Abstract
La presente invencion se refiere a un procedimiento hibrido quimico y biologico de descontaminacion de cienos de alcantarillado que contienen metales pesados y microorganismos patogenos, que comprende las etapas siguientes: mezclar los cienos con una solucion lixiviante acida para acidificar los cienos a un pH suficientemente bajo para solubilizar la mayoria de los metales pesados y destruir la mayoria de los microorganismos patogenos, pero suficientemente alto para minimizar la solubilizacion de los elementos fertilizantes; mantener un potencial de oxidacion-reduccion superior a +400 mV; separacion liquido-solido para dar una fraccion solida que comprende los cienos acidos descontaminados, y una fraccion liquida que comprende los metales pesados disueltos en la solucion lixiviante; neutralizacion de los cienos; y recuperacion de los cienos descontaminados neutralizados cuyo contenido de elementos fertilizantes, como carbono, nitrogeno y fosforo, permanece sustancialmente sin cambio con respecto a los cienos inicialmente contaminados.
