Description
Name of invention]
Feeding device for conveying workpieces to a series of work places
Background of invention]
Field of Invention]
The present invention relates to a workpiece conveying apparatus for conveying a workpiece through a series of work places arranged collinearly at equal intervals so that the work is carried out in accordance with a predetermined work order, and in particular, at a work place, the work is carried out in the apparatus. A workpiece feeder for automatically transporting to another adjacent work site.
Private Technology]
Automated and partially automated devices for transporting workpieces through a series of work places, each of which is performed in a series of operations, have become commonplace in the manufacturing sector, such as the metalworking industry, in a short time. In production operations such as metal stamping, a number of separate stamping operations are required to form a metal plate into a product such as a vehicle wheel lid. Rather than using multiple separate presses to print such parts, it is better to use a single stroke feed feed press to perform a variety of stamping operations at different locations. In general, a pair of dies are placed above and below each workplace. For each stroke of the press, the workpiece will be press molded between a pair of dies. Each work piece is continuously molded in the form of a finished piece by each die pair by moving past a series of work places.
Obviously, for the effective operation of this transfer press, it is important to simultaneously transport the workpiece from one workplace to the next between the respective strokes of the press. In addition, it is often required to relocate the workpiece to the various dies of the transfer press. For example, the workpiece must be capable of linear or rotational movement in the horizontal direction. Typically, it is necessary to reposition the workpiece several times before the molding of the workpiece is completed. Several devices are prepared in advance for the rapid and accurate movement of workpieces in different directions.
One of the devices for repetitive workpiece transport and multiple relocations is a working beam that provides feed rails that extend along both sides of the horizontal linear axis (X axis) through the workplaces where the workpieces are placed between each adjacent workplace. There is a walking-beam device. Finger grippers are arranged on the transfer rails for hanging the workpiece. In this type of device, each of the rails is designed to move along the X and Z axes (vertical axes). It raises and lowers the workpiece and moves it linearly from one place to another. In addition, the finger gripper is coupled to the actuator so as to be able to move laterally (along the Y axis) to hang the workpiece or to separate it from the workpiece. Therefore, according to this structure, the finger grippers first grasp the workpiece by the operation of the actuator. Then, the workpiece is transported linearly to the next work place by the operation of the transfer rail. The workpiece is then lowered and the finger grippers are retracted and separated from the workpiece for the operation of the press.
Although these transfer devices are widely used, they have many drawbacks. For example, many small stamping manufacturers and plate mold technicians do not have transfer presses requiring significant investment, but also need to double transfer press movements for die testing or for shorter operating times. There is.
And since the standard transfer press supports the rails at both ends of the X axis rather than in the middle, the rails must be very heavy and have a cross section to minimize deflection. Moving these rails at manufacturing speed requires large gears, cams, and a huge frame skeleton that provides stability and supports the mechanism.
In addition, standard transfer presses typically have standardized rail positions and provide two or three different spaces between the rails in the elevated position. The standard feed press has a limited number of members on the X axis, and cannot move the moving distance in the vertical direction or the front and rear directions. Standardized members are unique to each manufacturer and are not standardized in the industry as a whole. Therefore, it is virtually impossible to combine a transfer press for one company to be used by several press manufacturers.
A more serious problem with standard transfer presses is the lack of provision for easy removal of the rails to replace the die. Since the conveying rails serve to provide the load and no load of the workpiece into the press, it must be longer than the distance between the pillars of the press. Therefore, a sophisticated coupling device is needed to remove part of the rail when the tool is removed. As a result, it is expensive to change dies and it is difficult to change and remove rails.
Some of these problems are described in US Pat. No. 4,621,516 to Schafer et al. That is, a device is disclosed in which the conveying rail cannot move in a straight direction from one work place to another work place. Here, the secondary rail is attached on the rail and the finger units are in turn attached on the secondary rail. The secondary rail is designed to reciprocate along the X axis between neighboring workspaces. This movement is driven by a servomotor supported on the secondary rail. The finger unit is designed to move towards and away from the workpiece and is operated by auxiliary servo motors. In order to raise and lower the workpiece, lift columns are provided at the position where the transfer rail is mounted. These lift columns are operated by electric servomotors. According to the design of the swapper, the servomotors that provide the lateral movement of the finger units are correctly carried along the secondary rail. This reduces the size of the rails, simplifies the device and reduces malfunctions. Since fewer instruments are located in the press, less disturbing operation of the press is provided. However, despite the improvement of the swapper, many mechanisms are still arranged on the conveying rails. These mechanisms make it difficult to change the device for improvement.
It is desirable to provide a transfer rail that is supported at the center to have a small rail cross section, and to have the transfer device have a predetermined length. Modular devices can provide longer conveying devices than are currently possible.
It would be desirable to provide a more flexible feeder that can provide multiple rail positions and adjust the finger units moving in three directions.
In addition, it is desirable to provide an improved economic apparatus in which finger units can be placed on rails in relation to a workpiece during die installation and commissioning when the transfer press is not normally available. Such devices include actuators that provide easier access to the die for maintenance and can be removed while keeping the rail in place for the workpiece.
A device that also follows the operation of the transfer press used in the die factory to check for proper clearance of the moving parts of the die in relation to the transfer rail, finger unit and workpiece movement path without the need to actually set the dies in the transfer press. It is preferable to provide.
Modular devices have the advantage that the modules can be manufactured in a limited number and size, and can be used with presses of various sizes and configurations, regardless of the press design or conveying direction.
Summary of invention]
The present invention provides a modular device that is particularly useful for transporting a workpiece along a series of spaced and aligned work places. A preferred embodiment of the present invention employs a transfer press, which carries a workpiece in any device having a series of workplaces arranged in a straight line along the axis, spaced at equal intervals and performing the work in a predetermined order on the workpiece. Useful for
In a preferred embodiment, a pair of transport rails spaced side by side extends longitudinally along both sides of the aligned work places. Preferably, the pair of rails is mounted on the side to allow access of the press. A number of workpiece gripping finger units are mounted on individually controllable finger unit rails suitable for holding the workpiece and transporting it between neighboring workplaces. Finger unit rails are mounted on their respective transport rails.
Each finger unit extends laterally towards the workplaces associated with the finger unit and terminates at the free end with the workpiece engaging mechanism attached to the finger unit. The workpiece coupling mechanism is suitable for hanging or supporting a workpiece, and carrying the workpiece between neighboring workplaces. In an embodiment, the workpiece engagement mechanism consists of horizontally extending fingers suitable for lifting the workpiece from below. The horizontally extending finger shape of the workpiece coupling mechanism for lifting the workpiece allows two parallel rails and adjacent finger unit rails to lift the workpiece over both sides. Such a device is suitable for moving large and heavy workpieces that undergo a stamping operation in the transfer press.
Individually controllable means reciprocally linearly moves the finger unit rail along the direction of movement of the workpiece as the workpiece passes through a series of aligned workplaces. Finger unit rails are slidably attached on the transfer rail.
The at least one actuator unit is independently supported from the transfer rail and is located at a point laterally away from the transfer rail on one side of the transfer rail opposite the work places. If a pair of transfer rails is provided, at least one pair of actuators will be provided on each transfer rail side. Each actuator unit has an arm or carriage extending laterally. The arm or carriage is suitable for supporting the conveying rail and for providing vertical and lateral movement to the conveying rail. The lateral movement proceeds along the Y axis in a direction consistent with the movement of the finger units that engage and disengage from the workpiece. The vertical motion moves along the Z axis in a direction corresponding to the motion of the finger unit for raising and lowering the workpiece.
In a preferred embodiment, the actuator unit comprises a dual axis hydraulic actuator, which actuates the arms on the X and Y axes to grasp and lift the workpiece, which is then carried to the next work site by the finger unit rail. To retreat. The hydraulic actuator consists of a pair of cylinders connected in parallel to a single fluid source driven by an independent motor. By discharging the fluid, it will first move along the axis to provide the least resistance until the arm reaches the stop. Then move along the second axis. This is because the second axis provides the least resistance to movement. In this way, the actuator unit obtains a series of driving forces without the need for additional timing devices.
In a preferred embodiment, the actuator unit and the operating motor are independently supported and remain fixed relative to the conveying rails. In another embodiment the actuator units consist of modular units which are coupled and separated in relation to the transfer rail.
The conveying device of the present invention has the advantage of moving the finger unit in three directions necessary for the effective conveying of the workpiece and the realignment of the conveying rails. In comparison with the prior art, an actuator or motor which moves in three directions is placed on a transfer rail or a finger unit rail. Thereby, the conveyance rail can be manufactured compactly and lightly. In addition, the actuator units are supported separately from the conveying rails. As a result, an effective modular device can be obtained.
Preferably, the conveying device comprises at least one sensor means for sensing the operating state of the associated production system for operating simultaneously with the conveying mechanism. In the case of a transfer press, sensor means are attached on the press ram to detect the position of the ram during each stroke of the press. The sensor is operatively connected to the finger unit unit rail and the means for controlling the movement of the transfer rail to simultaneously carry out the movement of the workpieces through the associated successive workplaces to perform a series of actions in time. Through this central control, a large number of complex conveyances and multiple relocations are carried out simultaneously with the operation of the press in a fast, accurate and effective manner.
The linear actuator for imparting reciprocation to the finger unit rails moves in relation to the conveying rails but is supported independently from the conveying rails. The motor running the linear actuator is supported independently of the conveying rail and remains independent of the movement of the conveying rail.
In the described embodiment, the linear actuator is an associated belt drive that is supported independently from the conveying rail and moves with it, providing reciprocating motion to the finger unit rail. The drive of the belt is driven by an independent motor which remains fixed while the transfer rail and finger unit rails are in operation. The valve drive includes a belt attached to the moving rail to reciprocate in the direction of movement of the workpiece. The belt is driven by a transverse spline shaft, which provides the axial movement of the conveying rail towards the work site. When the workpiece is lifted, the transverse spline shaft is driven by the vertical spline shaft to provide vertical movement to the feed rail. The vertical spline shaft is driven by a motor which is held against the conveying rail and the finger unit rails.
In one embodiment, actuator units and motors for the transfer rail and finger unit rails are mounted on the crown of the transfer press to allow unobstructed access to the die and places of operation.
In an embodiment, the transfer rails and their associated finger unit rails and the like are provided on each side of the transfer press. Each side is mechanically independent of each other, but is electrically synchronized with the press ram sensor. In this way, the transfer rails and the finger units act independently, but are coupled to transfer the workpiece between the work places.

The transfer press 12 has a number of workplaces 14 in which a series of stamping operations are performed on successive workpieces. The ram 16 supports a plurality of half of the upper die 20a. According to each stroke of the ram 16, the workpiece W is fixed between the upper die 20a and the lower die 20b associated therewith. Thus, the work W is molded. The lower die 20b is mounted on the bolster 22 and the upper die 20a is mounted on the ram 16. The transfer press 12 is referred to as the upper fixing part crown 18.
In FIG. 2, the conveying device extends in the longitudinal direction in a parallel spaced manner along both sides of the various work places 14 in the conveying press 12. Although a pair of facing transfer apparatuses is illustrated, depending on the size or type of workpiece to be transferred, a single apparatus as shown in FIG. 2A may be used. The transport apparatus 10 includes a transport rail 24 disposed laterally outward of the work place 14 and the die 20 and extending generally parallel with the work place and the dies. Finger unit rails 26 are provided on both sides of the pair of transfer rails 24 in the inner lateral direction of the transfer rails 24 near the work place 14. A plurality of finger units 28 are mounted on the finger unit rails 26, which extend in the lateral direction toward the workpiece W. FIG. The plurality of finger units 28 are terminated in the workpiece coupling portion 31. In the illustrated embodiment, each workpiece engaging portion 31 is a place for fixing the corners of each of the plurality of workpieces W when the workpiece is continuously transferred from one adjacent workplace 14 to another. to provide. The plurality of workpiece couplings 31 may be of various shapes and configurations, such as, for example, fastening fingers.
The plurality of finger units 28 are arranged equally spaced apart in the longitudinal direction along the conveying rail 24. In the case of the workpiece W shown in the figure, the finger units 28 are arranged in pairs such that the actuator unit 30 supports each corner of the workpiece W. The spacing between adjacent pairs of finger units 28 coincides with the spacing between workplaces.
The finger unit rails 26 are configured to move in a reciprocating linear motion in the direction along the X axis with respect to the transfer rail 24, that is, in the movement direction of the workpiece W below the line of the work place 14. It is slidably mounted on a raceway 25. This reciprocating linear movement of the finger unit rail 26 is made by a belt 56 which is installed in the housing 52 on the transfer rail 24 and driven by a belt drive as shown in FIG. When the belt drive and the belt are driven by an appropriately controlled current, the belt unit 26 moves reciprocally linearly with the transfer rail 24.
The linear reciprocation of the finger unit rail 26 along the feed rail 24 causes the finger unit 28 to reciprocate linearly along the X axis as shown by the arrows in FIG. At least one actuator unit 30 as shown in FIG. 6 to move the finger unit 28 in the Z-axis direction (up-down direction) and in the Y-axis direction (lateral direction engaged with and separated from the workpiece W). ) Is provided. The actuator unit 30 is supported separately from the transfer rail 24. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the actuator unit 30 is mounted by a longitudinal support frame 32 extending parallel along the side of the transfer press.
The actuator unit 30 may be installed in or in a modular housing in which the actuator unit 30 is easily moved to engage and disengage the transfer press, for example a roll or caster.
The actuator unit 30 comprises an arm or transfer carriage 34 extending laterally, which extends in the direction of the workpiece and supports the transfer rail 24. In the embodiment shown in FIGS. 2A and 2B, a pair of actuator units 30 and transport carriages 34 associated therewith are provided to suitably support the transport rails 24. Each transfer rail 24 requires at least one actuator unit 30 and typically requires a pair of actuator units 30 to support each transfer rail 24.
2B and 3 to 5, a belt drive device and a belt drive motor for reciprocating sliding the finger unit rail 26 along the X axis are shown in detail. The belt driving device is driven by the reciprocating rotation motor 36. The reciprocating rotation motor is connected to the drive wheel 40 that is slidably engaged with the vertical spline shaft 42 through the belt 38. The reciprocating motion provided by the motor 36 to the vertical spline shaft 42 is transmitted to the transverse spline shaft 50 via the gearbox 44, the belt 46 and the drive wheel 48. The lateral spline shaft 50 is connected to the drive wheel 54 through the wall of the housing 52 on the transfer rail 24. The drive wheel 54 is located in the housing as shown in FIG. The drive wheel 54 has a non-drive counter portion spaced apart in the longitudinal direction from the drive wheel in the housing 52. The drive belt 56 is installed between the two wheels. It can be seen that the reciprocating rotational motion of the motor 36 is transmitted by the belt drive to the drive belt installed in the housing 52 on the transfer rail 24.
Referring now to FIGS. 4A and 4B, the finger unit rail 26 is slidably mounted laterally inside the feed rail 24 along the bearing Y axis. The bearing block is equipped with a number of bearings or rollers 61 that engage with the raceway 25 block installed on the conveying rail 24. A support bracket arm 62 fastened to the drive belt 56 by an appropriate mounting structure 64 extends over the transfer rail 24 and is firmly attached to the finger unit rail 26. When the drive belt 56 reciprocates in the housing, the support bracket arm 62 connected to the drive belt reciprocates the finger unit rail 26 with respect to the transfer rail along the direction of motion of the drive belt, i.e., the X axis.
The belt construction consisting of the motor 36, the drive wheel 40 and the belt 38 is supported on the surface 33 of a separate longitudinal support frame 32 fixed to the conveying rail. A belt drive consisting of a vertical spline shaft 42, a gearbox 44, a belt 46, a wheel 48, and a lateral spline shaft 50 is adapted to move together along the Z axis, so that the housing 49 of the device 49 It is connected to the carriage support 68 of the transfer carriage 34 which is conveyed to the actuator unit 30 through the ().
Extending laterally inward along the Y axis of the transfer rail 24, the transverse spline shaft 50 is mounted to slide in the upper drive gear wheel 48 and is connected to the drive belt in the housing 52 via the link assembly 51. Is pulled by sliding engagement with the upper drive gear wheel 48. When the conveying rail is lifted along the Z axis by the actuator unit 30, for example when lifting a workpiece joined from the work site, the belt drive causes the vertical spline shaft 42 to slide through the drive wheel 40. According to the actuator unit.
When the belt drive moves linearly along the Y and Z axes with the conveying rails, i.e. when the workpiece is picked up by the finger unit and lifted out of the work place, the motor 36 of the fixed belt drive is driven by the finger unit rail 26 and To reciprocate along the X axis between adjacent work places. By separately supporting and installing the belt drive motor and the belt drive associated with the transfer rail 24 and the finger unit rail 26, the supported weight is reduced, so that the size and weight of the rail are reduced and the operation rate is high.
Referring now to FIGS. 6-9, an actuator unit 30 for providing movement to the conveying rail along the X and Y axes is shown in cross section. The transport carriage 34 supporting the transport rail 24 is slidably mounted to the carriage support 68 along the Y axis. Thereby, it can slide in turn along the Z axis with respect to the base 70 of the actuator unit. According to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the actuator unit consists of a double axis actuator for driving each workpiece transfer unit, which is essentially a lifting of the second hydraulic cylinder 72 and the translating agent. It consists of two hydraulic cylinders 74. The first hydraulic cylinder of the lift is attached to the base of the actuator unit, and its cylinder rod 73 is connected to the carriage support. A second linear hydraulic cylinder is attached to the carriage support, the cylinder rod 75 of which is connected to the transport carriage.
The operation of the dual axis actuator for driving the actuator unit will now be described with reference to FIGS. 7 and 8. By the cylinder rod 75 of the second linear hydraulic cylinder 74, the transfer carriage 34 moves in the Y direction with respect to the support 68. As shown in FIG. The solid line in FIG. 7 shows the transfer carriage 34 at the position where the workpiece is bitten, and the dotted line indicates the retraction position of the workpiece. The operation of the first hydraulic cylinder 72 and cylinder rod 73 of the ascending movement of the carriage carriage 34 and the carriage support 68 in the Z direction is shown in FIG. The solid line indicates the transport carriage 34 when in the highest position, and the dotted line indicates the lowest position for lifting the workpiece. As the carriage carriage 34 moves in the Y-axis and Z-axis directions, the transfer rail 24, the finger unit rail 26 and the plurality of finger units 28 move correspondingly. This linear motion engages and lifts the workpiece W before the workpiece moves to the next work site 14 in the X-axis direction. The workpiece W is then lowered and withdrawn in order to provide room for the next stroke of the press.
The workpiece transfer device 10 supports the transfer rail by using a central control unit to supply compressed fluid through the fluid conduit to drive each of the first hydraulic cylinder 72 and the linear second hydraulic cylinder 74 of the lift. The actuator units 30 can all be operated simultaneously.
A rising first hydraulic cylinder 72 and an actuating second hydraulic cylinder 74 for driving the two different actuator units mentioned above are schematically shown in FIG. Also shown is a source third hydraulic cylinder 76 with a cylinder rod 77 attached to the rack 78 and pinion gear 80. The rotary motor 82 reciprocates the cylinder rod 77 of the third hydraulic cylinder 76 of the source via the rack 78 and the pinion gear 80. The third hydraulic cylinder 76 of the source, the rotary motor 82 and the rack and pinion which mesh with each other are shown in detail in FIGS. 10 and 11. In the illustrated embodiment, all of the structures in FIGS. 10 and 11 are attached to the longitudinal support frame 32 adjacent the floor as shown in FIG. 2A.
The first hydraulic cylinder 72 of elevation and the second hydraulic cylinder 74 of direct motion have a fluid port A and a ratio B disposed on opposite sides of each piston. These fluid ports are connected to similarly marked ports on both sides of the third hydraulic cylinder 76 of the source. As the piston of the source's third hydraulic cylinder 76 is operated toward the fluid port labeled A, the fluid actuates the first hydraulic cylinder 72 of rise and the second hydraulic cylinder 74 of direct action, respectively. And out through the fluid port A (A). Initially, because of the weight of the transfer unit 24, the finger unit rail 26, and the finger unit 28 for holding the workpiece W to be lowered and raised by the rising first hydraulic cylinder 72, The rod 75 of the second hydraulic cylinder 74 has a smaller resistance to movement than the rod 75 of the first hydraulic cylinder 72 of the lift. As a result, the rod 75 of the actuating second hydraulic cylinder 74 extends to allow the finger unit 28 to grab the workpiece W. FIG. Once the rod 75 of the actuating second hydraulic cylinder 74 is fully extended, the rod 73 of the rising first hydraulic cylinder 72 is extended because the resistance acting against the movement is reduced. As a result, the finger unit holding the feed rail 24, the finger unit rail 26, and the workpiece | work W raises.
During the second cycle of the cycle, the rod 77 of the third hydraulic cylinder 76 of the source is indicated by the ratio B by the rotary motor 82 operating via the rack 78 and the pinion gear 80. To the fluid port. Thus the fluid enters the fluid conduit 84 through the fluid port, denoted B. The fluid conduit supplies fluid to the fluid port B of the linear hydraulic second hydraulic cylinder 74 and the rising first hydraulic cylinder 72. During this cycle, the weight of the feed rail 24, finger unit rail 26, finger unit 28 and the workpiece W associated therewith is such that the rod 73 of the rising first hydraulic cylinder 72 is withdrawn. To help. Since the resistance to movement is small, first, the rod 73 of the first hydraulic cylinder 72 ascending retreats, and then the rod 75 of the linear hydraulic second hydraulic cylinder 74 retreats. Thus, the actuator unit puts the workpiece W in the lower position and then retracts the finger unit 28.
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the third hydraulic pressure of the source to supply fluid to all sets of the first hydraulic cylinder 72 and the second linear hydraulic cylinder 74 located in different actuator units 30, respectively. One cylinder 76 is used. As a result, all actuator units of the transfer press are automatically operated simultaneously without gears, cams, complicated mechanical timing devices, or complicated electronic servomechanisms.
In addition to using one of the third hydraulic cylinders 76 of the source, as shown in FIG. 9, the linear hydraulic second hydraulic cylinder 74 and the lift Each hydraulic cylinder 72 can be driven. Simultaneous operation is enabled by simultaneously driving the third hydraulic cylinder 77 of all sources with racks 78.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention, all hydraulic cylinders have a single rod. However, in another embodiment of the present invention, every single rod hydraulic cylinder can be replaced with a double rod hydraulic cylinder with a rod extending at each end. Such single rod hydraulic cylinders and double rod hydraulic cylinders are widely used commercially and are well known to those skilled in the art.
Therefore, the workpiece transport apparatus according to the present invention can move a plurality of workpieces W along three axial directions. Now, the movement of a single workpiece W that proceeds during the normal cycle of the transfer press 12 is described. In order to load the workpiece W onto the transfer press, a pair of finger unit rails 26 are typically made longer than the rest of the device. Assuming that the above loading is performed when the workpiece finger unit is raised to the engagement position indicated by the solid line in Fig. 12, the first hydraulic cylinder 72 of the lift is placed in the extended position and the second hydraulic cylinder of the linear motion ( 74) and the transport carriage also extends. By operation of the belt drive mentioned above, the workpiece W is moved along the X axis towards the first work place 14. As soon as the workpiece arrives at a certain correct position along the X axis such that the workpiece is properly aligned with the upper die 20a and the lower die 20b, the movement in the direction of the X axis is stopped and the lifting cylinder is retracted. Workpiece W is lowered to the working position. The linear second hydraulic cylinder 74 and the transfer carriage 34 are also retracted to separate the workpiece W from the finger unit 28. At this time, the ram 16 operates to fix the work W between the upper die 20a and the lower die 20b. The ram 16 is raised after the operation of the ram is completed. If the finger unit is disconnected from the workpiece W during the ram operation, the die is formed such that the belt drive reciprocates along the X axis in the opposite direction to the finger unit rail 26. Thus, the new finger unit device is placed in the engaged position with the workpiece W. Then, the transport carriage 34 is moved to the extended position along the Y axis, whereby the finger unit 28 is engaged with the workpiece (W). The ascending first hydraulic cylinder 72 moves to the extended position along the Z axis direction to lift the workpiece to the position shown in FIG. As mentioned above, after the finger unit 28 grabs and lifts the workpiece, the belt drive moves the workpiece W a sufficient distance along the X axis in order to be aligned with the next work place 14. This cycle is repeated over and over again. In each cycle of the workpiece feeder 10, a number of workpieces are carried between each adjacent work place. In order to transport a single workpiece W through many all workplaces 14, it is necessary to go through as many cycles as there are workplaces 14. Obviously, in order to operate the device accurately and efficiently, a single movement of multiple workpieces in all directions of the three axes must be performed accurately with respect to travel distance and time. As a result, each transfer rail, and thus the multiple actuator units 30 and the belt drive associated therewith, must be able to be controlled independently. An independent controller (not shown) for each side of the feeder is connected to the central controller 60 shown in FIG. Sensor means such as absolute position transducers (not shown) are faulty in the press ram in a well known manner, and are used to detect the position of the ram 16. By providing the central controller 60 with the information obtained from the sensor device, the operation of each part of the mechanically independent device 10 is carried out at the same time as the conveyance and alignment of the multiple workpieces W together with the operation of the transfer press 12. To be electronically integrated. This can be accomplished by simultaneously operating the belt drive for each of the various motor means of the actuator unit 30 and the respective feeders on both sides of the press in the proper sequence.
Since each conveying device 10 on both sides of the conveying press 12 can be controlled independently, the conveying device 10 is used for rearranging and rearranging a plurality of workpieces W necessary for each fixing operation. For example, the right member of the pair of finger unit rails 26 can move at a faster rate than the left member. This movement can rotate the workpiece to some extent. Similarly, the movement of the actuator unit 30 can be varied to adapt to the operating conditions.
As shown in the preferred embodiment, the actuator unit 30 is a dual axis fluid actuator. However, the invention is not limited to actuators of this type, but includes other suitable devices for imparting linear motion.
The feeder can also be operated in a wide variety of transfer presses, which are widely designed according to their size. Thus, in a facility with various types of transfer presses, it is possible to move the transfer device 10 from one transfer press to another transfer press. The conveying device is prefabricated and can then add as many parts as necessary to adapt to the size of the press and the number of work places. The actuator unit 30 can be used with an existing device with a die mounted to a transfer rail. At this time, the transfer rail uses a transverse sliding bracket. Therefore, device detachment of existing devices is inexpensive and easy. Moreover, when changing dies, it is much easier than prior art devices. Also, several actuators, motors, and drive parts are placed directly on the transfer rail, and the presses, actuator motors, and actuators of the drive parts are placed on the outer board of the press itself, compared to the prior art devices which interfere with each other. Since it is supported independently from the unit rail, the volume of rail required to support the device is reduced, as well as easy to operate.
In the alternative embodiment shown in FIG. 13, the conveying device of the present invention is mounted or suspended to the upper press crown (shown in FIG. 1) via the support frame 29. This conveying device works in the same way as mentioned above, but greatly increases the use of the floor space adjacent to the conveying press and does not disturb access to it. It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that the support frame 29 can be provided in a variety of forms and that the size of the actuator unit can be varied to suit the top mounting.
The embodiment herein described a transfer device installed in a transfer press, which can be used for any device in which multiple workpieces need to be repeatedly transported from one place to another. For example, this repetitive transfer is necessary when operating punch presses, coating equipment, paint strainers, and the like. In addition, it will be understood by those skilled in the art that other applications are possible without departing from the spirit of the invention.
Therefore, the scope of the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, but only by the appended claims.
