Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION The present invention relates to a flexible membrane that is flexible to be rolled up or applied to a curved surface.
Membrane is a key component used for separation and purification in water treatment, energy, medical, and food applications.
Conventional membranes are mainly manufactured using polymers, ceramics, and metal materials, and can be classified into a sheet-shaped flat membrane or a tubular hollow fiber membrane with a hole in the middle. The material currently being mainly applied is a membrane using a polymer material that is easy to mold and has a relatively low price.
The principle of separating substances with a membrane is to use the open pores existing between the membranes. For example, a fluid to be purified (water, air, etc.) passes through the pores, whereas a material to be removed from the fluid to be purified does not pass through the open pores.
Since the fluid moves through a medium called the membrane, the thinner the membrane, the higher the permeation flow rate, and the more constant the pore size, the higher and more stable the removal rate of the material to be removed from the fluid being separated.
Depending on the technical field, flexibility is also required for the membrane. For example, rolling up the membrane or attaching it to a curved surface may be considered.
Graphene is a representative material known as a monolayer, and has high electrical conductivity and strength, so many studies are being conducted as a new electronic material. Korean Patent Application Laid-Open No. 10-2014-0085869 (2014.07.08.) discloses that graphene has flexibility and that when graphene is used as a support, heavy metal processing efficiency can be increased with a high specific surface area.

In addition, the present invention discloses a method for manufacturing a flexible membrane in order to realize the above problems. The flexible membrane of the present invention, including the
The size of the

When a plurality of
The
In the flexible membrane, since the
However, when the
The
Next, it will be described with reference to the actual photo of the flexible membrane.
2 is an electron micrograph of a polymer substrate.
It can be seen from the photo of FIG. 2 that a plurality of pores are formed in the polymer substrate. In addition, it can be seen from the photo of FIG. 2 that the polymer substrate has pores of about 1 μm or less.
3 is an electron micrograph of a flexible membrane including a graphene membrane and a polymer substrate (pores of 0.4 μm). The graphene membrane consists of two layers.
The small black dots are the pores of the graphene membrane. It can be seen that a plurality of pores are formed in the graphene membrane and the polymer substrate, respectively. From the photo of FIG. 3 , the small pores of the graphene membrane are visually confirmed through the large pores of the polymer substrate.
It can also be confirmed from the photo of FIG. 3 that tearing does not occur in the graphene membrane when the pores of the polymer substrate are smaller than 1 μm.
4 is an electron micrograph of a flexible membrane including a graphene membrane and a polymer substrate (pores greater than 1 μm). The graphene membrane consists of two layers.
When the pores of the polymer substrate exceed 1 μm, the graphene membrane is partially torn due to the water permeability that the graphene membrane cannot handle. In the photo of FIG. 4 , the dark black part corresponds to the torn part of the graphene membrane.
If the graphene membrane is torn, it cannot function as a filter to filter the fluid. This is because the material to be filtered passes through the torn area.
Next, a method for manufacturing the above-described flexible membrane will be described.
5 is a flowchart showing a method for manufacturing the flexible membrane of the present invention.

The foil may be formed of, for example, copper (Cu). Graphene may be grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) or the like.
The graphene membrane grown on the copper foil has a thickness of 5 nm or less. If the graphene membrane consists of a plurality of layers, graphene thinner than 5 nm is grown and then stacked, so that the total thickness is 5 nm or less.

(S300) Then, pores are processed in the graphene membrane. The pores may be formed through a patterning process or the like.
(S400) Next, a graphene membrane having pores formed therein is put in an aqueous hydrofluoric acid (HF) solution to separate the graphene membrane from a silicon wafer or a glass substrate. The graphene membrane is floated on the hydrofluoric acid solution.
(S500) Finally, the graphene membrane is pulled up with a polymer substrate, and the graphene membrane is attached to the polymer substrate to prepare a flexible membrane.
The flexible membrane manufactured by the above method includes a graphene membrane and a polymer substrate, and the graphene membrane and the polymer substrate have flexibility and durability.
