Abstract

Se describe una composicion de envainado para cable y su uso como vaina exterior para un cable de energía o un cable de comunicaciones; la composicion de envainado para cable es una mezcla multimodal, preferiblemente bimodal, de polímeros de olefina, preferiblemente plásticos de etileno, que tiene una densidad de aproximadamente 0.915-0-955 g/cm3 y una velocidad de flujo de baño fundido de aproximadamente 0.1-0-.3 g/10 min., dicha mezcla de polimero de olefina comprende por lo menos un primero y segundo polímeros de olefina de los cuales el primero tiene una densidad y una velocidad de flujo de baño fundido seleccionados de aproximadamente 0.930-0.975 g/cm3 y aproximadamente 50-2,000 y g/10 min, y de aproximadamente 0.88-0.93 g/cm3 y aproximadamente 0.1-0.8 g/10 min; preferiblemente, la mezcla de polímero de olefina ha sido obtenida mediante la polimerizacion catalizada en coordinacion de por lo menos una alfa-olefina en varias etapas, preferiblemente dos etapas consisten de un reactor de bucle/un reactor de fase de gas o un reactor de fase de gas/un reactor de fase de gas, a través de la polimerizacion o copolimerizacion del etileno en la primera etapa y la copolimerizacion del etileno con buteno, 4-metil-1-penteno, 1-hexeno o 1-octeno en la segunda etapa.
