Abstract
Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing a polarizing plate, a polarizing plate, and an image display device using the same. In particular, the present invention relates to a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate for preventing mechanical damage or thermal deterioration due to direct external exposure of the polarizer during the manufacturing process of the polarizing plate.
A polarizing plate generally has a structure in which a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) -based molecular chain is oriented in a predetermined direction and includes an iodine compound or a dichroic polarizing material, or a dehydration reaction of a polyvinyl alcohol film or a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) film It has a structure which laminated | stacked the triacetyl cellulose (TAC) film with the aqueous adhesive which consists of polyvinyl alcohol-type aqueous solution as a protective film on the polarizing film which has a polyene structure formed by the dehydrochlorination reaction of the above.
A polarizing plate composed of a transparent protective film layer on one surface of the polarizer and an adhesive on the opposite surface thereof can greatly improve a color shift problem in the viewing angle when mounted on a liquid crystal display device driven in a liquid crystal mode such as a transverse electric field method. Moreover, since it consists of one layer of transparent protective layer, it is advantageous for thinness and weight reduction.
However, in the prior art of manufacturing such a polarizing plate, the polarizer is exposed to the outside in the manufacturing process of laminating and drying the polarizer and the protective layer for the polarizer through an aqueous adhesive, and the physically weak polarizer during the continuous roll process. It is susceptible to surface damage due to mechanical friction itself, and there is a problem that optical properties deteriorate because the polarizer is directly exposed to heat in a drying process.
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to reduce the damage of the polarizer itself by friction or heat during the manufacturing process of the polarizing plate composed of a transparent protective film layer on one side of the polarizer, the adhesive on the other side, the polarizer directly exposed to heat in the drying process The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a polarizing plate, a polarizing plate, and an image display device using the same, which prevents the deterioration and prevents deterioration of optical properties.
In order to achieve the above technical problem, the present invention

(b) 상기 투명 보호필름과 상기 편광자를 수계 접착제를 매개로 합판하고 건 조하는 단계; 및(b) plywood and drying the transparent protective film and the polarizer through an aqueous adhesive; And
(c) 상기 점착성 임시 보호필름을 제거함과 아울러 점착제를 합판하는 단계(c) removing the adhesive temporary protective film and plywood the adhesive;
It provides a method of manufacturing a polarizing plate comprising a.
The polarizing plate manufactured as described above may be usefully used for a liquid crystal display device driven in an in-plane switching mode (IPS mode), a FFS mode (Fringe Field Switching mode; FFS mode), and the like.
Hereinafter, the present invention will be described in detail.
In the present invention, step (b) may include plywood the temporary protective film and the polarizer in advance, and then laminating and drying the transparent protective film and the polarizer through an aqueous adhesive.
In the present invention, the temporary protective film removed in the step (b) is preferably formed with a peelable adhesive force of the polarizer and 1 gf / 25mm to 25 gf / 25mm.
In the present invention, after the step (c) may further comprise the step of applying a polarizing plate laminated with an adhesive to the image display device. The image display device may be a liquid crystal display (LCD) that is driven in an in-plane switching mode (IPS mode) or a FFS mode (Fringe Field Switching mode; FFS mode).
Hereinafter, the manufacturing method of the polarizing plate which concerns on this invention is demonstrated more concretely.
In the step (a), as the polarizer according to the present invention, a polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) polarizing film, in which a molecular chain containing an iodine compound or a dichroic polarizing material is oriented in a predetermined direction, may be used. It is not limited to this.
The degree of polymerization of the polyvinyl alcohol is not particularly limited, but considering the flexible mixing with the containing material according to the freedom of molecular movement, 1,000 to 10,000 is preferred, and more preferably 1,500 to 5,000.
As a transparent protective layer laminated on both surfaces or one surface of the polarizer, a triacetyl cellulose (TAC) film may be generally used, but is not limited thereto.
As the peelable temporary protective film, a polymer film may be used. Preferably, polyethylene terephthalate (PolyEthylene Terephtalate PET) or polyethylene (PolyEthylene; PE) film may be used as the temporary protective film according to the present invention. At this time, it is more preferable that it is PET-PE resin to which the low molecular weight adhesive process (Tackifier) process was carried out so that peeling more easily.
At this time, the adhesive force of the temporary protective film is preferably adjusted in the range of 1 gf / 25mm to 25 gf / 25mm. It is because when it peels in the said range, the possibility of a defect by mechanical stress etc. between a polarizing plate and a temporary protective film is small.
In the step (b), the water-based adhesive is not particularly limited as long as it can sufficiently adhere the polarizer and the protective film, is excellent in optical transparency, and there is no change in yellowing over time. For example, an aqueous adhesive consisting of a polyvinyl alcohol-based aqueous solution can be used.
If foreign matter adheres during the plywood and drying process, the surface state becomes uneven. In order to prevent these foreign substances from adhering, it is preferable to perform the manufacturing process under an environment in which there are few floating foreign substances.
The amount of the foreign matter is obtained by dividing the amount of the foreign matter adhered to the surface. The amount of the foreign matter is 1 g / m 2 or less, preferably 0.5 g / m 2 or less per unit area, but the smaller the better.
The foreign material removal method is not particularly limited as long as the foreign material can be removed without adversely affecting the above films. For example, water flow or a method by gas injection may be used.
The drying temperature depends on the adhesive used, but in the case of aqueous systems it is at least 30 ° C, preferably at 30-100 ° C, more preferably at 40-90 ° C.
In the step (c), after removing the temporary protective film and plywood the adhesive layer on the polarizer surface, it is provided so that the obtained polarizing plate can be applied to an image display device including a liquid crystal display device.
The pressure-sensitive adhesive layer that can be used is not particularly limited as long as it is optically transparent and exhibits suitable viscoelasticity or adhesive properties. For example, an acrylic copolymer, an epoxy resin, a polyurethane resin, a silicone resin, a polyether resin, a polyamide resin, a polyvinyl alcohol resin, or the like may be used as the polymer resin. In particular, the acrylic copolymer is easy to control the adhesion properties, excellent transparency, weather resistance, durability, etc. can be preferably used.
The polymer resin is formed and cured on a release film prepared separately by a method commonly used, such as a drying method, a chemical curing method, a thermosetting method, a thermal melting method, and a photocuring method. The release film provided with the pressure-sensitive adhesive layer thus obtained is prepared in a state where it can be applied to various image display apparatuses by laminating the polarizing plate on which the temporary protective film is removed.
It is preferable in view of performance and production efficiency that the above manufacturing process is performed in a series of production lines. Thereby, manufacture of the polarizing plate arrange | positioned in order of the transparent protective film-water-based adhesive agent-polarizer-adhesion layer-release film from the upper part can be completed. Then, the release film can be peeled off and applied to various image display apparatuses.
According to the polarizing plate according to the present invention manufactured by such a manufacturing method, it is possible to reduce the damage of the polarizer due to mechanical friction in the manufacturing process of the image display device, and the optical properties as the polarizer is not directly exposed to heat during the manufacturing process There is an effect which can prevent this fall.
The polarizing plate of the present invention manufactured as described above can be used in various applications. Specifically, it can be preferably used for an image display device including a polarizing plate for liquid crystal display (LCD), an anti-reflective polarizing plate of an organic EL display device, and the like.
The liquid crystal display generally has a liquid crystal display and a polarizing plate. The liquid crystal display device includes a substrate capable of supporting the liquid crystal layer and an electrode layer for applying a voltage to the liquid crystal. In this case, the liquid crystal display includes an in-plane switching mode (IPS mode), a vertically aligned mode (VA mode), an OCB method (Optically Compensated Birefringence mode), a twisted nematic mode; TN mode), FFS (Fringe Field Switching mode; FFS mode) can be driven in all liquid crystal modes.
