein waste can be deposited from above ground-level 3 through an inlet 6 into the second tube 5 and collected inside 5’ of the second tube 5 below ground-level 3.
To enable emptying the subterranean waste collector 1, figure 2 shows that the top closure part 7 of the waste collector 1 above ground-level 3 can be swivelled aside, to provide access to an outlet 8 of the waste collector 1 at the top of the second tube 5.
The following features of the subterranean waste col- lector 1 as shown in figures 1A/1B and figure 2 are indispen- sable for emptying the subterranean waste collector 1 accord- ing to the method of the invention, notably in the first place that the second tube 5 is provided with one or more apertures 9 — 15 or through holes. Preferably these apertures 9 - 15 or through holes are distributed along the length of the second tube 5.
Further the first tube 4 and the second tube 5 define a main area 16 between the first tube 4 and the second tube 5, which main area 16 enables air to enter into the inside 5’ of the second tube in a region of the second tube 5 below its outlet 8, when the outlet 8 of the second tube 5 is connected to a vacuum pump for reducing air pressure in the second tube 5 near its outlet 8 so as to move waste that is accumulated inside of the second tube 5 to the outlet 8 above ground-level
3.
The emptying operation is depicted in figure 4 where- in the vacuum pump is provided in the shown truck 27, and the outlet 8 is equipped to be connectable to a suction hose 28 that connects to the vacuum pump inside the truck 27.
It is schematically depicted in figures 1A/1B and figure 2 that preferably the second tube 5 is around its cir- cumference provided with a series of apertures 9 - 15 or through holes that are provided at a mutually different height or depth of the second tube 5. Figure 3 provides a cross- sectional top view at the subterranean waste collector 1 of the invention and should be looked at in combination with fig- ure 2.
Figures 2 and 3 depict that between any first aper- ture 9 - 15 and a neighbouring second aperture 9 - 15 which is at a different height or depth of the second tube 5 than the first aperture, sealing means 30 -36 are provided to provide a gas seal between neighbouring individual areas 20 - 26 within the main area 16 that extend top-down along the length of the second tube 5, wherein each such individual area 20 - 26 con- 5 nects at a different height to the inside 5’ of the second tube 5 through an associated aperture 9 - 15 or through hole of the second tube 5 within the concerning individual area 20 — 26. As an example take as a first aperture for instance ap- erture 10. Aperture 10 has two neighbouring second apertures 3 and 11 which are at a different height or depth of the second tube 5 than the first aperture 10. Sealing means 30 and 31 re- spectively are provided to provide a gas seal between neigh- bouring areas 20 - 21 and between neighbouring areas 21 - 22, respectively. Each of said individual areas 20-21-22 connects to the inside 5’ of the second tube 5 through an aperture 9- 10-11 of the second tube 5 at a different height of the second tube 5. The neighbouring areas 20-21-22 are individually clos- able above ground level 3 so as to arrange that when a suction hose 28 above ground level 3 is connected to the outlet 8 of the second tube 5, sequentially waste will be sucked out of the second tube 5 and removed from the level of the respective apertures 9-10-11, starting at the top and then going down; i.e. first waste is removed from the second tube 5 while air enters the second tube 5 through aperture 9, than through ap- erture 10, than through aperture 11, and so forth until the bottom aperture 15 is reached.
Although the invention has been discussed in the foregoing with reference to an exemplary embodiment of the subterranean waste collector and method to empty such a sub- terranean waste collector according to the invention, the in- vention is not restricted to this particular embodiment which can be varied in many ways without departing from the inven- tion.
