Abstract
액정표시장치 및 그 제조방법에 관한 것이며, 액정 표시면을 비스듬히 보았을 때의 반점을 없애서 양호한 시각 특성을 갖는 액정표시장치를 제공한다.
폴리머(152) 중에 액정액적(151)이 분산된 폴리머분산 액정층(15)이 제1의 투명전극(12)을 갖는 제1위 유리기판(11)과 제2의 투명전극(14)을 갖는 제2의 유리기판(13) 사이에 충전된 액정 셀이 제1의 편광판(16)과 제2의 편광판(17)으로 된 크로스 니콜중에 배치되며, 그 외측에 백 라이트(18)가 배치되고, 이 액정액적(151)이 지름이 3㎛ 이상, 100㎛ 이하이며, 이 액정액적(151)중의 액정분자가 30도 이상 180도 이하 비틀어져 있는 구성을 채용하였다, 유전 이방성 △ε이 전계의 주파수가 높을 때는 정이 되고, 주파수가 낮을때는 부가 되는 액정을 사용하여 전계의 주파수에 따라 유전 이방성 △ε을 조절함으로써 소정의 지름을 갖는 액정액적을 형성 할 수가 있다.

제1도는 본 발명의 액정표시장치의 원리 설명도, 제2도는 제1실시예의 액정표시장치의 구성 설명도.
Claims (6)
- 폴리머중에 액정액적이 분산된 폴리머분산 액정이 항쌍의 전극 사이에 충전된 액정 셀이 크로스 니콜중에 배치되고, 이 액정액적의 지름이 3㎛ 이상, 100㎛ 이하이며 이 액적중에 액정분자가 30도 이상 180도 이하 비틀어져 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 액정액적의 지름이 한쌍의 전극의 간격 이상인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 폴리머분산 액정의 유전 이방성 △ε이 저주파영역의 전계중에서는 정이고, 고주파영역의 전계중에서는 부인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 유전 이방성 △ε이 저주파영역의 전계중에서는 정이고, 고주파영역의 전계중에서는 부인 폴리머분산 액정을 한쌍의 전극 사이에 충전하고, 이 폴리머분산 액정에 이 폴리머분산 액정의 유전 이방성 △ε이 부가 되는 고주파 영역의 전계를 인가하여 액정액적을 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 제조방법.
- 제1항 또는 제2항에 있어서, 폴리머분산 액정의 유전 이방성 △ε이 100Hz보다 낮은 주파수의 전계중에서는 정이며, 100Hz보다 높은 주파수의 전계중에서는 부인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 유전 이방성 △ε이 100Hz보다 낮은 주파수의 전계중에서 정이고, 100Hz보다 높은 주파수의 전계중에서는 부인 폴리머분산 액정을 한쌍의 전극 사이에 충전하여, 이 폴리머분산 액정에 이 폴리머분산 액정의 유전 이방성 △ε이 부가 되는 100Hz보다 높은 주파수의 전계를 인가하여 액정액적을 형성하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치의 제조방법.※ 참고사항 : 최초출원 내용에 의하여 공개하는 것임.
