Description
The present invention relates to a thermoelectric substrate and a thermoelectric element using the same, and more particularly, to a thermoelectric substrate in which an insulating substrate and an electrode are integrated, and a thermoelectric element using the same.
The thermoelectric element has a structure in which a P/N junction pair of thermoelectric legs is formed by bonding a P-type thermoelectric semiconductor and an N-type thermoelectric semiconductor between metal electrodes.
When a temperature difference is applied to both ends of the thermoelectric leg, electric power is generated by the seeback effect, through which the thermoelectric element can function as a power generating device. In addition, when a current is applied to the thermoelectric leg, a Peltier effect is generated in which one side is cooled and the other side is heated, so that the thermoelectric element can be used as a temperature control device.
Specifically, in the thermoelectric element, a single or a plurality of thermoelectric legs are arranged between the insulating substrates, and both ends of the thermoelectric legs are formed to be bonded to the electrode.
In general, an insulating substrate used for a thermoelectric device is mainly made of a ceramic material, such as alumina (Al 2 O 3 ), which is electrically insulating and has excellent thermal conductivity.
However, when an insulating substrate made of alumina is used, there is a problem of physical vulnerability, such as a high possibility that a part or all of the alumina is destroyed due to the brittleness of the alumina when assembling the thermoelectric power module.
In addition, alumina has a problem in that the heat transfer efficiency is lower than that of metal, which increases heat loss, and the material cost is significantly higher than that of metal, thereby increasing the manufacturing cost.
In order to solve this problem, Korean Patent Laid-Open Publication No. 10-2018-0089926 'thermoelectric module using an aluminum metal plate or an alloy plate with an aluminum oxide film' is disclosed.
In the disclosed technology, aluminum (Al) metal is oxidized and used as an insulating substrate. However, aluminum has lower heat resistance and strength compared to other metals such as nickel (Ni) or cobalt (Co), and thermoelectricity at a high temperature of 50°C or higher There is a problem in that it can be applied only to low-temperature parts due to poor characteristics.
Accordingly, there is an urgent need to develop a related technology capable of minimizing the heat loss of the thermoelectric substrate, lowering the manufacturing cost, and supplementing the weak aluminum substrate in the high temperature region.

Another object is to increase the concentration of heat at a portion where the electrode and the thermoelectric leg are joined through the grooved structure.
Another object of the present invention is to provide a thermoelectric device capable of selectively applying an appropriate metal according to the temperature range of the thermoelectric substrate.

In addition, in the present invention, it is preferable that a groove is formed so that the thermoelectric semiconductor is inserted, and the unoxidized portion is formed on a bottom surface of the groove.
In addition, the present invention provides a thermoelectric leg in which P and N-type thermoelectric semiconductors are formed to face each other; and first and second substrates disposed below and above the thermoelectric leg, wherein at least one of the first and second substrates is formed of the thermoelectric substrate according to claim 1 . provides
In addition, in the present invention, the first and second substrates are formed of the thermoelectric substrate according to claim 1 , wherein the first substrate is made of aluminum metal or an alloy, and the second substrate is nickel or cobalt metal Or it is preferably made of an alloy.
According to the thermoelectric substrate and the thermoelectric element using the same according to the present invention,
By forming the structure of the insulating substrate and the electrode by metal anodization, there is an advantage of improving the physical stability and heat transfer ability of the thermoelectric substrate.
In addition, by forming a groove in the thermoelectric substrate to wrap a portion to which the thermoelectric legs are joined, it is possible to increase the heat concentration and improve the thermoelectric efficiency.

1 is a perspective view of a thermoelectric substrate according to an embodiment of the present invention.
Referring to FIG. 1 , an embodiment of the
The
In general, the substrate of the thermoelectric element is composed of an insulating substrate and an electrode, so that one side of the electrode is joined to the thermoelectric leg and the other side of the electrode is connected to the insulating substrate.
With this configuration, the thermoelectric semiconductor is connected to the electrode to allow current to flow, and an insulating substrate is disposed outside the thermoelectric element to prevent current from flowing to the outside.
On the other hand, in the
Here, the
Anodizing is also called anodizing, and refers to an electrochemical process of forming an oxide film on an object to be oxidized by flowing an electric current with an anode.
Such anodization is mainly used for decorative coating treatment, architectural anodizing, hard anodizing, corrosion-resistant coating treatment, capacitors, and the like.
The oxide film (A) formed through this process has excellent corrosion resistance as it is formed in a dense oxide structure to prevent corrosion of metals, and has improved durability to protect objects from scratches.
In addition, while the metal or alloy electrically belongs to the conductor, the oxide film (A) obtained by anodic oxidation of the surface of the metal or alloy has the property of an insulator, so it can be used as an insulator.
Specifically, the unoxidized portion B bonded to the
Accordingly, the
However, the portion to be insulated in the
Meanwhile, the size and shape of the unoxidized portion B may vary depending on the size and shape of the
Accordingly, since the
In addition, since the metal or alloy has superior heat transfer ability compared to conventional ceramics, it is possible to reduce heat loss in the
In addition, metals or alloys are cheaper than conventional ceramics, and the cost of materials can be reduced by simplifying the substrate structure in which an insulating substrate separate from the electrode is used.
In addition, since a separate process for attaching the insulating substrate and the electrode is unnecessary, the manufacturing process of the
The shape of the
First, before anodizing the
As another example, after the entire surface of the metal or alloy plate is anodized to form an oxide film (A), the portion to be joined with the
Preferably, the
With this configuration, as the portion where the
Accordingly, the thermoelectric efficiency is improved by maximizing the temperature difference between both ends of the thermoelectric semiconductor.

Referring to FIG. 4 , when both the
In this case, the
Specifically, when it is said that heat is absorbed by the
However, since aluminum deteriorates thermoelectric properties at a high temperature of 50° C. or higher, it may adversely affect thermoelectric efficiency. Accordingly, nickel or cobalt, which exhibits high thermoelectric properties at high temperatures, may be used as a material for the
With this configuration, the thermoelectric efficiency of the
