도 4는 도 3의 I~I' 선상을 자른 단면도.
상기 액정층은 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 또는 FLC(Ferro-Electric Liquid Crystal)를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다
상기 액정층의 액정분자는 상기 수평 방향의 전기장에 의해 제어되는 나선형 피치를 갖는 것이 바람직하다
상기 제 1 및 제 2 액정층은 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 또는 FLC(Ferro-Electric Liquid Crystal)를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 액정층은 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 또는 FLC(Ferro-Electric Liquid Crystal)를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 제 1 및 제 2 액정층의 액정분자는 상기 수평 방향의 전기장에 의해 제어되는 나선형 피치를 갖는 것이 바람직하다.
상기 제 1 및 제 2 액정층은 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 또는 FLC(Ferro-Electric Liquid Crystal)를 사용하는 것이 바람직하다.
Claims (21)
- 서로 대향하는 상부 기판 및 하부 기판과,상기 하부 기판 상에서 수평 방향의 전기장을 만드는 공통 전극 및 데이터 전극과,상기 하부 기판과 상기 공통 전극 사이에 형성된 광흡수층과,상기 두 기판 사이에 형성된, 나선형 배열을 갖는 액정층을 포함함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정층의 액정분자는 상기 수평 방향의 전기장에 의해 제어되는 나선형 피치를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 2 항에 있어서,상기 액정층으로부터는 상기 액정분자의 나선형 피치와 동일한 파장을 갖는 빛이 반사됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 상부 기판과 상기 하부 기판은 투명 기판임을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 하부 기판 상에 형성된 광흡수층과,상기 하부 기판 상에 형성된 게이트 라인, 게이트 전극, 공통 라인 및 공통 전극과,상기 공통 전극을 포함하는 상기 하부 기판의 전면에 형성되는 게이트 절연막과,상기 게이트 전극 상측의 게이트 절연막상에 형성된 반도체층과,상기 반도체층의 양측에 형성된 소스/드레인 전극과,상기 게이트 라인에 수직하도록 상기 게이트 절연막 상에 형성된 데이터 라인 및 데이터 전극과,상기 데이터 전극을 포함한 하부 기판 상에 형성된 보호막과,상기 보호막 상에 형성된 제 1 배향막과,상기 하부 기판에 대향하는 상부 기판 상에 형성되어, 상기 데이터 라인, 게이트 라인 및 박막트랜지스터로의 빛샘을 막기 위한 블랙매트릭스와,상기 블랙매트릭스를 포함하는 상기 상부 기판 상에 형성된 제 2 배향막과,상기 상하부 기판 사이에 형성된, 나선형 배열을 갖는 액정층을 포함하고,상기 광흡수층은 상기 하부 기판과 상기 공통 전극 사이에 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 상부 기판 및 하부 기판은 투명기판임을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 삭제
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 공통 전극 및 데이터 전극에 인가되는 전압의 크기와 상기 액정층의 나선형 피치의 크기가 비례함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 제 1 및 제 2 배향막은 러빙을 하지 않은 배향막, 또는 약한 앵커링 에너지(Weak anchoring energy)를 갖는 배향막이 사용됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 액정층의 나선형 축이 상기 상하부 기판면에 대하여 수직하게 배열됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 기판 상에 형성된 광흡수층과,상기 제 1 기판의 상부에 형성 제 1 공통 전극 및 제 1 데이터 전극과,상기 제 1 공통 전극 및 제 1 데이터 전극으로부터 유도되는 수평 방향의 전기장에 의해 일방향의 원편광의 빛을 반사하는, 나선형 배열을 갖는 제 1 액정층과,상기 제 1 액정층 상에 형성된 제 2 기판과,상기 제 2 기판 상에 형성되고, 상기 제 1 액정층과 서로 다른 원편광의 빛을 반사하는, 나선형 배열을 갖는 제 2 액정층과,상기 제 2 액정층 상에 형성된 상기 제 3 기판과,상기 제 2 액정층을 제어하기 위해 상기 제 2 또는 제 3 기판 상에 형성되는 제 2 공통전극 및 제 2 데이터 전극을 포함하고,상기 광흡수층은 상기 제 1 기판과 상기 제 1 공통 전극 사이에 형성됨을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.

- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 제 1 기판 및 제 2 기판 상에 제 1 및 제 2 배향막을 더 구비함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 제 2 기판 및 제 3 기판 상에 제 3 및 제 4 배향막을 더 구비함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 제 1 액정층과 제 2 기판 사이에 형성되는 제 4 기판을 더 포함함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 11 항에 있어서,상기 제 4 기판과 제 2 기판 사이에 형성되는 위상차판을 더 포함함을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 1 항에 있어서,상기 액정층은 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 또는 FLC(Ferro-Electric Liquid Crystal)를 사용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 액정층의 액정분자는 상기 수평 방향의 전기장에 의해 제어되는 나선형 피치를 갖는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
- 제 5 항에 있어서,상기 액정층은 CLC(Cholesteric Liquid Crystal) 또는 FLC(Ferro-Electric Liquid Crystal)를 사용하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정표시장치.
