Abstract
A shift lever device is provided with: a case body having a shift hole opened in the upper surface thereof; a pair of parallel sidewalls disposed on both sides of the shift hole in the upper surface; a rockable shift lever inserted through the shift hole and having a base end rotatably supported by the pair of sidewalls; and a check mechanism for providing the feeling of resistance during a shift change by the shift lever. The check mechanism is provided with: a check member provided integrally with the shift lever and having a check ball; and a check block provided integrally with the case body and having a check guide with which the check ball comes into pressure-contact. The pair of sidewalls are each arranged at a predetermined distance from the rocking path of the shift lever. One of the sidewalls has formed therein a block receiving recess which is recessed from the inner surface of the sidewall toward the outer side surface. The check block is disposed in the block receiving recess. The above-described device is reduced in size and weight.
