Description
The present invention relates to a laminate in which a polymer layer containing a plurality of unit polymer layers containing a tetrafluoroethylene-based polymer is laminated on a long base material layer, and a method for producing the same.
Tetrafluoroethylene-based polymers (TFE-based polymers) such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) are excellent in physical properties such as chemical resistance, water and oil repellency, heat resistance, and electrical properties. Therefore, by laminating a polymer layer or a film of a TFE-based polymer on a base material layer, a laminated body having the above characteristics can be obtained. Such a laminate is suitably used as a material for a printed wiring board.
However, since the TFE-based polymer has poor adhesive strength, heat treatment is required regardless of whether the dispersion liquid or the film is used when the polymer layer is formed on the surface of the base material layer. In this case, the high linear expansion coefficient of the TFE polymer is the cause, and the laminate tends to warp. Therefore, measures are taken to limit the thickness of the polymer layer or to combine other layers having different linear expansion coefficients (see Patent Documents 1 and 2).
However, in the case of the laminates of
As a result of diligent studies, the present inventors have formed a polymer layer by laminating a plurality of unit polymer layers when using a TFE-based polymer, and determine the conditions (thickness, molding conditions, etc.) of each unit polymer layer. It was found that, if set, a laminate having a thick polymer layer and a low warpage rate can be obtained.

Further, such a pyrolytic fluoropolymer is also referred to as an oxyethylene group (hereinafter, also referred to as “EO group”) and a polyfluoroalkyloxycarbonyl group (hereinafter, also referred to as “F group”) from the viewpoint of exhibiting good pyrolysis behavior. An oxyethylene polymer having ()) (hereinafter, also referred to as “EO polymer”) is preferable.
In this case, the content of the EO group of the EO polymer is preferably 20 to 50% by mass, more preferably 25 to 40% by mass. An EO polymer having an EO group at the above content has a good balance between the EO group content and the F group content, and therefore functions suitably as a dispersant in a temperature range in which a wet film is a dry film. .. Further, if such an EO polymer is used, the amount of the component derived from the EO polymer in the

The symbols in the formula have the following meanings.
n is 12 to 200, preferably 20 to 120.
RH is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a phenyl group, and is preferably a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
A side chain containing an EO group having such a structure is preferable because decomposition starts in a temperature region in which a wet film is used as a dry film. Further, by selecting the number of n and the type of RH , the affinity of the EO polymer for the powder or the liquid dispersion medium can be adjusted accordingly.
Specific examples of the group represented by the above formula include -C (O) O- (CH 2 CH 2 O) 90- H, -C (O) O- (CH 2 CH 2 O) 120- H, and-.
On the other hand, the fluorine content of the EO polymer is preferably 20 to 40% by mass, more preferably 25 to 40% by mass. The fluorine-containing EO polymer has a good balance between the F group content and the EO group content, and therefore functions suitably as a dispersant in the temperature range in which the wet film is a dry film. Further, if such an EO polymer is used, it is easier to control the amount of the component derived from the EO polymer in the

F基の具体例としては、−C(O)OCH2(CF2)6F、−C(O)OCH2(CF2)4F、−C(O)OCH2CH2(CF2)6F、−C(O)OCH2CH2(CF2)4Fが挙げられる。F group is contained in the side chain of the EO polymer, the formula: -C (O) O-Q H -R group represented by F is more preferred.

Q H is a methylene group (-CH 2 -) or
R F is a polyfluoroalkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms, - (CF 2) 4 F or - (CF 2) is preferably 6 F.
Side chains containing such F group, since the number of carbon atoms of Q H is small, the cutting of more increasing ester bond influence of electron-withdrawing by fluorine atoms R F is likely to occur. Therefore, it is easier to control the amount of EO polymer decomposition products in the
Specific examples of the F group include -C (O) OCH 2 (CF 2 ) 6 F, -C (O) OCH 2 (CF 2 ) 4 F, and -C (O) OCH 2 CH 2 (CF 2 ) 6. F, -C (O) OCH 2 CH 2 (CF 2 ) 4 F can be mentioned.
As EO polymer in the present invention has the formula: CH 2 = CX H C ( O) O- (
The symbols in the formula have the following meanings.
XH is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
RH has the same meaning as above.
XF is a hydrogen atom, a chlorine atom or a methyl group, and is preferably a hydrogen atom or a methyl group.
Q H and R F is, respectively the same meanings as described above.
The amount of the unit EO and the amount of the unit F with respect to all the units contained in the EO polymer are preferably 10 to 40 mol% and 60 to 90 mol% in this order.
When the amount of each unit with respect to all the units contained in the EO polymer is within the above range, the dispersibility of the
The EO polymer may consist of only the unit EO and the unit F, and may further contain additional units other than the unit EO and the unit F as long as the effects of the present invention are not impaired.
The mass reduction rate of the EO polymer at 150 ° C. is preferably 50% or more, more preferably 60% or more, still more preferably 70% or more. If the mass reduction rate at 150 ° C. is within the above range, it is considered that the decomposition of the F group occurs together with the preferential decomposition of the EO group in the temperature region where the wet film is used as the dry film. Therefore, the EO polymer sufficiently functions as a powder dispersant in the process of drying the wet film, and a dry film having excellent shape stability can be obtained.
The mass reduction rate of the EO polymer at 350 ° C. is preferably 80% or more, more preferably 90% or more. If the mass reduction rates at 150 ° C. and 350 ° C. have the above relationship, it is considered that the components derived from the remaining EO polymer are gradually decomposed in the temperature region where the dry film is the polymer layer 3 (firing film). Therefore, the amount of gas generated by the decomposition of the component derived from the EO polymer is small, and it is easy to prevent the surface smoothness of the obtained
The thermal decomposition behavior of such an EO polymer can be adjusted by selecting the types of EO groups and F groups and setting the contents of EO groups and F groups.
The binder in the present invention is different from the TFE-based polymer and the polymer constituting the dispersant, and is preferably polyamide-imide or polyimide.
When the powder dispersion liquid contains a binder, the powder falling off is suppressed, the uniformity and surface smoothness of the
The 5% weight loss temperature of the binder is preferably 260 ° C. or higher, more preferably 320 ° C. or higher. The 5% weight loss temperature of the binder is preferably 600 ° C. or lower. In this case, the adhesion between the
The binder is soluble in the liquid dispersion medium of the powder dispersion, and the solubility (g / liquid dispersion medium 100 g) of the powder dispersion in the liquid dispersion at 25 ° C. is preferably 5 to 30. In this case, the original physical properties of the TFE-based polymer such as electrical characteristics are exhibited as they are, and the adhesion is likely to be improved. In particular, when the proportion of the binder in the powder dispersion is low, the effect is likely to be improved.
The polymer constituting the binder may be a non-reactive polymer or a reactive polymer.
The non-reactive polymer means a polymer having no reactive group in which a reaction occurs under the conditions of use of the powder dispersion. For example, the non-reactive polyimide means a polyimide that has already been imidized and does not undergo a further imidization reaction.
On the other hand, the reactive polymer means a polymer having the above-mentioned reactive group and in which a reaction (condensation reaction, addition reaction, etc.) occurs under the conditions of use of the powder dispersion. For example, the reaction-type polyimide is a precursor of polyimide (such as polyimide in which an imidization reaction has partially progressed such as polyamic acid), and the imidization reaction further occurs under the conditions of use of the powder dispersion (heating, etc.). It means polyimide.
The polymer constituting the binder may be thermoplastic or thermosetting.
If the polymer is thermoplastic, the fluidity of the binder resin is enhanced by heating when forming a layer (coating film) from the powder dispersion liquid, a dense and uniform polymer layer is formed, and the adhesion is improved. It's easy to do. As the thermoplastic polymer, a non-reactive thermoplastic polymer is preferable.
The glass transition point of the thermoplastic polymer is preferably 500 ° C. or lower. The glass transition point is more preferably 200 ° C. or higher. In this case, in the formation of the
On the other hand, if the polymer constituting the binder is thermosetting, the linear expansion property is likely to be further lowered by containing the cured product in the polymer layer. As the thermosetting polymer, a reactive thermosetting polymer is preferable.

The viscosity of the

The stirring speed in the stirring treatment is preferably 100 to 5000 rpm, more preferably 300 to 1000 rpm. In this range, it is easy to suppress deterioration (aggregation, filbling, etc.) of the TFE-based polymer while uniformly dispersing the powder in the

In the drying oven D, the wet membrane is held at the volatilization temperature of the liquid dispersion medium, and the liquid dispersion medium is removed from the wet membrane and dried.
The "drying temperature (volatile temperature of the liquid dispersion medium)" is preferably a temperature equal to or higher than the boiling point of the liquid dispersion medium, and more preferably a temperature of + 50 ° C., which is the boiling point of the liquid dispersion medium. The drying temperature means the temperature of the atmosphere in the drying furnace D. Drying may be performed in two or more steps at different temperatures.
Drying may be carried out under either normal pressure or reduced pressure.
The dry atmosphere may be any of an oxidizing gas atmosphere (oxygen gas and the like), a reducing gas atmosphere (hydrogen gas and the like), and an inert gas atmosphere (helium gas, neon gas, argon gas, nitrogen gas and the like).
The drying temperature is preferably 50 to 280 ° C, more preferably 120 to 260 ° C. The drying time is preferably 0.1 to 30 minutes, more preferably 0.5 to 20 minutes.
If the wet film is dried under the above conditions, the laminate 1 can be suitably manufactured while maintaining high productivity.
As the drying oven D, an oven, a ventilation drying oven, a device for irradiating heat rays such as infrared rays is used.
In the firing furnace F, the TFE polymer is fired at a firing temperature exceeding the drying temperature to form the

The firing temperature is preferably 300 ° C. or higher, more preferably 330 to 380 ° C., and even more preferably 350 to 370 ° C. In this range, it is easy to balance the fusion of the TFE-based polymer and the suppression of the generation of hydrofluoric acid by the decomposition of the TFE-based polymer. The firing temperature means the temperature of the atmosphere in the firing furnace D.
The firing time is preferably 30 seconds to 30 minutes, more preferably 1 minute to 1
Further, the firing may be performed under either normal pressure or reduced pressure.
The firing atmosphere may be any of an oxidizing gas atmosphere (oxygen gas and the like), a reducing gas atmosphere (hydrogen gas and the like), and an inert gas atmosphere (helium gas, neon gas, argon gas, nitrogen gas and the like). However, from the viewpoint of suppressing oxidative deterioration of each of the
The oxygen gas concentration in the inert gas atmosphere is controlled to be low, and the concentration is preferably 100 to 500 ppm, more preferably 200 to 300 ppm.
Further, the reducing gas atmosphere is composed of an inert gas and a reducing gas, and a mixed gas in which the oxygen gas concentration is suppressed to be low is preferable, and nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas of 0.1% by volume or more and less than 4% by volume are used. A mixed gas composed of the above and having an oxygen gas concentration suppressed to 100 to 500 ppm is more preferable. The oxygen gas concentration in the mixed gas is more preferably 200 to 300 ppm.
Further, at the time of firing, in order to improve the smoothness of the surface of the
As the firing furnace F, an oven, a ventilation drying furnace, a device for irradiating heat rays such as infrared rays, and the like are used. The firing furnace F is preferably a device that irradiates far infrared rays (far infrared rays furnace) because it can be fired in a short time and is relatively compact.
The heat source of the firing furnace F may be a combination of an infrared irradiation source and a hot air supply source.
The effective wavelength band of far infrared rays is preferably 2 to 20 μm, more preferably 3 to 7 μm, from the viewpoint of promoting homogeneous fusion of the TFE polymer.
In the drying furnace D and the firing furnace F, it is preferable to arrange the heat source above the inside of the furnace so as to directly heat the wet film and the dry film. With such an arrangement, it is possible to prevent preferential heat conduction from occurring in the
By laminating the plurality of unit polymer layers 31 as described above, the
The absolute value of the coefficient of linear expansion of the polymer layer of the laminate 1 is 50 ppm / ° C. or less, preferably 30 ppm / ° C. or less, and more preferably 25 ppm / ° C. or less. The absolute value of the linear expansion coefficient of the polymer layer of the laminate 1 is preferably 0.1 ppm / ° C. or higher, more preferably 1 ppm / ° C. or higher. If the laminate 1 has a polymer layer having such a coefficient of linear expansion, its warpage is further suppressed, so that a printed wiring board having excellent characteristics can be manufactured.
Such a laminated body 1 can be obtained by appropriately setting the conditions of each
It is preferable that each

The
Further, when the thickness of the unit polymer layer is 10 μm or less, the physical properties such as chemical resistance of the laminated body are likely to be further improved. For example, in a laminated body having the same thickness of the
Further, as described above, each

The thickness of each

Further, the

Moreover, as a preferable embodiment, an embodiment containing an inorganic filler as a different component can be mentioned. Examples of the inorganic filler include boron nitride filler, verilia filler, silica filler, wollastonite filler, talc filler, cerium oxide filler, aluminum oxide filler, magnesium oxide filler, zinc oxide filler, titanium oxide filler and the like. In such an embodiment, the inorganic filler contained in each unit polymer layer may be the same inorganic filler or different inorganic fillers. Further, the shape and content of the inorganic filler contained in each unit polymer layer may be the same or different.
For example, when the
In these preferred embodiments, it is easier to adjust various physical properties such as the coefficient of linear expansion of the polymer layer of the laminate 1 based on the physical properties of the components.
Examples of the component different from the suitable TFE-based polymer include a component derived from a dispersant. The above component is preferably the dispersant itself or a decomposition product (decomposition residue) of the dispersant.
Examples of the component different from the suitable TFE-based polymer include a component derived from a binder. The above components are preferably the binder itself or a reactant of the binder (a cured product of a curable polymer when the binder is composed of a curable polymer, etc.).
A component different from the TFE-based polymer may be contained in the
For example, in the
The
Further, as shown in FIG. 1, in the two adjacent unit polymer layers 31, the amount of
When the

Further, if each
Since the laminate 1 may have a warp ratio within the above range, it is not necessary for all of the unit polymer layers 31 to include the

[Example 1] Example of manufacturing evaluation of laminated body (No. 1)

Next, the operation of forming the unit polymer layer (thickness 5 μm) on the surface of the first unit polymer layer is repeated 5 times in the same manner as described above, and the laminate 11 having the polymer layer (
As a result of confirming the cross section of the laminated body 11 with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), it was confirmed that a minute space exists between two adjacent unit polymer layers. Further, particulate components different from those of the fluoropolymer 1 are present in each unit polymer layer, and the distribution density of the components contained in the unit polymer layer on the side closer to the copper foil is on the side far from the substrate. It was confirmed that the density of the components contained in the unit polymer layer was lower than that of the components.

The following evaluations were carried out for each laminated body.
<Linear expansion coefficient of laminated body>
A test piece of a square polymer layer having a length of 20 mm and a width of 4 mm was cut out from the laminate. The test piece was annealed at 150 ° C. for 30 minutes with a tension of 6 mN applied in the length direction. After that, the dimensional change rate of the test piece when the test piece was exposed to an atmosphere where the temperature was raised from 30 ° C. to 200 ° C. at 2 ° C./min was measured, and the linear expansion coefficient (ppm / ° C.) of the laminated body was measured. did.
