Abstract

The present invention refers to an improved process of purification and discoloration of wood pulp effluents, from a pulp mill stream, characterized in that it consists in passing the effluent at a pH of 6 to 8.5 through a mass or bed of weak aliphatic and macroreticular anion exchange resin in the free base form with a high pk value of between 5.0 and approximately 10, at a temperature between 20 ° C and 80 ° C whereby the colored bodies and impurities, those that remain on the resin, when the resin is exhausted it is regenerated with a solution of caustic soda, at a temperature between 20 ° C and 80 ° C.
