Description
The technology of the present invention is a technology related to a water security technology for first responding when exposed to radioactivity, and is a technology related to a composite material capable of effectively and quickly removing a radioactive element substance spilled into water in a simple manner.
After the Fukushima nuclear power plant accident, there is growing concern about the possibility of radioactive (radioactive) material leakage in an accident such as a nuclear power plant or a nuclear weapon. If the reservoirs, rivers, etc. are contaminated due to the leakage of radioactive materials, secondary damage may occur, such as a problem in the safe supply of water.
In particular, since radioactive materials such as cesium cannot be decomposed or stabilized physically, chemically, and biologically, it is best to first adsorb them, adsorb them, and then move them to a safe place for storage.
A technique for removing radioactive cesium using Prussian Blue is known from Korean Patent No. 2015-0154486. Prussian Blue is known to be capable of selectively adsorbing and removing cesium due to its lattice structure, but has a problem of separation after treatment due to its size of about several tens of nanometers. In order to solve this, bonding with various supports such as formation of a complex through bonding with magnetic nanoparticles has been attempted, but in most cases, a material that is only physically attached and is difficult to be used in a water treatment process is used.
An object of the present invention is to provide a complex for adsorbing radioactive elements capable of effectively adsorbing radioactive materials by stably attaching Prussian Blue.
In addition, an object of the present invention is to provide a method of applying the complex as a filter material in various water purification facilities such as a tap water purification plant.
The complex for adsorbing radioactive elements according to an embodiment of the present invention includes a support having a polymer-modified surface and an inter-pore pore formed thereon, the first site of which Prussian blue is chemically bound to the polymer; And a second region where the prussian blue is at least partially trapped in the pore.

The complex for adsorbing radioactive elements according to an embodiment of the present invention may be used as at least one water treatment filter medium in a water purification plant to be used to manufacture tap water.
The complex for adsorbing radioactive elements according to the present invention does not physically attach the presynthesized prussian blue to the support, but the prussian blue is synthesized in-situ in the presence of the support, thereby providing excellent binding performance to the support as well as on the support. It is trapped in the pores formed between the polymers, and thus has excellent physical stability.
Therefore, when the complex is used as an adsorbent, it is possible to improve the durability and stability of Prussian Blue, an active ingredient that adsorbs radioactive elements such as cesium.
On the other hand, when the activated carbon is used as the support, it can be applied to a process of manufacturing tap water in a water purification plant, and can function as a basic impurity filter as well as a radioactivity filter in water.
Furthermore, if the support is variously expanded, such as a non-woven fabric, it is expected that it is possible to diversify the application range and method of the composite for adsorbing radioactive elements.

However, the following description also describes exemplary embodiments or experimental contents, and the technical idea of the present invention is not limited by the detailed description below.
Surface modification of granular activated carbon
2 is a conceptual diagram for schematically explaining a method of modifying the surface of granular activated carbon with a polymer by a chemical reaction.
Modifying the surface of activated carbon is the process of binding, for example, melamine to the surface of activated carbon.
(AC-Thio).Referring to FIG. 2, in order to modify the surface of the activated carbon, first, the surface of the activated carbon is oxidized. Through this, oxidized activated carbon (AC-Ox) may be prepared. An acyl chloride group is formed on the surface of the oxidized activated carbon by reacting the oxidized activated carbon with thionyl chloride in the presence of dichloromethane as a pretreatment process on the surface of the oxidized activated carbon (AC-Thio).
(AC-COP).Subsequently, by grafting the activated carbon with melamine in a DMSO solution, activated carbon modified with melamine (AC-Mel) may be prepared. Subsequently, the activated carbon grafted with melamine is prepared with an activated chain having an extended chain through covalent bonding (AC-COP).
The large amount of amino groups present in the polymer enables the adsorption of Fe 2+ or Fe 3+ ions to be actively performed, and the adsorbed Fe ions can be synthesized as Prussian blue, as described below, so that a large amount of Prussian blue is Can be attached. Alternatively, the synthesized Prussian Blue is present in the pores of the polymer network, and thus is trapped in a form, so that external leakage can be prevented.
3 is an SEM photograph showing granular activated carbon before surface modification. 4 is an SEM photograph showing granular activated carbon after surface modification.
3 and 4, the activated carbon before modification has many pores on the surface, but generally shows a clean surface. When melamine was attached during the synthesis process, it was confirmed that melamine was attached to the surface of the activated carbon, particularly the pores. When the polymer was further polymerized using terephthalaldehyde and melamine, it was observed that a thicker layer of polymer was formed. The unit polymer is spherical around 20 nm and is polymerized to have a net shape. The pores formed due to the net have a size of about 10 to 20 nm, and about 100 nm or so.
This size is similar to the size of the previously reported Prussian Blue, confirming that the Prussian Blue formed inside the pores may not leak.
Attaching Prussian Blue
Prussian blue can be synthesized from the polymer of the support at the in-situ level through the reaction of formula (1) below.
Prussian blue does not physically bind the powder form, and chemical bonding can be induced by synthesizing the prussian blue in the presence of a support.
Activated carbon (AC-COP), which is a support, is immersed in a FeCl 3 solution, and a ferrocyanin solution is injected to in-situ synthesis of Prussian Blue.
Evaluation of adhesion performance of Prussian Blue
5 is a graph confirming the presence or absence of desorption phenomenon over time of Prussian Blue after surface modification.
Referring to FIG. 5, Prussian blue in the case of performing surface modification was hardly found in the aqueous solution, and a change in the degree of adhesion was hardly found even with time (30 minutes / 60 minutes). Therefore, it is judged that the adhesion performance of Prussian Blue after surface modification is very excellent.
6 is an SEM photograph of activated carbon with Prussian Blue attached.
Referring to FIG. 6, it was confirmed that prussian blue was deposited on the surface, and the prussian blue inside the polymer could not be observed with the naked eye, but the physically attached portion could be observed in all parts of the activated carbon. The size of the synthesized Prussian Blue was about 10-20 nm.
Table 1 is an elemental ratio of activated carbon immobilized with Prussian blue analyzed through a scanning electron microscope-EDS. About 1.8% of iron was detected by weight ratio, and it was confirmed that about 4% of Prussian Blue was attached.
7 is a graph showing cesium removal performance over time with respect to activated carbon with prussian blue attached and activated carbon alone.
Referring to FIG. 7, in the case of activated carbon with Prussian blue (PB-COP-GAC), it can be confirmed that unlike activated carbon alone (COP-GAC), cesium is adsorbed and removed over time. In particular, it is confirmed that cesium can be efficiently removed in a short time.
Through stable fixation of Prussian Blue, the complex according to the present invention can effectively adsorb radioactive elements such as cesium. In summary, Prussian Blue is stably attached and fixed to activated carbon as a support, so that it is considered to have excellent durability and stability when applied as a composite for adsorption of radioactive elements.

The B region where the prussian blue is physically trapped in the pores formed between the melamine molecules; And
The granular activated carbon itself is separated by a C region captured by Prussian blue in the pores,
The granular activated carbon is surface-modified while the acyl chloride group formed on the surface of the oxidized granular activated carbon is grafted with melamine,
Due to the surface modification, the chain between the melamine and granular activated carbon expands through a continuous covalent bond, thereby forming the intermolecular pores
A complex 100 for adsorbing radioactive elements, which adsorbs cesium through Prussian blue, which is trapped in the pores or bound on granular activated carbon.
