Abstract
La presente invención se refiere generalmente a procesos de conversión de materias primas que contienen fructosa en un producto que comprende 5-(hidroximetil) furfural (HMF) y agua en presencia de agua, solvente y un catalizador ácido. En algunas modalidades, la conversión de fructosa en HMF se controla en un punto final de conversión parcial, caracterizado por una producción de HMF de la fructosa que no supera alrededor de 80% mol. En estas y otras modalidades, los procesos proporcionan técnicas de separación para separar y recuperar el producto, la fructosa sin convertir, el solvente y el catalizador ácido para permitir ala recuperación y la reutilización de los componentes de la reacción.
