Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to an overcurrent detection circuit of a semiconductor device, and more particularly, to a protection circuit that is added to a circuit for driving a power switching device to detect overcurrent and to block a gating signal upon detection.
Conventionally, most of the semiconductor integrated circuit devices have an overcurrent protection circuit as one of the abnormal protection circuits. 1 is a schematic circuit diagram of an example of a conventional overcurrent protection circuit.
Referring to FIG. 1, after the overcurrent is detected in the overcurrent protection circuit, the overcurrent detection signal is transmitted to the
At this time, the conventional transistor overcurrent protection circuit has many methods to quickly protect the inverter by blocking the PWM at the IC itself by monitoring the saturation voltage at the transistor at the Desat pin of the gate drive IC on the H/W when a short circuit or overcurrent occurs in the transistor. I'm using it.
However, in a transistor circuit, for example, a MOSFET, overcurrent may occur not only in the forward direction but also in the reverse direction.Since only forward overcurrent can be detected with the conventional overcurrent detection circuit, the transistor circuit is properly protected against overcurrent in the reverse direction. I couldn't.
The present invention has been conceived to solve the above-described conventional problem, and an object of the present invention is to provide an overcurrent protection circuit capable of more effectively protecting a transistor element by detecting not only a forward overcurrent but also a reverse overcurrent through a transistor element.
In order to achieve the above object, the transistor protection circuit includes a gate driver, a control unit, and an overcurrent detection unit, and the overcurrent detection unit again includes a rectifier unit, an operational amplifier unit, and an summing unit.
The gate driver applies a driving input to the gate of the transistor, the controller controls the gate driver, and the overcurrent detector detects an overcurrent between the drain source of the transistor and applies an overcurrent detection signal to the controller. At this time, the rectifying unit rectifies the drain voltage of the transistor to separate the forward voltage and the reverse voltage from the transistor, and the operational amplifier unit includes a forward operational amplifier that amplifies the forward voltage and a reverse operational amplifier that amplifies the reverse voltage. The signs of the and reverse voltages are matched in the same direction, and the summation unit sums the outputs of the forward and reverse amplification units.
According to this configuration, since it is possible to detect not only the forward overcurrent but also the reverse overcurrent through the transistor element, it is possible to increase the reliability of the power conversion device by reinforcing the switch protection function.
In this case, the operational amplifier unit may be a forward operational amplifier and an inverting amplifier, and the reverse operational amplifier may be a non-inverting amplifier. According to this configuration, it is possible to more effectively match the signs of signals output to the summing unit by using different input terminals of the operational amplifier for the forward and reverse voltages separated from each other.
In addition, the summing unit includes an operational amplifier, and may receive outputs of the forward operational amplifier and the reverse operational amplifier through an inverting input terminal. According to this configuration, it is possible to amplify an input signal for both the forward and reverse voltages to be suitable for the input of the rear control unit, adjust the code, and transmit the signal to the control unit.
In addition, the overcurrent detection unit may further include an offset unit that adjusts the output of the summing unit according to the input terminal of the control unit. According to this configuration, it is possible to secure a voltage of a required magnitude at the input terminal of the control unit.
In this case, the offset unit may include a Zener diode in which an anode is connected to an output terminal of the summing unit and a cathode is connected to an input terminal of the controller. According to this configuration, it is possible to more easily secure a voltage of a required magnitude at the input terminal of the controller by using the voltage characteristics of the Zener diode.
In addition, the offset unit may include a resistor connected between the inverting input terminal of the summing unit and a preset power supply. According to this configuration, the signal level of the input terminal of the control unit can be more effectively adjusted by adjusting the gain of the operational amplifier by adjusting the resistance value connected to the operational amplifier of the summing unit.
According to the present invention, since it is possible to detect not only the forward overcurrent but also the reverse overcurrent through the transistor element, it is possible to increase the reliability of the power conversion device by reinforcing the switch protection function.
In addition, by using different input terminals of the operational amplifier for the forward and reverse voltages separated from each other, it is possible to more effectively match the signs of the signals output to the summing unit.
In addition, for both forward and reverse voltages, an input signal can be amplified to be suitable for the input terminal of the rear control unit, and the code can be adjusted and transmitted to the control unit.
In addition, it is possible to secure a voltage of a required size at the input terminal of the control unit.
In addition, it is possible to more easily secure a voltage of a required magnitude at the input terminal of the controller by using the voltage characteristics of the Zener diode.
In addition, by adjusting the resistance value connected to the operational amplifier of the summing unit to adjust the gain for the operational amplifier, it is possible to more effectively adjust the signal level of the input terminal of the control unit.

2 is a schematic block diagram of a transistor protection circuit according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 3 is a diagram illustrating an actual implementation example of FIG. 2. In FIG. 2, the
The
To this end, the
The
According to this configuration, it is possible to more effectively match the signs of signals output to the summing unit by using different input terminals of the operational amplifier for the forward and reverse voltages separated from each other.
The
According to this configuration, it is possible to amplify an input signal for both forward and reverse voltages to be suitable for the controller input terminal (DESAT) at the rear stage, adjust the code, and transmit the signal to the
The
In this case, the
In addition, the
According to this configuration, by adjusting the resistance value connected to the operational amplifier of the
Since the amplifier gain can be changed depending on the resistance value setting, the error problem that may occur in the Zener diode can be solved by adjusting the protection level adjustment using the amplifier gain. This is done by setting the offset with.
6 and 7 are diagrams showing simulation results of protecting forward overcurrent and reverse overcurrent of a transistor according to the present invention, respectively. 6 and 7, it can be seen that when the forward and reverse currents passing through the transistor are changed from 20A to 100A, an overcurrent detection signal is applied to the input terminal of the gate control unit, and accordingly, the flow of current through the transistor is blocked. have.
In summary, the present invention is a circuit for detecting and blocking overcurrent of a power switching device, and detects overcurrent by measuring a drain-source voltage (switch conduction voltage) when the switch is turned on.
At this time, it includes a circuit that rectifies the switch conduction voltage to detect not only the forward overcurrent but also the reverse overcurrent, amplifies and sums the rectified signal, and connects it to the DESAT pin of the gate drive IC to detect and block overcurrent in both directions.
According to the present invention, not only forward overcurrent but also reverse overcurrent can be detected, and the overcurrent level can be easily adjusted by including an amplifying circuit.
