As technology development and demand for mobile devices increase, the demand for secondary batteries as a source of energy is rapidly increasing.
The secondary battery may be used in the form of a single battery cell, or in the form of a battery module in which a plurality of unit cells are electrically connected, depending on the type of external device in which the secondary battery is used. For example, a small device such as a mobile phone can operate for a predetermined time with the output and capacity of one battery cell, while a notebook computer, a portable DVD, a personal computer, an electric vehicle, and a hybrid electric Medium or large devices such as automobiles require the use of a battery module including a plurality of battery cells due to problems of output and capacity.
The battery module is manufactured by connecting a plurality of unit cells arranged in series and / or in parallel and then connecting a protection circuit. In the case of using a square or pouch type battery as a unit cell, the wide surfaces thereof may be stacked to face each other, and then the electrode tabs may be easily connected by a connection member such as a bus bar. Therefore, in the case of manufacturing a three-dimensional battery module having a hexahedral structure, a square or pouch type battery is advantageous as a unit cell.
Conventionally, nickel cadmium batteries or hydrogen ion batteries are mainly used as secondary batteries, but recently, lithium ion batteries and lithium polymer batteries having high energy density have been used. Such secondary batteries are increasing in demand due to the advantages described above.
Meanwhile, the secondary battery is manufactured through a process of assembling a cell and a process of activating a battery. In the battery activation step, the secondary battery is mounted in a predetermined device and charged under conditions necessary for activation.
However, as the field of application of secondary batteries is diversified, battery cells of various sizes and structures are manufactured, and thus, there is a disadvantage in that a separate charging and discharging device must be prepared to activate such battery cells.
In addition, in the field of medium and large battery modules for electric vehicles and hybrid electric vehicles, which have recently been commercialized, plate-type battery cells such as pouch-type batteries have attracted much attention as unit cells, but the size of plate-type batteries by manufacturers or secondary battery models, The position of the electrode tabs is different, and in particular, in the case of the battery cells in which the electrode tabs are formed on both sides, the size and shape of the charging / discharging device must be changed according to the difference in size, so that the time required for the activation of the battery cells increases. There is a problem in that the manufacturing cost greatly increases by manufacturing a separate charge and discharge device.
In this regard, charging and discharging devices are disclosed in Korean Utility Model Registration No. 225,054, Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2000-223162, Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 1998-079263, Japanese Patent Application Publication No. 2006-252831, and the like. . However, the charge and discharge devices disclosed in these applications and the like have disadvantages such as complicated structure or poor work efficiency.
In particular, in the conventional charging and discharging device, the method of arbitrarily measuring the distance between the electrodes of the battery cell takes not only an unnecessary time, but also an error in that the result is not accurate.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to solve the problems of the prior art and the technical problem that has been requested from the past.
That is, the object of the present invention can be used for charging and discharging the battery cell irrespective of the size of the battery cell and the change of the position of the electrode tab, it is made of a structure that can minimize the damage of the battery cell by the heat generated during the charge and discharge process It is to provide a charge and discharge device for a secondary battery.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a charge / discharge device capable of precise control by accurately measuring a distance between electrode tabs of a battery cell.
Accordingly, the charging and discharging device of a battery cell according to the present invention is a device for performing charge and discharge for activation or testing of a plate-shaped secondary battery in which electrode tabs are formed at both sides.
전지셀이 탑재된 상태에서 상측 전극 탭 부위가 위치하는 상측 가변부;An upper variable part at which an upper electrode tab part is positioned in a state where the battery cell is mounted;
하측 전극 탭 부위가 위치하며, 전지셀의 길이방향으로 상측 가변부에 대한 거리가 변화될 수 있도록 상측 가변부에 결합되어 있는 하측 가변부;A lower variable part coupled to the upper variable part, wherein the lower electrode tab part is positioned and the distance to the upper variable part in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell is changed;
전극 탭들에 대응하는 위치에 장착되어 있는 단자 연결부들;Terminal connection portions mounted at positions corresponding to the electrode tabs;
A distance measuring unit mounted on one side or both sides of the charging / discharging device and measuring a distance between the upper electrode tab and the lower electrode tab; And
상기 단자 연결부들에 전기적으로 연결되어 있는 충방전기;A charger / discharger electrically connected to the terminal connections;
As shown in FIG.
In general, in the case of a battery cell in which electrode tabs are formed at both sides, the size and shape of the charging / discharging device must vary according to the size or length of the battery cell, and thus, a separate device must be prepared for each type of battery cell. However, the charging and discharging device according to the present invention has a variable coupling structure in which the upper variable part and the lower variable part in which the electrode tabs of the battery cells are located are variable, so that the variable parts may be matched to the size and shape of the battery cell. Accordingly, it can be moved back and forth in the longitudinal direction, so that various types of battery cells can be applied to one charge / discharge device. As a result, charging and discharging may be performed regardless of the size and shape of the battery cell in the manufacturing process of the battery cell, thereby greatly reducing the manufacturing cost.
In addition, since the distance between the battery tabs can be measured by a standardized numerical value by the distance measuring unit, the distance can be easily measured with a simple operation, and the required time can be shortened.
The plate-shaped battery cell may have symmetrical or asymmetrical electrode tabs on both sides of the main body, and an upper electrode tab portion of the battery cell positioned in the upper variable part may be a positive electrode or a negative electrode, and the battery cell may be located in the lower variable part. The lower electrode tab portion may be a cathode or an anode corresponding to the upper electrode tab.
The portion where the upper variable portion and the lower variable portion are coupled is not particularly limited as long as the structure can be variably coupled. Preferably, in the variable coupling portion, the end portion of the upper variable portion and the end portion of the lower variable portion are variably selected from each other. It may be formed in a stepped structure so as to overlap.
In this case, the charging and discharging device of the present invention can perform charging and discharging for various kinds of battery cells as the size of the variable overlapping portion, in one preferred embodiment, the size of the variable overlapping portion is the upper variable portion or 40 to 90% based on the length of the lower variable portion.
The upper variable part and the lower variable part move forward and backward in the longitudinal direction according to the size of the battery cell, and the stepped portions of the variable parts are coupled while adjacent to each other, so that the variable in the state of varying distance ('displacement state') as described above. It is desirable to solidify the combination of parts. Accordingly, the step fixing portion may further be equipped with a position fixing portion capable of fixing the position in a state in which the distance of the upper variable portion or the lower variable portion is variable.
The position fixing part is not particularly limited as long as it is made of a structure capable of firmly coupling the respective variable parts. For example, a communication part communicating with each other in the longitudinal direction is formed at the upper variable part and the lower variable part at the stepped portion. The position fixing part may be made of a male screw fastener inserted into and coupled to the communication part.
Therefore, the ends of the upper variable part and the lower variable part are superimposed to fit the desired position so that the battery cells are mounted in position, and the male screw fastener is inserted into and coupled to the communication part formed in each of the variable parts to be coupled to each other. Can be solidified.
On the other hand, when the battery cell is charged and discharged to activate the battery in the manufacturing process of the battery cell, a lot of heat is generated, in particular, the heat generated from the battery cell portion in contact with the device tends to be thermally accumulated in the region rather than easily radiated to the outside There is this. Thermal accumulation causes deterioration of the battery and in some cases can cause serious problems in terms of safety.
In view of this point, preferably, a plurality of vertical through-holes are drilled in the upper variable portion and the lower variable portion in which the battery cells are mounted, thereby facilitating heat dissipation of the battery cells even further. The structure and arrangement of the vertical through hole may vary. For example, a plurality of through holes vertically penetrating the upper variable part and the lower variable part in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell form two rows, and have a predetermined interval between the upper and lower left and right sides. It may be formed to be arranged with. Therefore, heat generated from the lower surface of the battery cell in contact with the charging / discharging device, specifically, the upper variable part or the lower variable part is dissipated to the outside through the vertical through holes formed in the respective variable parts.
In one preferred embodiment, the main body is fixed on the upper variable portion or the lower variable portion including a close-up portion of the 'c' shape on the vertical cross-section and in close contact with the bottom surface of the electrode tab to accommodate the electrode tab of the battery cell ; And a pressing part mounted on one side of the main body so as to press the upper end surface of the accommodated electrode tab.
That is, the terminal connecting portion is composed of a main body and a pressing portion of a specific shape, the main body is formed in the 'c' shape on the vertical cross-section when viewed with respect to the side (side wall) of the device, the electrode tab of the battery cell It is easy to insert into the upper contact with the lower contact in the lateral direction, the lower surface of the battery cell electrode tab is in close contact with the contact securely in the inserted state.
In some cases, in order to provide a more stable connection state to the battery cell electrode tab, the lower contact portion which is in close contact with the lower surface of the electrode tab and installed on the main body, and the upper surface of the electrode tab contact with the pressing portion It may be configured to include an upper contact portion installed on the. For example, the lower contact portion may be a thin plate-shaped conductor attached to the lower surface of the main body, and the upper contact portion may be a conductor mounted on the lower surface of the pressing portion. The upper contact portion and the lower contact portion are connected to the charger / discharger, respectively, to provide a stable connection state of the battery cell electrode tab inserted into the corresponding terminal connection portion.
In the above structure, the pressing portion mounted on one side of the main body presses the upper contact portion downward, so that the upper and lower surfaces of the battery cell electrode tabs are in close contact with the lower surface of the upper contact portion and the upper surface of the lower contact portion. .
In one preferred example, the main body of the terminal connecting portion can be coupled on the variable portion such that its position can be varied in the width direction, and for this purpose, on the main body of the terminal connecting portion and the corresponding variable portion in the width direction The communication part is formed in communication with each other, and the position fixing part which can fix the position in the state where the terminal connection is variable can be coupled to the communication part to form a coupling.
In such a structure, the terminal connection part can be moved in the width direction of the battery cell, and thus, the battery cell can be charged and discharged regardless of the position of the electrode tab in the plate-shaped battery cell. Charging and discharging are also possible with respect to battery cells having electrode structures on both sides of the main body having symmetrical or asymmetrical structures.
A position fixing part for fixing the position of the terminal connecting part in a state in which the terminal connecting part is moved to a desired position in the width direction of the battery cell, a variable part capable of fixing a position between the terminal connecting part and the upper variable part or the lower variable part; It may be the same, as described above, a male screw fastener that is inserted into the communication portion can be used.
On the other hand, if the distance measuring unit is a position capable of measuring the distance of the electrode tab is not particularly limited to the mounting position, for example, may be formed on one side or both sides of the outermost portion of the charging and discharging device. .
In the above structure, the distance measuring unit may be preferably in the form of a ruler so that the distance between the battery tabs respectively positioned on the upper and lower parts of the battery cell can be measured with a standardized value.
In addition, the distance measuring unit may measure the distance between the upper electrode tab and the lower electrode tab by the variable coupling portion. Therefore, various kinds of battery cells are applied by the variable binding site and the length thereof can be accurately measured, which is very efficient.
The battery cell applied to the charging / discharging device of the present invention is a plate-shaped battery having a large width to thickness, and in particular, a battery cell in which an electrode assembly is incorporated in a pouch type case of a laminate sheet including a resin layer and a metal layer is preferable.
In accordance with another aspect of the present invention, a method of charging or discharging a battery for activating a battery or testing a secondary battery's performance in a process of manufacturing a secondary battery as a unit cell for a medium-large battery module using a battery cell charge / discharge device is performed. To provide.
In general, unit cells used in the manufacture of high-output large-capacity battery modules have a structure in which electrode tabs face both sides of the battery cell, in consideration of high integration in a limited space and ease of wiring when manufacturing the battery module. Battery cells are used a lot. In addition, since the space and size in which the battery module is mounted in the device (for example, a hybrid electric vehicle, etc.), the required capacity and output, etc. are different, the size of the unit battery tends to be different for each manufacturer or model.
Therefore, due to various advantages as described above, the battery cell charging and discharging device according to the present invention can be particularly preferably used in the manufacturing process of a unit battery (battery cell) for medium and large battery modules, the medium and large battery modules are two or more The battery module electrically connecting more secondary batteries is not particularly limited, and may be, for example, a battery module used for a power source of an electric vehicle, a hybrid electric vehicle, a notebook computer, an e-bike, and the like.
Structure and manufacturing method of such a battery module is known in the art, detailed description thereof will be omitted herein.
As described above, in the battery cell charging and discharging device of the present invention, the upper variable part in which the upper electrode tab part is located and the lower variable part in which the lower electrode tab part is positioned in the battery cell charging and discharging state may be varied in the longitudinal direction of the battery cell. By forming a coupling structure, the battery cell can be charged or discharged for activation of the battery cell or the performance of the battery cell can be tested regardless of the size of the battery cell or the position of the electrode tab. Damage can be minimized, and ultimately a good quality battery cell can be manufactured at a low manufacturing cost.
The present invention can also accurately and easily measure the distance between the electrode tabs of the battery cell by a distance measuring unit at a standardized value.
