Description
The present invention relates to a method for producing hydrogen by water decomposition.
Mankind, who have continuously used fossil fuels such as petroleum and coal, has caused global warming by generating a large amount of warming gases such as carbon dioxide, a material after combustion of fossil fuels, and as a result, global destruction continues. Ultimately, even the destruction of mankind has to be concerned. In order to prevent such disasters of the earth and mankind, efforts to suppress the generation of global warming gas such as carbon dioxide are necessary to avoid the use of fossil fuels. Therefore, in recent years, research on the use of nuclear energy, solar energy, and hydrogen energy as a raw material has been increasing. However, since nuclear raw materials are destructive, they may be depleted someday. In contrast, hydrogen energy, which can be continuously supplied by indefinite supply of solar energy and water, can be regarded as having high value as future energy for humankind. In particular, considering the current technology level, hydrogen energy is the only solution for driving a driving device such as an automobile.
Conventional methods for producing hydrogen using water as a raw material include electrolysis using electrical energy and pyrolysis using thermal energy.
The electrolysis method should use electricity, which is high-grade energy, and the water decomposition efficiency is low. On the other hand, pyrolysis is possible by using primary fuel or solar heat. In this method, direct decomposition, which is a one-stage decomposition method, and metal oxide are decomposed into primary heat, separated into metal and oxygen, and then reacted with metal and water to produce hydrogen. There is a two-step indirect digestion process.
However, in the case of the direct decomposition method, the reaction temperature should be at least 2500K, and in the case of the indirect decomposition method, the metal oxide decomposition temperature should be at least 1500K. Therefore, the pyrolysis method has problems such as material problems and thermal efficiency of the reaction system according to the reaction temperature of the high temperature, and therefore, there is no commercial use.
In order to solve the problem of the high temperature reaction, the applicants use a mixture composed of a solid acid or a mixture of materials selected from a solid acid and a metal group, and the water and carrier gas are reacted at a reaction condition of 5 to 100 atm and 500 to 1500 K. It was devised a method (Korea Patent Registration No. 983474) to produce hydrogen while continuously injected into the reactor. However, in this method, the adsorption and decomposition of water to the solid acid are carried out at the same high temperature reaction temperature. Therefore, not only high reaction pressure is required to adsorb water to the solid acid, but also the amount of water adsorbed to the solid acid. There was a problem that could not be adjusted.

By discharging the solid acid in the reactor stayed in the reactor for more than 5 minutes to less than 5 hours to the outside of the reactor to cool through the solid acid cooler (9) and adsorbed again in the solid acid water adsorption vessel (12) to re-introduced into the reactor By repeating the process, hydrogen is continuously produced in the reactor.
In the present invention, the manufacturing method may further include the step of measuring the hydrogen content by gas chromatography (16) by discharging the hydrogen generated in the reactor.
In the present invention, before the step (b), the carrier gas may be injected into the reactor, and after the step (b), may further comprise the step of discharging the gas generated in the reactor mixed with the carrier gas . Carrier gas may enter the reactor 6 from the

In the water decomposition reaction as described above, the water decomposition efficiency can be maximized by adsorbing water to the solid acid in the form of a liquid.
In the present invention, the solid acid is basalt, granite, limestone, sandstone, kaolinite, kapulite, attapulgite, bentonite, bentonite, montmorillonite, zinc oxide (ZnO), aluminum oxide (Al 2 O 3 ) , Titanium oxide (TiO 2 ), cesium oxide (CeO 2 ), vanadium oxide (V 2 O 5 ), silicon oxide (SiO 2 ), chromium oxide (Cr 2 O 3 ), calcium sulfate (CaSO 4 ), manganese sulfate ( MnSO 4 ), nickel sulfate (NiSO 4 ), copper sulfate (CuSO 4 ), cobalt sulfate (CoSO 4 ), cadmium sulfate (CdSO 4 ), iron sulfate II (FeSO 4 ), aluminum sulfate (Al 2 (SO 4 ) 3 ) , Calcium nitrate (Ca (NO 3 ) 2 ), zinc nitrate (Zn (NO 3 ) 2 ), iron nitrate III (Fe (NO 3 ) 3 ), aluminum phosphate (AlPO 4 ), iron phosphate III (FePO 4 ), Chromium Phosphate (CrPO 4 ), Copper Phosphate (Cu 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ), Zinc Phosphate (Zn 3 (PO 4 ) 4 ), Magnesium Phosphate (Mg 3 (PO 4 ) 2 ), Aluminum Chloride (AlCl 3 ), the titanium chloride (TiCl 4), calcium chloride (CaCl 2), calcium fluoride (CaF 2), barium fluoride (BaF 2) and calcium carbonate (CaCO 3) Eojin may be used any one or a mixture of two or more selected from the group.
In the present invention, the solid acid may be mixed with a metal. In this case, water decomposition efficiency may be improved by the metal at a low reaction temperature of 1500 K or less. This is because the electron transfer is more activated by the metal in the process of moving the surface electrons of the solid acid to the hydrogen ions of the water. The metal may be any one selected from aluminum, zinc, iron, cobalt, manganese, chromium and nickel, a mixture of two or more, or two or more alloys.
In the present invention, the solid acid and the metal may be used in the form of powder, respectively. It is also possible to use those having a particle size of 20 to 500 mesh. The solid acid powder and the metal powder have a larger surface area as the particle size decreases, and the reaction efficiency increases as the particle size decreases. However, when the particle size is 500 mesh or less, it may be lost to the outside of the reactor by the flow rate of the carrier gas, and when the particle size is larger than 20 mesh, the reaction efficiency may be greatly reduced. Therefore, in consideration of reactivity and process maintenance, the size of the solid acid powder and the metal powder is preferably 20 mesh to 500 mesh.
In the present invention, the solid acid mixture formed by mixing the metal with the solid acid may use a form in which metal particles are deposited in the pores of the solid acid powder. In this case, the smaller the size of the metal particles, the higher the reaction efficiency, so that the diameter of the metal particles may be 10 μm or less.
In the present invention, the solid acid mixture formed by mixing the metal with the solid acid is in the form of coating the metal powder on the surface of the solid acid powder or in the form of coating the solid acid powder on the surface of the metal powder, the coated metal film or the solid acid film The thickness of may be more than 10nm 10㎛ or less. The reaction efficiency is good when the thickness of the metal film or the solid acid film is more than 10 nm and 10 m or less.
In the present invention, in the solid acid mixture formed by mixing the metal with the solid acid, the solid acid may be included in 60% by weight or more, and the metal may be included in 40% by weight or less. When the metal powder is contained in an amount exceeding 40% by weight, the reaction of the metal powder with water takes place predominantly, so that the effect of decomposing water by solid acid is remarkably reduced. Therefore, more preferably, the best efficiency can be obtained when the content of the metal powder is maintained at 20% by weight or less.
In the present invention, the mixture of the solid acid and the metal may be mixed with the electrolyte, and in this case, water decomposition efficiency may be improved by the electrolyte. This is because the electron transfer becomes more efficient by the electrolyte while the surface electrons of the solid acid move to the hydrogen ions of the water.
The electrolyte is sodium chloride (NaCl), sodium chloride (KCl), sodium nitrate (NaNO 3 ), sodium nitrate (KNO 3 ), sodium sulfate (Na 2 SO 4 ), sodium sulfate (K 2 SO 4 ), lithium carbonate (Li 2 CO 3 ), sodium carbonate (Na 2 CO 3 ), carry carbonate (K 2 CO 3 ), sodium dihydrogen phosphate (NaH 2 PO 4 ), sodium hydrogen phosphate (Na 2 HPO 4 ), sodium hydroxide, (NaOH), With potassium hydroxide (KOH), magnesium chloride (MgCl 2 ), magnesium nitrate (Mg (NO 3 ) 2 ), magnesium sulfate (MgSO 4 ), calcium hydroxide (Ca (OH) 2 ) and magnesium hydroxide (Mg (OH) 2 ) Any one or a mixture of two or more selected from the group consisting of can be used.
In the present invention, the solid acid, the metal, and the electrolyte may be in the form of powder, respectively, and have a particle size of 20 to 500 mesh. The smaller the particle size, the wider the surface area of the solid acid powder, the metal powder and the electrolyte powder, so that the smaller the particle size, the higher the reaction efficiency. However, when the particle size is 500 mesh or less, it may be lost to the outside of the reactor by the flow rate of the carrier gas, and when larger than 20 mesh, the reaction efficiency may be greatly reduced. Therefore, in consideration of reactivity and process maintenance, the size of the solid acid powder and the metal powder is preferably 20 mesh to 500 mesh.
In the present invention, the solid acid mixture formed by mixing the metal and the electrolyte with the solid acid may use a form in which electrolyte particles are deposited in the pores of the solid acid and the metal mixture. In this case, the smaller the size of the electrolyte particles, the higher the reaction efficiency. Therefore, it is preferable to deposit and use the electrolyte particles having a diameter of 10 μm or less in the pores of the solid acid and the metal powder.
In the present invention, the solid acid mixture formed by mixing the metal and the electrolyte with the solid acid is in the form of coating the electrolyte powder on the surface of the solid acid and the metal powder, or in the form of coating the solid acid powder on the surface of the metal and electrolyte powder, The thickness of the coated electrolyte membrane or solid acid membrane may be greater than 10 nm and 10 μm or less. The reaction efficiency is good when the thickness of the metal film or the solid acid film is more than 10 nm and 10 m or less.
In the present invention, in the solid acid mixture formed by mixing the metal and the electrolyte with the solid acid, the solid acid and the metal mixture may be included in 70% by weight or more, and the metal may be included in 30% by weight or less. In the case of containing more than 30% by weight of the electrolyte powder, the electrolyte rather inhibits the movement of electrons, thereby significantly reducing the water decomposition effect by the solid acid. Therefore, more preferably, when the content of the electrolyte powder is maintained at 15 wt% or less, the best efficiency can be obtained.
In the water decomposition reaction according to the present invention, in the step (b), the reaction temperature inside the reactor is maintained at 500 K or more and 1500 K or less, and the reactor pressure is preferably maintained at 0.5 or more and 100 atm or less from the viewpoint of reaction efficiency and economics.
Water decomposition reactions are always possible at reaction temperatures above 373 K, but below 500 K water decomposition efficiency is low. In addition, the higher the reaction temperature, the higher the water decomposition efficiency, but in the case of exceeding 1500K, the increase in efficiency is greatly reduced. Therefore, it is preferable to maintain the temperature of 500K or more and 1500K or less.
In the water decomposition reaction by the solid acid, the higher the reaction pressure, the more the amount of water adsorbed on the solid acid. As a result, the higher the reaction pressure, the greater the production of hydrogen. However, as the reaction pressure is increased, the rate of water decomposition is gradually decreased, and when it exceeds 100 atm, the water decomposition efficiency per unit time is greatly reduced. In addition, the lower the reaction pressure has the advantage of increasing the rate of water decomposition reaction, but the production of hydrogen was reduced, especially in the case of maintaining below 0.5 atm increased the additional cost significantly reduced the economics of water decomposition hydrogen production. Therefore, it is preferable to maintain the pressure of the water decomposition reaction at 0.5 to 100 atm.
Meanwhile, in the method for producing hydrogen by water decomposition according to the present invention, a reactor made of a heat resistant and pressure resistant material is used. In the water decomposition reaction, the reactor temperature is maintained at 500 to 1500 K, and the pressure is maintained at 100 atm or less, so that the reaction proceeds stably within the above temperature and pressure range. The heat resistant and pressure resistant material includes iron (SUS) steel, carbon steel, or a mixture thereof containing 70% or more of iron. If the reactor uses a material other than iron, the melting point is low, so that the reactor may rust under high temperature or high pressure, or the reactor itself may affect the chemical reaction. Therefore, when the melting point is more than 70% iron content of 1700 ℃ or more has the advantage that does not affect the reaction even under high temperature and high pressure.

1 ml of argon is injected into the reactor while the reactor 6 (inner volume 120 ml) of FIG. 1 is heated with a heater 7 to maintain the reactor internal temperature at 1000 K. The solid acid shown in Table 1 was pulverized to an average size of about 100 mesh, and then placed in the
As can be seen in Table 1, there is a difference in the amount of hydrogen generated according to the type of solid acid used in this experiment, but all the solid acids decompose water to generate a significant amount of hydrogen. It can also be seen that the hydrogen concentration is maintained after 3 hours have elapsed since the start of the reaction.
Comparative Experiment 1: Comparison of Hydrogen Production
Hydrogen production was compared according to the hydrolysis hydrogen production method using alumina solid acid.
After grinding the alumina solid acid to an average of about 100 mesh, 25% by weight of water was adsorbed onto the solid acid. The alumina solid acid adsorbed with water was continuously charged to a reactor maintained at 1000 K at atmospheric pressure according to the method of Experimental Example 1, and the content of hydrogen product in the gas discharged from the reactor 6 until 120 hours after the start of the reaction was determined. It was measured using the graph (16) and the cumulative hydrogen generation amount is shown in Table 2.
이후, 수증기 공급용기로부터 수증기를 323 K 이하로 유지되는 상기 반응기(6) 내부로 주입하여 물 20g을 고체산에 흡착시키고, 상기 반응기(6) 온도를 1000K로 승온하여 유지시키며 상압(1기압)에서 5시간 동안 물 분해에 의한 수소 생산 반응을 지속시킨 후, 4시간 동안 상기 반응기(6) 온도를 323K로 낮추어, 다시 물 흡착, 물 분해에 의한 수소 생산 반응, 반응기 온도 낮추기를 12시간 간격으로 되풀이시키며 반응개시 후 120시간까지 상기 반응기(6)로부터 방출된 기체 중 수소 생성물의 함량을 가스크로마토그래피(16)를 이용하여 측정하고 누적 수소 발생량을 표 2에 나타내었다(비교예 1).In addition, after grinding the alumina solid acid to an average of about 100 mesh, 60g was taken and mounted in the reactor (6) of FIG. Thereafter, water vapor is injected from the steam supply container into the reactor 6 maintained at 323 K or less, and 20 g of water is adsorbed to the solid acid, and the temperature of the reactor 6 is maintained at 1000 K, followed by atmospheric pressure (1 atm). The hydrogen production reaction by water decomposition was continued for 5 hours at, and then the reactor 6 temperature was lowered to 323 K for 4 hours, and water adsorption, hydrogen production reaction by water decomposition, and reactor temperature were lowered every 12 hours. The content of the hydrogen product in the gas discharged from the reactor 6 until 120 hours after the start of the reaction was measured using
In addition, after grinding the alumina solid acid to an average of about 100 mesh, 60g was taken into the
Looking at Table 2, it can be seen that the difference between the amount of hydrogen produced by the method of producing hydrogen by water decomposition of the present invention and the amount of hydrogen produced by Comparative Examples 1 and 2 increases as the reaction time increases. In the method according to Comparative Example 1, the water decomposition reaction could not proceed during the process of cooling the reactor and adsorbing water to the solid acid mounted in the reactor, and in the method according to Comparative Example 2, water was adsorbed to the solid acid. Since the decomposition process was carried out at the same high temperature reaction temperature, not only the high reaction pressure was required to adsorb water to the solid acid, but also the amount of water adsorbed on the solid acid could not be controlled.
Experimental Example 2: Water Decomposition Reaction Characteristics According to Reaction Temperature
The reaction characteristics of the reaction temperature were investigated using silica solid acid. 1 mL of argon was injected into the reactor while the reactor 6 (inner volume 120 mL) of FIG. 1 was heated with a heater 7 to maintain the reactor internal temperature at the temperature in Table 3. The silica solid acid was pulverized to an average size of about 100 mesh and then placed in the

Titanium oxide solid acid was used to investigate the water decomposition reaction characteristics for the reaction pressure change. 1 mL of argon was injected into the reactor while the reactor 6 (inner volume 120 mL) of FIG. 1 was heated with a heater 7 to maintain the reactor internal temperature at 1000K. The titanium oxide solid acid was pulverized to an average size of about 100 mesh and then placed in the
As can be seen in Table 4, the higher the hydrogen pressure, the higher the hydrogen concentration increased, but the reaction time to reach the highest hydrogen concentration was delayed. In addition, after showing the highest hydrogen concentration, even after the reaction time, the hydrogen concentration was maintained at a level similar to the highest hydrogen concentration.
