Abstract

An air conditioner has a refrigeration cycle having a heat exchanger (15), an air-blowing fan (16), a fan cleaner (24) that cleans the air-blowing fan (16) and a controller (30) that brings the fan cleaner (24) into contact with either of the air-blowing fan (16) and the heat exchanger (15) selectively. The controller (30) causes the refrigeration cycle to generate dew water in the heat exchanger (15), before bringing the fan cleaner (24) into contact with the heat exchanger (15) or while keeping the fan cleaner (24) in contact with the heat exchanger (15).
