Abstract

Se describe un dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable; el dispositivo comprende una porción óptica curva frontal del dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable que comprende una superficie óptica superior curva frontal y una superficie óptica inferior curva frontal y una superficie óptica curva posterior del dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable que comprende un superficie óptica superior curva posterior y una superficie óptica inferior curva posterior; una cavidad está formada por la superficie óptica inferior curva frontal de la porción óptica curva frontal del dispositivo oftálmico variable y la superficie óptica superior curva posterior de la porción curva posterior del dispositivo oftálmico de foco variable; un fluido con un primer índice de refracción y una película dieléctrica está en contacto con al menos una porción del fluido con un primer índice de refracción y que se encuentra sobre un electrodo capaz de establecer un campo eléctrico; se provee un gas con un segundo índice de refracción, en donde el primer índice de refracción y el segundo índice de refracción son diferentes; se provee una o más regiones de depósito operables para cambiar su volumen para que contenga un volumen menor o igual al volumen de dicho fluido y en donde el depósito está en comunicación de fluidos con dicha cavidad formada.
