Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a un método para operar un horno de arco eléctrico (10) que comprende al menos un electrodo (18) que tiene una abertura de paso (32), en donde en dicho método: se genera un arco eléctrico (20) entre dicho al menos un electrodo (18) y un material a fundir (16), y se introduce un primer aditivo en la abertura de paso (32) del electrodo (18), dicha introducción del primer aditivo provoca una reacción química endotérmica y que se controla de tal de manera que la reacción química se produce en una región predeterminada (34) de dicho al menos un electrodo (18), en donde dicha región enfrenta al material a ser fundido (16).
