The present invention relates to a supercapacitor cell and a method of manufacturing the same.
Supercapacitors are also commonly referred to as Electric Double Layer Capacitors (EDLCs), Supercapacitors or Ultracapacitors, which are the interface between electrodes and conductors and the electrolyte solution impregnated therewith. Accordingly, supercapacitors are mainly used in the form of backing up IC (integrated circuit) of various electric and electronic devices. Recently, the use of supercapacitors has been widely applied to toys, solar energy storage, and hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) power supply. have.
Such a supercapacitor generally includes two electrodes of a positive electrode and a negative electrode impregnated with an electrolyte, a separator made of a porous material interposed between the two electrodes to allow only ion conduction, and to prevent insulation and short circuit, and an electrolyte solution. The
An electrolyte solution in which lithium salt is dissolved is impregnated so that the roll-shaped winding
The cell thus fabricated is schematically shown in FIG. 4, which may be used as a hybrid supercapacitor. 4 illustrates a case where the
Hereinafter, a method of doping lithium on the surface and inside of activated carbon in the
In the
When a voltage is applied to the
On the other hand, activated carbon and lithium have a potential difference of about 0.3V as shown in FIG. In FIG. 5, (a) is a graph showing time versus voltage characteristics for activated carbon, and (b) is a graph showing time versus voltage characteristics for lithium. As can be seen from FIG. 5, when lithium is doped on the surface of the activated carbon constituting the negative electrode, the negative electrode potential will be decreased by this, and the capacity of the supercapacitor cell is increased by insertion and desorption by lithium doped on the surface of the activated carbon. It is effective. For example, if the capacitor using the lithium-doped activated carbon as the negative electrode has an operating voltage of 2.3V, the capacitor using the lithium-doped activated carbon as the negative electrode may have an operating voltage of about 2.6V.
A negative electrode including lithium-doped activated carbon may be used to implement a supercapacitor cell that realizes a high energy density per unit volume.
The supercapacitor cell of the present invention can realize an operating voltage of more than 2.6V per unit cell and a capacity of 40F / cc.
In order to observe whether the operating voltage increases when the activated carbon is doped with lithium and whether high capacity can be realized, a supercapacitor was manufactured and compared with a general supercapacitor as in the following test example.

Separately, 10 parts by weight of polyvinylidene fluoride (PVdF) was added to N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP), which is methyl pyrrolidone, and mixed. Then, the two mixtures were added to a planetary mixer (manufacturer: TK, model name: Hivis disper), dispersed by stirring for 1 hour, dispersed, and then mixed with stirring for 1 hour by adding
Next, an electrode was prepared by double-coating a mixture including the lithium transition metal oxide on a 20 μm aluminum etching foil. The thickness of the electrode thus prepared was fabricated to 100 μm including the foil and used as the anode.
상기 전해액은 프로필렌카보네이트(propylene carbonate; PC) 용매에 TEABF4(tetraethylammonium tetrafluoborate) 1M과 LiBF4(lithium tetrafluoroborate) 1M이 첨가된 것을 사용하였다. 상기 분리막은 TF4035(일본 NKK사 제품)를 사용하였다. Applying the positive electrode and the negative electrode thus prepared is placed in the aluminum case of 18mm in diameter, 40mm in height and the negative electrode of the prepared positive electrode and lithium doped activated carbon electrode, and prevent the short circuit of the positive electrode and the negative electrode between the positive electrode and the negative electrode In order to dispose the separator for winding, an electrolyte solution containing lithium salt was injected to impregnate the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The electrolyte was used to add 1M TEABF 4 (tetraethylammonium tetrafluoborate) and 1M LiBF 4 (lithium tetrafluoroborate) in propylene carbonate (PC) solvent. As the separator, TF4035 (manufactured by NKK, Japan) was used.
The operating voltage, capacitance, equivalent series resistance (ESR) of the supercapacitors thus prepared were measured, and the results are shown in Table 1 below.

FIG. 7 is a graph showing a change in discharge capacitance according to a cycle of a supercapacitor manufactured according to the test example. In Figure 7 (a) is a case of measuring the discharge capacitance of the cycle at a voltage of 2.3V, (b) is a case of measuring the discharge capacitance of the cycle at a voltage of 2.5V, (c) is a 2.7V This is for the case where the discharge capacitance according to the cycle is measured by voltage.
The supercapacitor made by the conventional manufacturing method was made into this comparative example. That is, it compared with the 1840 (phi 18mm x 40mm) winding-type product which is a specification of 120F and 2.3V which lithium is not electrodeposited to an activated carbon electrode. The wound product shown as a comparative example uses the same winding, separator and electrolyte as in the above test example.
In addition, operating voltage, capacity, and equivalent series resistance (ESR) were measured in the same manner as in the above test example, and the results are shown in Table 1 below.
As shown in Table 1, the supercapacitor using the lithium-doped activated carbon electrode according to the test example as a negative electrode has a capacity of 25% or more, even when using the same activated carbon as compared to the comparative example according to the prior art. It can be seen that the density is improved by more than 35%.
In addition, the ESR also shows the same value due to the improvement of electrode density, indicating that the energy density of the supercapacitor has risen dramatically.
FIG. 9 is a graph showing a change in discharge capacitance according to a cycle of a supercapacitor according to a test example and a comparative example. In Figure 9 (a) shows the characteristics of the supercapacitor manufactured according to the test example, the discharge capacitance of the cycle was measured at a voltage of 2.7V, (b) shows the characteristics of the supercapacitor according to the comparative example This is for the case where the discharge capacitance according to the cycle is measured with the voltage of 2.3V.
Referring to FIG. 9, it can be seen that in both (a) and (b), the discharging capacitance tends to decrease as the cycle increases. From this, it can be seen that the supercapacitor manufactured according to the above test example operates at 2.3 volt operating voltage as well as at 2.7 volt operating voltage. It can be seen that it exhibits the same discharge capacitance characteristics as the capacitor according to.
