Abstract
La invención se relaciona con una célula que comprende una secuencia de nucleátidos que codifica una xilosa isomerasa, donde la secuencia de aminoácidos de la xilosa isomerasa tiene al menos aproximadamente 7O de identidad en secuencia con la secuencia de aminoácidos representada en SEQ ID NO 3 y donde la secuencia de nucleátidos es heteróloga al huésped. Una célula de la invención puede ser utilizada en un proceso para producir un producto de fermentación tal como etanol. Tal proceso puede comprender fermentar un medio que contiene una fuente de xilosa con una célula de la invención de tal forma que la célula fermenta la xilosa hasta el producto de la fermentación.
