The present invention relates to a negative electrode active material slurry having excellent dispersion stability and controlled viscosity, a negative electrode including a negative electrode active material layer formed therefrom, a method for manufacturing the negative electrode using the same, and a lithium secondary battery including the negative electrode active material slurry.
Recently, with the rapid development of the communication industry including the electronic industry and various kinds of information communication including mobile communication, in response to the demand for light and small size of electronic devices, portable electronic devices such as notebooks, netbooks, tablet PCs, mobile phones, smart phones, PDAs, digital cameras, Electronic products, and communication terminals have been widely used, and development of a battery, which is a driving power source for these devices, is also increasingly attracting attention.
In addition, with the development of electric vehicles such as hydrogen electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles and fuel cell vehicles, great attention has been paid to the development of batteries having high performance, large capacity, high density, high output and high stability, The development of batteries is also a big issue.
BACKGROUND ART [0002] Batteries that convert chemical energy into electrical energy are divided into primary cells, secondary cells, fuel cells, and solar cells according to types and characteristics of basic constituent materials. Demand for secondary cells is rapidly increasing. A lithium secondary battery having a high energy density and a high voltage has been commercialized and widely used.
The lithium secondary battery is a positive electrode and a negative electrode. And has four basic components, a separator and an electrolyte. The positive electrode and the negative electrode each include a positive electrode active material and a negative electrode active material.
The positive electrode and the negative electrode may be formed by applying an active material slurry in which a positive electrode active material and a negative electrode active material and a binder are dispersed in a solvent to a current collector and drying or applying the active material slurry to a separate support, And the film is laminated on the current collector.
On the other hand, in order to facilitate application of the active material slurry to the current collector, it is necessary to control the viscosity of the active material slurry. Thus, viscosity change is controlled by using a thickener separately, and carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) having excellent thickening performance at room temperature is usually used as a thickening agent.
However, the carboxymethyl cellulose has a problem that the viscosity is rapidly lowered at a high temperature. Also, hydroxyethylcellulose used as an additive has a disadvantage in that the viscosity is rapidly reduced at high temperatures.
Furthermore, during the production of the negative electrode, the binder migration phenomenon occurs in the negative electrode active material slurry in the drying step, and the adhesive force between the current collector and the active material layer is reduced and peeled. In order to suppress such a phenomenon, an unnecessary binder is additionally added, which causes increase in battery capacity and battery resistance.
Thus, it is necessary to develop a slurry of an anode active material which can uniformly distribute the binder in the slurry of the negative electrode active material and can control the viscosity at a high temperature.
R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each independently a hydrogen atom, an alkyl having 1 to 5 carbon atoms or a hydroxyalkyl having 3 to 5 carbon atoms.
In the anode active material slurry of the present invention, the anode active material may be a carbon-based material capable of intercalating and deintercalating lithium ions. The anode active material may contain an oxygen element in an amount of 1000 mg / kg or less, a nitrogen element in an amount of 160 mg / kg. < / RTI > Specifically, the negative electrode active material is prepared by heat-treating a carbonaceous material, and may include 150 mg / kg to 700 mg / kg of oxygen element in the molecule and 100 mg / kg to 160 mg / kg of nitrogen element have.
The specific surface area of the negative electrode active material containing the heat-treated carbon-based material is preferably 4.0 m 2 / g or less.
Examples of such an anode active material include low-crystalline carbon which is heat treated coke, high-temperature calcined artificial graphite of carbon precursor as high crystalline carbon, and natural graphite coated with low carbon carbon. As the low-crystalline carbon, soft carbon and hard carbon may be typical. Examples of the highly crystalline carbon include natural graphite, kish graphite, pyrolytic carbon, High temperature sintered carbon such as mesophase pitch based carbon fiber, mesocarbon microbeads, mesophase pitches and petroleum or coal tar pitch derived cokes are typical examples. .
The negative electrode active material reduces the number of functional groups including oxygen and nitrogen elements formed on the active material surface by high temperature heat treatment. The content of oxygen and nitrogen in the active material is inversely proportional to the heat treatment temperature. The quantitative deterioration of the surface functional group of the active material as measured by such oxygen and nitrogen elements leads to an increase in the binder migration, which leads to uneven distribution of the binder in the electrode, and further addition of a binder is required.
Alkyl or hydroxyalkylcellulose containing a hydrophobic functional group can be introduced to solve the problem of uneven distribution of the binder. The reduction of functional groups including oxygen and nitrogen on the surface of the negative active material increases the hydrophobicity of the surface of the active material, thereby increasing the bonding force between the alkyl or hydroxyalkyl cellulose and the active material. In addition, the hydrophobic functional groups are characterized in that the thickening ability of the hydrophobic functional group increases in the aqueous solvent as the temperature rises, so that the migration of the binder in the electrode can be effectively suppressed at the drying temperature.
If the non-heat treated carbonaceous material is included as the negative electrode active material, since the oxygen element contains 1000 mg / kg and the nitrogen element exceeds 160 mg / kg, the adhesion of the negative electrode active material layer formed therefrom is significantly Can be degraded. This is because as the hydrophilicity of the surface of the negative electrode active material increases, the hydrophobic cellulose derivative decreases in binding force.
In addition, in the negative electrode active material slurry of the present invention, the binder is an adhesive for imparting an adhesive force to the negative electrode active material slurry, and examples thereof include vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene copolymer (PVDF-co-HEP), polyvinylidene fluoride polyvinylidenefluoride, CTOT, chlorotrifluoroethylene, polyacrylonitrile, polymethylmethacrylate, polyvinyl alcohol, carboxymethylcellulose (CMC), starch, hydroxypropylcellulose, regeneration (EPDM), sulfonated EPDM, styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), and fluorine rubber, which are selected from the group consisting of polyvinylidene fluoride, cellulose, polyvinylidone, tetrafluoroethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, polyacrylic acid, ethylene-propylene-diene monomer Or more.
When the content of the binder is less than 1 or more than 3, the dispersion stability may not be good, so that a current flows in the negative electrode active material layer formed therefrom. The channel can not be formed locally, so that the resistance inside the battery increases, or the current concentration phenomenon occurs, so that the performance and stability of the battery may be deteriorated.
Also, in the negative electrode active material slurry of the present invention, the cellulose derivative is included in the negative electrode active material slurry and acts as a thickener while improving the dispersion stability of the negative electrode active material and the binder. 1.8% by weight, and specifically 0.5% by weight to 1.6% by weight. If the cellulose derivative is contained in an amount of less than 0.3% by weight, the dispersion stability of the negative electrode active material slurry containing the cellulose derivative may be insufficient. When the cellulose derivative is contained in an amount exceeding 1.8% by weight, the negative electrode active material The dispersion stability of the slurry may be enhanced, but the efficiency of lithium ion decontamination may be deteriorated.
Here, the cellulose derivative may include both carboxymethylcellulose and the compound represented by Formula 1 as described above. That is, the cellulose derivative may be a combination of carboxymethyl cellulose and a compound represented by formula (1).
In the present invention, the term " combination " may refer to a mixture of two or more substances.
Wherein R 1 , R 2 and R 3 are each independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen atom, methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl, hydroxypropyl, and hydroxyisopropyl, May include at least one, and may specifically include methyl, ethyl, propyl, isopropyl.
The carboxymethyl cellulose and the compound represented by the formula (1) may be mixed in a weight ratio of 1: 1 to 10: 1, and more specifically, a weight ratio of 6: 4 to 8: 2. If the compound represented by the formula (1) is out of the above range and is larger than carboxymethyl cellulose, the dispersibility of the negative electrode active material slurry containing the negative electrode active material slurry may be lowered or the adhesion of the negative electrode active material layer formed from the slurry may be decreased.
The carboxymethyl cellulose may have a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 300,000 to 5,000,000 and a degree of substitution of 0.7 to 1.3. The weight average molecular weight (Mw) of the compound represented by Formula 1 is 20,000 to 1,000,000, The degree of substitution may be 0.8 to 2.0. If each of the carboxymethyl cellulose and the compound represented by the formula (1) is out of the above degree of substitution, the dispersibility of the particles in the negative electrode active material slurry may be deteriorated and battery performance may be deteriorated due to uneven distribution in the electrode.
The term " degree of substitution " in the present invention indicates the average number of substitution groups substituted on cellulose per repeating unit of cellulose, and the solubility in a solvent may vary depending on degree of substitution. Generally, having a high degree of substitution will increase the solubility and a low degree of substitution will reduce the solubility. The higher the degree of substitution, the more ionized portions can be increased, and as a result, the other components contained in the negative electrode active material slurry can be dispersed evenly.
Meanwhile, the negative electrode active material slurry according to an embodiment of the present invention may further include at least one additive selected from the group consisting of a conductive material, a filler, and a dispersion medium, if necessary.

실험예Experimental Example 1 One
The viscosity change rate of the negative electrode active material slurries of Examples 1 to 5 and Comparative Examples 1 to 4 was measured and the results are shown in Table 2 below. Here, the viscosity was measured at 25 DEG C using a Brookfield rotational viscometer
As shown in Table 2, the negative electrode active material slurry prepared in Examples 1 to 5 showed a relatively increased rate of change in viscosity in the positive direction as compared with the negative electrode active material slurries of Comparative Examples 2 and 4. In particular, the slurry viscosity change ratio of the negative electrode active material slurry having a composition of carboxymethyl cellulose of the formula 2 and the compound of the formula 1 at a mixing ratio of 10: 1 at 60 ° C was significantly increased in the positive direction as compared with the negative active material slurry of the comparative example 2 .
On the other hand, the slurry of the negative electrode active material of Comparative Example 1 including the non-heated carbonaceous material can not effectively disperse the active material due to the interaction with the functional group on the surface of the active material, resulting in slurry aggregation.
In addition, in the case of the negative electrode active material slurry containing only the compound of Chemical Formula 1 of Comparative Example 3, the content of methyl cellulose was greatly increased and the gelation was performed at 60 ° C, have.
실시예Example 6 6

Then, an electrode assembly was produced by using lithium metal as an anode and laminating the cathode and the anode with a cell guard separator interposed therebetween. Thereafter, an electrolytic solution prepared by dissolving 1M of LiPF 6 in a mixed solvent of dimethyl carbonate (DEC) and ethylene carbonate (EC) (DEC: EC = 1: 1) was injected to prepare an experimental lithium secondary battery.

실험예Experimental Example 2 2
The adhesive strengths of the negative electrode prepared in Examples 6 to 10 and the negative electrode prepared in Comparative Examples 5 to 8 were compared and the results are shown in Table 3 below.
At this time, a 180 ° peel test method was used to measure the adhesive strength between the copper foil and the electrode. That is, a negative electrode having a length of 50 mm and a width of 10 mm was prepared, a tape was attached to the surface of the electrode, and the applied load was measured while holding the copper foil at 180 ° and then removing it at a constant speed in the longitudinal direction.
실험예Experimental Example 3 3
The internal resistance of the lithium secondary batteries manufactured in Examples 6 to 10 and the lithium secondary batteries prepared in Comparative Examples 5 to 8 were compared and analyzed. The results are shown in Table 3 below. The internal resistance was measured when a current of 2.5 C vs. capacity was applied for 30 seconds at a room temperature while each lithium secondary battery was charged at 50%.
As shown in Table 3, it can be seen that the slurry viscosity change rate at 60 deg.
That is, in the case of the negative electrodes of Examples 6 to 10 prepared using the negative electrode active material slurries of Examples 1 to 5 in which the rate of change in viscosity was increased in the positive direction as shown in Table 2, most of them had a high adhesive strength of 16 gf / Can be obtained.
On the other hand, it can be seen that the negative electrodes of Comparative Examples 5 to 8 prepared using the negative electrode active materials of Comparative Examples 1 to 4 have a low adhesive force of 12 gf / 15 mm or less.
Particularly, in the case of the negative electrode of Comparative Example 5 produced by using the negative electrode active material slurry of Comparative Example 1 in which aggregation occurred due to slurry unevenness, the adhesive force was as low as 9 gf / 15 mm or less. From these results, it is understood that it is preferable to use the oxygen and nitrogen atom content of the negative electrode active material in a limited condition in order to increase the effect of using the compound of the formula (1).
In addition, in the case of the negative electrode of Comparative Example 7 produced by using the negative electrode active material slurry of Comparative Example 3 in which aggregation occurred due to slurry irregularity, it was found that electrode surface defects were caused during actual electrode fabrication. Therefore, it can be seen that limited carboxymethyl cellulose and the compound of formula (1) are preferably used within the composition range.
Through these experiments, it was found that when the slurry of the negative electrode active material having the same composition as that of the present invention was provided, stability of the slurry at a high temperature was ensured within the conditions of ensuring the dispersibility and migration of the binder occurred upon drying after the electrode coating could be suppressed .
The embodiments and examples of the present invention described above are given for the purpose of illustrating the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.
