La presente invención se refiere a un método para el pretratamiento de un sustrato metálico para un proceso posterior de conformado en frío de metales, dicho método que comprende al menos las etapas (1) y (2), y opcionalmente la etapa (3), es decir, se provee al menos un sustrato que tiene al menos una superficie al menos parcialmente compuesta de al menos un metal (1), se contacta al menos una superficie del sustrato proporcionado en la etapa (1) con una composición acuosa de lubricante (A) que tiene un valor de pH menor de 2,0 y que comprende, además de agua, aniones oxalato (a1), aniones tiosulfato (a2), aniones cloruro (a3), al menos un polímero formador de película (a4), que es un homopolímero y/o copolímero que se prepara mediante la polimerización de al menos un monómero etilénicamente insaturado, al menos una cera (a5) y aniones fluoruro y/o aniones bifluoruro (a6), y opcionalmente se seca la película de recubrimiento obtenida luego de haber realizado la etapa (2), un sustrato metálico pretratado que puede obtenerse por el método de la invención mencionado anteriormente, un método de conformado en frío de un sustrato metálico que incluye una etapa en la que el sustrato metálico pretratado de la invención se somete a un proceso de conformado en frío, una composición acuosa de lubricante (A) como se ha definido anteriormente y un concentrado de color para preparar la composición acuosa (A).
