Abstract
The present invention comprises the steps of (a) preparing a transition metal supported on a carbon support; (b) heat-treating the transition metal supported on the carbon support in an ammonia atmosphere to prepare a transition metal nitride supported on the carbon support; and (c) reacting by adding hydrogen gas together with a platinum precursor to the transition metal nitride supported on the carbon support to form a platinum layer on the surface of the transition metal nitride to prepare a transition metal nitride core-platinum shell catalyst; It relates to a method for preparing a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer. As a result, mass synthesis of the catalyst is possible because it is produced according to a simple wet chemical process compared to the conventional thermal or electrochemical reaction, and it is environmentally friendly because platinum reduction is performed by supplying hydrogen without using a chemical reducing agent.
Description
The present invention relates to a method for preparing a catalyst used for an electrode of a fuel cell, and to a method for preparing a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer.
The high price of a platinum catalyst required for high efficiency of a fuel cell is acting as a factor in an increase in the price of a hydrogen fuel cell. In order to reduce the amount of platinum entering the fuel cell, it is necessary to improve the intrinsic catalytic activity per weight of platinum, and for this, it is necessary to maximize the utilization efficiency of platinum atoms.
In the case of a general platinum nanoparticle catalyst, platinum atoms that can participate in the reaction are platinum atoms present on the surface, and platinum present in the nanoparticles cannot participate in the catalytic reaction. In order to solve this problem, a catalyst having a core-shell structure is attracting special attention, and by forming a core with a relatively inexpensive transition metal and forming a sub-nanometer level platinum layer on the surface of the core, The amount of platinum that does not participate in the reaction can be drastically reduced. In order to improve platinum intrinsic activity through a catalyst having such a core-shell structure, two conditions are required. First, it should be possible to stably support the platinum layer by selecting an appropriate core support, and second, it should be possible to form a sufficiently thin layer of platinum atoms on the sub-nanometer level.
In the general method for synthesizing solution-based nanostructures, nanoparticles are formed by a homogeneous reaction in the solution phase, whereas in order to form a core-shell nanostructure, a heterogeneous reaction that selectively reacts only on the surface of the core particle must occur, so more sophisticated reaction control is needed In order to control such a sophisticated reaction, a method of forming a platinum layer using an electrochemical method is widely applied, and since the electrochemical reaction occurs only on the electrode surface, a heterogeneous reaction can be efficiently induced.
However, the synthesis of a catalyst having a core-shell structure by an electrochemical method has a problem in that it is difficult to produce a large amount of catalyst on a practical scale due to the complexity of the process requiring electrodes and electrochemical equipment.
An object of the present invention is to solve the above problems, and the process is simple compared to the conventional thermal or electrochemical method, and a wet chemical route is used to enable mass synthesis. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for preparing a catalyst having a transition metal nitride core-platinum shell structure by forming a sub-nanometer-level uniform platinum layer using the promoted surface hydrogenation reaction as a reducing power.

The method for preparing a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer of the present invention not only enables mass synthesis of the catalyst through a simple wet chemical process compared to a complicated thermal or electrochemical reaction, but is also common in the formation of a platinum layer by reduction of a platinum precursor. Because it uses a relatively simple method of supplying hydrogen gas without using a reducing agent such as borohydride, ascorbic acid, or hydrazine, it is possible to minimize the chemicals required for the process. It has an eco-friendly effect.

1 is a schematic diagram of a process sequentially illustrating a method for preparing a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer of the present invention. Hereinafter, a method for preparing a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer according to the present invention will be described with reference to FIG. 1 .
먼저, 탄소 지지체에 담지된 전이금속을 준비한다(단계 a).First, a transition metal supported on a carbon support is prepared (step a).
The carbon support may be carbon black, graphite, graphene, carbon nanotubes, carbon nanofibers, or the like, preferably carbon black.
The transition metal may be any one selected from nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), iron (Fe), copper (Cu), ruthenium (Ru), palladium (Pd), iridium (Ir), and rhodium (Rh), and , preferably any one selected from nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co) and iron (Fe), and more preferably nickel (Ni). When nickel (Ni) is used, the manufacturing cost is reduced, and the platinum layer can be formed well.
다음으로, 상기 탄소 지지체에 담지된 전이금속을 암모니아 분위기에서 열처리하여 탄소 지지체에 담지된 전이금속 질화물을 제조한다(단계 b).Next, the transition metal supported on the carbon support is heat-treated in an ammonia atmosphere to prepare a transition metal nitride supported on the carbon support (step b).
The heat treatment is preferably performed at 250 to 400 °C, more preferably at 270 to 350 °C, even more preferably at 280 to 320 °C. In the case of heat treatment at less than 250°C, the nitridation reaction does not occur sufficiently so that the formation of transition metal nitride does not occur properly, and the decomposition temperature may be different depending on the type of transition metal nitride. , the decomposition of nitrides may occur.
In addition, the heat treatment is preferably performed for 7 to 20 hours when performed in the above temperature range, more preferably for 8 to 17 hours, even more preferably for 10 to 15 hours. If the heat treatment is performed for less than 7 hours, the nitridation reaction may not occur sufficiently, so that the formation of a transition metal nitride may not occur properly, and if it exceeds 20 hours, unnecessary process costs may occur.
마지막으로, 상기 탄소 지지체에 담지된 전이금속 질화물에 백금 전구체와 함께 수소기체를 가하여 반응시킴으로써, 상기 전이금속 질화물의 표면에 백금층을 형성하여 전이금속 질화물 코어-백금 쉘 촉매를 제조한다(단계 c).Finally, by reacting by adding hydrogen gas together with a platinum precursor to the transition metal nitride supported on the carbon support, a platinum layer is formed on the surface of the transition metal nitride to prepare a transition metal nitride core-platinum shell catalyst (step c) ).
The platinum precursor is preferably any one selected from PtCl 4 , K 2 PtCl 4 , PtCl 2 , PtBr 2 , H 2 PtCl 6 and K 2 PtCl 6 , and more preferably K 2 PtCl 6 .
The platinum precursor may be used in an aqueous solution of the platinum precursor, and in some cases, a solution dissolved in a polar organic solvent may be used.
The polar organic solvent may be methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, MMF, or the like.
The platinum precursor aqueous solution may preferably have a platinum (Pt) content of 5 to 15 wt%, more preferably 7 to 13 wt%, and even more preferably 8 to 12 wt%. When the platinum content is less than 5 wt%, it is difficult to form a uniform platinum layer on the surface of the transition metal nitride, and when the platinum content exceeds 15 wt%, the platinum layer is thickly formed on the surface of the transition metal nitride, and the utilization efficiency of platinum atoms is lowered This can cause problems that increase costs.
The platinum layer may be formed to a thickness of 0.1 to 2 nm, preferably 0.2 to 1 nm. A thickness of less than 0.1 nm is not only technically difficult to form, but also platinum catalytic activity may be reduced. It does not serve the purpose of maximizing efficiency.
The catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer may be spherical particles having a diameter of 5 to 30 nm, preferably 10 to 25 nm, more preferably 15 to 20 nm. When the diameter is less than 5 nm, the core-shell particles are too small to form a uniform platinum layer, and when the diameter exceeds 30 nm, the size of the particles is large, which is not suitable for application to electrodes as catalysts.
The preparation of the catalyst having a core-shell structure having the platinum layer is preferably performed in a single reactor (one-pot). Because, by carrying out in a single reactor, it is possible to prevent the transition metal supported on the carbon support or the transition metal nitride supported on the carbon support generated after heat treatment from being exposed to air.
The catalyst having a core-shell structure having the platinum layer may be used as a catalyst for a fuel cell electrode.
The present invention provides a method for manufacturing an electrode for a fuel cell including the above-described method for preparing a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer.
In addition, the present invention provides a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer prepared according to the above preparation method.
In addition, the present invention provides an electrode for a fuel cell comprising a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer prepared according to the above manufacturing method.
In particular, although not explicitly described in the following examples, in the method for producing multi-porous metal sulfide nanoparticles according to the present invention, in step (a), the type of carbon support, the type of the supported transition metal, the step (b) In, a catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer was prepared while varying the heat treatment temperature and time, the type of the platinum precursor and the concentration of the platinum precursor aqueous solution in step (c).
For the catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer prepared as described above, the shape of the core-shell structure and electrochemical properties for oxygen reduction reaction were evaluated. As a result, unlike other conditions and other numerical ranges, only when all of the following conditions are satisfied, the platinum layer of the core-shell structure catalyst is formed uniformly and close to 1 nm in thickness, and the size of the catalyst particles is also uniform, so that platinum atoms The utilization efficiency is maximized, and the activity of the catalyst having a core-shell structure having a platinum layer is measured to be remarkably high. Such manufacturing conditions are as follows.
In step (a), the carbon support is carbon black, the supported transition metal is nickel (Ni), in step (b), the heat treatment temperature is 280 to 320° C., the heat treatment time is 10 to 15 hours, step (c) In the platinum precursor K 2 PtCl 6 , the concentration of the platinum precursor aqueous solution is 8 to 12 wt%.
Hereinafter, examples according to the present invention will be described in detail.
Example]
Example 1: Catalyst synthesis of core-shell structure of nickel nitride core-platinum shell
First, nickel (Ni/C) supported on a carbon support was prepared by the following method.
50ml acetone and AT-vulcan carbon were put into a 500ml round one-necked flask, followed by sonication for 30 minutes. After that, 1 g of nickel nitride (II) and 10 ml of a diluted acetone solution were prepared, and 1.24 ml of the diluted solution was injected into the flask and sonicated for additional 10 minutes. After evaporating the solvent in a vacuum at 60° C. using a rotary evaporator, the solution was dried in an oven at 80° C. for 12 hours. Carbon recovered from the flask was treated at 300° C. for 1 hour in a 10 vol% H 2 atmosphere using a tubular furnace to prepare 20 wt% Ni/C. At this time, the AT-vulcan carbon was acid-treated with cabot's 2g vulcan XC-72 carbon in 3.4MH 2 SO 4 , 1.9M HNO 3 diluted solution (542ml) at 90°C for 3 hours using an oil bath, It was prepared by filtration and washing with 3L of tertiary distilled water and drying in an oven at 80° C. for 12 hours.
Next, in order to form nickel nitride supported on the carbon support, nickel (Ni/C) supported on 30 mg of the carbon support was heat-treated at 300° C. in ammonia atmosphere for 12 hours, then changed to an argon atmosphere at 150° C., and up to room temperature. After cooling, nickel nitride (Ni 3 N/C) supported on a carbon support was prepared.
Next, after first dispersing Ni 3 N/C in 50 ml of DI water at room temperature, 50 ml of Pt precursor aqueous solution such that the Pt precursor K 2 PtCl 6 aqueous solution becomes 10 wt% of Pt weight (3.33 mg Pt) during the entire reaction While adding dropwise, hydrogen gas (H 2 ) was blown in when the Pt precursor aqueous solution was injected for the reduction reaction of the Pt precursor. At this time, in order not to expose Ni/C and Ni 3 N/C generated after heat treatment to air, the above-described reaction was performed in a single reactor.
1Comparative Example 1
A catalyst was synthesized in the same manner as in Example 1, except that Ni 3 N/C was reacted with a platinum precursor solution under a nitrogen atmosphere instead of blowing hydrogen gas (H 2 ) when the Pt precursor aqueous solution was injected. .
2Comparative Example 2
As a conventionally used commercial platinum catalyst, a catalyst supported by 20wt% Pt on Vulcan XC-72 manufactured by Premetek was prepared.

Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) analysis and Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) analysis were performed on the catalysts prepared according to Example 1 and Comparative Example 1, respectively. According to this, in the case of the catalyst of Comparative Example 1 in which nickel nitride was reacted with a platinum precursor in a nitrogen atmosphere without using the hydrogen oxidation reaction, it was found that platinum present on the surface was hardly present on the EDS analysis of FIG. 2 . On the other hand, in the case of the catalyst of Example 1 in which the nickel nitride and the platinum precursor were reacted with hydrogen by blowing hydrogen for the hydrogen oxidation reaction, it can be confirmed that the platinum layer was well formed by the hydrogen oxidation reaction on the surface of the nickel nitride.
Experimental Example 2: X-ray diffraction analysis
The crystallinity of each of the catalysts prepared according to Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 was analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), and the results are shown in FIG. 4 .
According to this, in the case of the catalyst of Comparative Example 1, only the XRD peak by the nickel nitride and the carbon support appeared, and the crystal structure related to platinum was not observed. In contrast, in the case of the catalyst of Example 1, peaks of the face-centered cubic lattice (FCC), which are the basic crystal structures of platinum, and the crystal structures of nickel nitride, were confirmed. These results indicate that the platinum shell formation reaction was well induced by the surface hydrogenation reaction of nickel nitride.
Experimental Example 3: Electrochemical Characterization of Oxygen Reduction Reaction
The catalytic activity for the oxygen reduction reaction of the catalysts prepared according to Example 1 and Comparative Example 1 was analyzed using Linear Sweep Voltammetry (LSV), and the results are shown in FIG. 5 . In the case of the catalyst of Comparative Example 1, the platinum shell was not properly formed and showed low electrochemical activity, whereas the catalyst of Example 1 in which the platinum shell was well formed using the surface hydrogenation reaction showed relatively high oxygen reduction reaction characteristics. and showed slightly higher oxygen reduction reaction characteristics compared to the commercial platinum catalyst of Comparative Example 2.
