Silicon carbide has recently been used as a semiconductor material for various electronic devices and purposes. Silicon carbide is particularly useful due to its physical strength and high resistance to chemical attack. Silicon carbide can also be used in a variety of applications including radiation hardness, a relatively wide bandgap, a high saturated electron drift velocity, a high operating temperature, and blue, violet, and ultraviolet radiation of the spectrum.
