Abstract

A refrigerator having a supplement storage chamber is provided to control the temperature of the supplement storage chamber independently from a refrigerating compartment for keeping food at proper temperature to restrain evaporation of moisture from the food, thereby keeping the food for a long time freshly. A refrigerator includes a supplement storage chamber(20), of which temperature is kept independently from that of a refrigerating compartment, wherein temperature control for the supplement storage chamber is carried out by direct cooling or indirect heating. The supplement storage chamber has a separate receiving part(24) formed with a space inside, and a heat transfer element(50) at least partially surrounding the separate receiving part and transmitting chilled air or hot air thereto via heat transfer. The separate receiving part has an inclined inner top surface for dropping condensed frost down. The separate receiving part is formed with heat transfer openings(26) in a surface partially surrounded by the heat transfer element.
