Abstract
Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention [0001] The present invention relates to an organic light emitting display, and more particularly, to an organic light emitting display having a structure capable of reducing deformation due to bending stress of a flexible organic light emitting display.
As the era of informationization becomes full-scale, the field of display devices for visually displaying electrical information signals is rapidly developing. Therefore, studies are being continued to develop performance such as thinning, lightening, and low power consumption for various display devices. Typical examples of such flat panel display devices include a liquid crystal display device (LCD), a plasma display panel device (PDP), a field emission display device (FED) an electro-wetting display device (EWD), and an organic light emitting display device (OLED).
In particular, the organic light emitting display device is a self light emitting display device, and unlike a liquid crystal display device, a separate light source is not required, and thus it can be manufactured in a light and thin shape. Further, the organic light emitting display device is advantageous not only in power consumption but also in response speed, viewing angle, and contrast ratio, and is being studied as a next generation display. However, in spite of these advantages, there is a disadvantage that the organic light emitting display device is particularly vulnerable to moisture and oxygen, so that it is difficult to secure reliability compared with other display devices.
The organic light emitting display includes an organic light emitting device including an anode, an organic light emitting layer, and a cathode. Here, a sealing structure is required because the hole provided in the anode and the electron provided in the cathode are coupled to emit light, which is very vulnerable to moisture or oxygen.
On the other hand, in recent years, a flexible organic light emitting display device, which is formed by forming a display area, wiring, or the like on a flexible substrate such as a plastic material, which is a flexible material, It is attracting attention as a next generation display device.
Flexible organic light emitting display devices have been widely applied not only to monitors and televisions of computers but also to personal portable devices. Researches on flexible organic light emitting display devices having a large display area and reduced volume and weight have been conducted .

1, a flexible organic
The first
The flexible organic
FIG. 2 is a graph illustrating a thickness relationship according to a critical radius of curvature of a first flexible substrate of a flexible organic light emitting display according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention. Equation 1 is an expression for explaining the correlation between the critical curvature radius and the thickness of the first flexible substrate of the flexible organic light emitting diode display according to the embodiment of the present invention.
Hereinafter, a method of selecting the thickness of the first
The first
For example, when the flexible organic
Alternatively, the radius of the circle can be determined as 50 mm. At this time, the curvature ratio R of the first
The thickness of the first
For example, when the first
[식 1] [Formula 1]
In Equation 1,? TH means the first critical bending breakdown point. E is the modulus of elasticity. And T denotes the thickness of the first
Referring to Equation 1, for example, when the critical radius of curvature ( RTH ) of the flexible organic light emitting
Referring to Equation 1, for example, when the critical radius of curvature ( RTH ) of the flexible organic light emitting
In other words, the thickness of the first
For example, the first
For example, the thickness of the first
For example, the first
That is, the first
The plurality of organic light-emitting
The neutral plane NP of the flexible organic light emitting
Since the stress is not generated in the plurality of organic
The sealing
The sealing
The sealing
The
The
First, the
Second, the
For example, the elastic modulus E of the
For example, when the elastic modulus (E) after curing of the adhesive layer is as low as about 800 MPa, the
Third, the
However, if the first
3 is a schematic view for explaining the stress relaxation principle according to the thickness of the first flexible substrate and the thickness of the adhesive layer of the flexible organic light emitting display according to the embodiment of the present invention.
Equation 2 is an expression for describing stress due to the thickness of the first flexible substrate and the thickness of the adhesive layer of the flexible organic light emitting display according to the embodiment of the present invention shown in FIG.
Hereinafter, a method of selecting the thickness of the
The
[식 2] [Formula 2]
In Equation 2, U T denotes a total energy value generated when a steel ball having a predetermined diameter falls freely and collides with the flexible organic light emitting
It can be seen that the first
The thickness of the
Referring again to FIG. 1, the second
In particular, if the flexible organic light emitting
If the first
If the second
For example, the thickness of the second
4 is a cross-sectional view schematically illustrating a flexible organic light emitting display according to another embodiment of the present invention.
Hereinafter, the
Referring to FIG. 4, the
For example, the first adhesive layer 218 may be configured to have a thickness of 5 탆 to 8 탆 in order to protect the sealing
In some embodiments, the flexible organic light emitting display can be configured to be disposed within a tool rollable in roll form.
In some embodiments, one side of the flexible organic light emitting display may be fixed to a cylinder having a predetermined diameter, and may be configured to be rolled or unfolded by rotation of a cylinder.
Embodiments of the present invention may be summarized as follows:
The flexible organic light emitting display according to embodiments of the present invention includes a first flexible substrate on which a plurality of organic light emitting pixels are arranged, a second flexible substrate arranged to face a plurality of organic light emitting pixels of the first flexible substrate, A neutral plane in which a stress due to warping does not occur when the flexible organic light emitting display device is driven in the direction of the first flexible substrate is formed adjacent to a plurality of organic light emitting pixels, To protect the light-emitting pixels from stress.
The first flexible substrate of the flexible organic light emitting display according to embodiments of the present invention is made of a material having a high elastic modulus so as to be flattened while being rolled in a rolled state. For example, the first flexible substrate is made of etched glass. According to the above-described structure, it is possible to maintain the flatness of the substrate during the formation of the organic emission pixel and to satisfy the yield and process conditions. Since the organic emission pixel is formed and etched to a predetermined thickness, There is an advantage that the target critical curvature radius of the device can be achieved.
The adhesive layer of the flexible organic light emitting display according to embodiments of the present invention is made of a material having a predetermined modulus of elasticity or more so as not to be deformed in a rolled state. And has a modulus of elasticity that is relatively smaller than the modulus of elasticity of the first flexible substrate in order to alleviate the compressive stress of the first flexible substrate. That is, the elastic modulus value of the adhesive layer is smaller than the elastic modulus value of the first flexible substrate, and is configured to have a predetermined modulus of elasticity value or more so as not to cause deformation of the flexible organic light emitting display device when stored in roll form for a long time.
The thickness of the adhesive layer of the flexible organic light emitting display device according to embodiments of the present invention is determined in consideration of the thickness of the first flexible substrate and the rigidity of the flexible organic light emitting display device. That is, the adhesive layer is configured to have a predetermined thickness or more to achieve a desired rigidity of the flexible organic light emitting display. In addition, the adhesive layer is configured to be a predetermined thickness or less in consideration of the critical curvature radius of the flexible organic light emitting display device. That is, the thickness of the adhesive layer is configured to be determined within a range where the thickness of the first flexible substrate can have a desired rigidity and the critical curvature radius of the flexible organic light emitting display may not increase.
The second flexible substrate of the flexible organic light emitting display according to embodiments of the present invention is made of a material having a high elastic modulus in order to flatten the substrate in the rolled state. Since the second flexible substrate is configured to generate tensile stress when dried, the second flexible substrate is configured such that a material having a relatively higher durability against tensile stress than the first flexible substrate is applied. For example, the first flexible substrate is made of a metallic material. According to the above-described configuration, when the flexible organic light emitting display device is rolled up into a rolled shape, there is an advantage that damage due to tensile stress can be prevented.
In some embodiments, the flexible organic light emitting display may be configured to be curled beyond a radius of curvature that can maintain elastic deformation characteristics.
Specifically, the first flexible substrate is configured to be curled at a radius of curvature or more that can maintain elastic deformation. And the second flexible substrate is constructed so as to be curled at a radius of curvature or more capable of maintaining elastic deformation. As used herein, the term " elastic deformation " refers to a characteristic in which deformation is reversed at the moment when stress is removed, even if it is stored in a dried state for a long time.
The adhesive layer between the first flexible substrate and the second flexible substrate is configured to have an anelastic deformation property. As used herein, the term " elastic deformation " refers to a characteristic that, when stored in a dry state for a long time, the strain is not recovered even after the stress is removed, or after the specific time has elapsed.
And the elastic modulus of the first flexible substrate and the second flexible substrate is larger than the elastic modulus of the adhesive layer. For example, the first flexible substrate and / or the second flexible substrate may be made of one of glass, metal, and ceramic. The adhesive layer may be made of a polymer.
According to the above-described configuration, even if the flexible organic light emitting display device is stored in a dried state for a long time, since the first flexible substrate and the second flexible substrate are rolled with a radius of curvature capable of maintaining elastic deformation, elastic characteristics can be maintained. However, since the adhesive layer has the elastic deformation property of the adhesive layer, deformation may occur when stored for a long time in a dried state. However, since the elastic modulus of the first flexible substrate and the second flexible substrate is larger than the elastic modulus of the adhesive layer, the adhesive layer can be flatly restored by the first flexible substrate and the second flexible substrate.
In some embodiments, the flexible organic light emitting display may be configured to maintain the elastic deformation characteristics while having brittle characteristics and plastic deformation characteristics.
Specifically, the first flexible substrate is configured to have a brittle characteristic when a stress of a certain value or more is applied thereto while having an elastic deformation characteristic, and the second flexible substrate has an elastic deformation characteristic, And has a plastic deformation characteristic when being deformed. As used herein, " brittleness " refers to the property of fracture with little or no plastic deformation upon deformation due to stress.
The first flexible substrate is constructed so as to be cooled to a brittle generation stress value or less. And the second flexible substrate is constructed so as to be free from the plastic deformation generating stress value.
For example, the first flexible substrate may be made of glass. The second flexible substrate may be made of metal.
According to the above-described configuration, even if the flexible organic light emitting display device is stored in a dried state for a long time, since the first flexible substrate and the second flexible substrate are rolled with a radius of curvature capable of maintaining elastic deformation, elastic characteristics can be maintained.
Particularly, when the first flexible substrate has a brittle characteristic, the flexible organic light emitting display device can be prevented from being deformed even when it is stored in a dried state for a long time because the original flexible force is excellent.
In some embodiments, the adhesive layer may be composed of an elastomer. As used herein, " elastomer " refers to elastic deformations such as rubber (e.g., very large deformations that can be recovered at low stress levels). For example, the elastic modulus (E p ) of the adhesive layer which is an elastic body may be 5 MPa to 100 MPa. That is, the elastic body is easily deformed even with a slight stress and has a remarkably excellent restoring force. Therefore, when the adhesive layer is an elastic body, since the elastic modulus value is very small, there is an advantage that it does not affect the deformation of the flexible organic light emitting display device.
In some embodiments, at least one side of the first flexible substrate may be etched. For example, surface defects, scratches or surface damage formed on the first surface can be removed by etching the first surface of the first flexible substrate. In particular, the etched surface can be a surface when tensile stress is applied. According to the above-described configuration, even when only one surface of the first flexible substrate is etched, the reliability of the flexible organic light emitting display device can be improved.
In some embodiments, both sides of the first flexible substrate may be etched. For example, the first and second surfaces of the first flexible substrate may be etched to remove surface defects, scratches, or surface damage formed on the first and second surfaces. According to the above-described structure, there is an advantage that the reliability of the flexible organic light emitting display can be formed by etching both surfaces of the first flexible substrate.
