Abstract

Un material en partículas inorgánico adecuado para usarse como un material de pigmento en una composicion de revestimiento de papel tiene una distribucion de tamaño de partícula que cuando es representada como una gráfica del porcentaje en peso de partículas que tienen un diámetro esférico equivalente (esd) definido más adelante de tamaño dado contra el esd de partícula expresado en micras y representado sobre una base logarítmica de escala 10, tiene las siguientes características: (a) una primera cresta en el tamaño de partícula grueso y una segunda cresta en el tamaño de partícula fino y una inclinacion o depresion entre la primera y segunda cresta, el tamaño de partícula medio X1 de las partículas que forman la primera cresta estando en la escala de 2 micras a 4 micras; y (b) la relacion entre dichas primera y segunda crestas siendo tales que el valor del tamaño de partícula medio X2 de las partículas que forman la segunda cresta está separado de dicha gráfica de distribucion de tamaño de partícula del valor de X1 en por lo menos 0.5; dicho material puede producirse mezclando un material de pigmento grueso y un material de pigmento fino que tienen distribucion apropiada de tamaño de partícula; el material grueso preferiblemente es carbonato de calcio; el material fino puede ser una o más composiciones de revestimiento que incorporan el material en partículas pueden utilizarse para papel de revestimiento para varias aplicaciones que incluyen impresion de inyeccion de tinta, papel de superficie mate para impresion indirecta y papel para periodico revestido.
