La présente invention concerne une serviette ! hygiénique et, en particulier, une serviette hygiéni que contenant des fibres fusibles.
Une des méthodes traditionnelles en vue de 5 former une serviette hygiénique consiste à assembler celle-ci en retournant la face inférieure vers le haut. On pose ensuite, par-dessus, une matière de recouvre-» ment perméable aux fluides avec un voile absorbant tel qu’un duvet de pâte de bois de telle sorte que les 10 bords se terminent au même endroit. Ensuite, on peut éventuellement ajouter une poudre surabsorbante ou une feuille d’une matière surabsorbante. Si l’on utilise I: * une feuille contenant une matière surabsorbante, il· n’est pas indispensable que cette feuille se termine 15 au même endroit que les autres éléments. Ensuite, on replie 11 enveloppe perméable aux fluides et le voile absorbant pour former essentiellement une double épais-i seur. On ajoute ensuite un écran imperméable aux i fluides afin de maintenir le pli en place et former 20 l’élément d’arrêt pour les fluides que doit comporter la serviette finie, La serviette ainsi réalisée comporte des bords longitudinaux repliés qui sont souples et confortables.
Il est également connu d’introduire des fi-25 bres fusibles dans un voile absorbant. Dans le brevet M des Etats-Unis d’Amérique n° 4»059»H4j on décrit une telle combinaison. Comme décrit dans ce brevet, on > ajoute les fibres fusibles afin d’accroître la capacité I d’absorption en facilitant l’écoulement des fluides « 30 à 1’intérieur de la couche absorbante.
Récemment, la société "Johnson & Johnson" de Milltown, New Jersey, E.U.A., a vendu,sous le nom de la marque commerciale "SURE & NATURAL", une serviette hygiénique d'une épaisseur réduite qui, ainsi 35 qu’on le prétend, a une capacité d’absorption aussi forte que celle des serviettes hygiéniques de l’épais-

► 3 seur habituelle. L'élément absorbant de cette serviette comporte une matière surabsorbante mélangée avec la couche absorbante classique. L'absorbant restant est du type cellulosique habituel. Même en 5 incorporant une matière surabsorbante, cette serviette n'a pas eu le rendement escompté. On a constaté qu'une des raisons de ce rendement décevant était les contraintes de déformation auxquelles la serviette n'a pu résister en raison de sa structure.
10 Lorsque la serviette hygiénique est portée, les jambes de l'utilisateur lui imposent des forces dirigées vers l'intérieur le long de 1' axe longitu-’ dinal. Ces forces créent également un effet de cisail lement le long de cet axe longitudinal. On a trouvé j 15 que, lorsque les absorbants classiques contiennent une I quantité suffisante d'un liquide tel que les menstrues et que^lorsqu'une force de déformation est appliquée, l'absorbant classique ne reprend pas sa forme antérieure. Cette remarque est vraie bien que l'absorbant 20 soit entouré d'une enveloppe non absorbante. L'absorption des menstrues a tendance à provoquer une déformation et un retroussement local le long du plan de la serviette. Il en résulte non seulement un inconfort dû à la déformation de la serviette, mais également 25 une influence négative sur ses propriétés absorbantes.

\ Suivant la présente invention, on prévoit une : serviette hygiénique le long des bords longitudinaux de laquelle est plié un voile absorbant. La matière , absorbante contient des fibres fusibles qui, en com- 35 binaison avec les bords longitudinaux repliés, forment une matrice absorbante élastique conservant sa iorme / î « i 1 r 4 après une importante absorption de fluide. En conséquence, une serviette réalisée conformément à la pré-I sente invention est supérieure tant du point de vue confort que du point de vue de sa capacité d'absorp-5 tion comparativement à une serviette ayant une masse absorbante égale et une capacité de surabsorption semblable.

j Bien qu'une matière surabsorbante soit actuel- i [ lement préférée, il est à noter qu’il existe d’autres | « matières ayant une plus forte capacité d’absorption i ou d’autres propriétés souhaitables que l’on peut ! 15 ajouter en supplément ; de même, on peut réaliser une serviette sans la présence de cette matière. Claims (5)
1. Serviette hygiénique, caractérisée en I ce qu'elle comprend un écran imperméable aux fluides et un voile absorbant comportant des fibres fusibles 5 et dont les côtés longitudinaux sont repliés, cette serviette conservant au moins 96,5$ de sa surface ; plane après absorption d'un gramme de fluide et après | avoir été portée pendant une heure.
