An anode conductor 2 is provided facing the cathode conductor 1, and a phosphor crystal 3 is attached to the tip of the anode conductor 2. The cathode conductor 1 and the anode conductor 2 are accommodated in the vacuum vessel 4. Since the cathode conductor 1 on which the carbon film 5 is formed is used, cold cathode electrons can be generated efficiently. Since the phosphor crystal 3 is used, the lamp life can be extended even with a point light source, and a field emission point light source lamp optimum for the projection light source of the projection type liquid crystal display device can be realized.
Description
The present invention relates to a field emission point light source lamp, and more particularly to a field emission point light source lamp used for a projection light source of a projection type liquid crystal display device, an automobile head lamp, a medical lamp, and a laser excitation lamp.
An example of a conventional field emission lamp will be briefly described. The field emission lamp whose sectional view is shown in FIG. 5 (b) is a lamp having a triode structure disclosed in Patent Document 2. This lamp is used as a projector light source of the projection type liquid crystal display device. Further, some conventional field emission lamps have a cylindrical shape as described in Non-Patent Document 1. Non-Patent Documents 1 to 3 describe a method of forming a carbon film on the cathode of a field emission lamp by CVD.
However, in the conventional field emission lamp, since the number of electrons per cathode surface area, that is, the amount of current is small, it is difficult to make a point light source. In addition, when the size of the phosphor is brought close to a point light source, the current density increases, the deterioration due to heat progresses quickly, and the life is shortened. Therefore, a long-life point light source lamp for a projection light source of a projection type liquid crystal display device It could not be realized. An object of the present invention is to solve the above-mentioned conventional problems and to realize a field emission point light source lamp having a long lifetime for a projection type liquid crystal display device.
In order to solve the above-described problems, in the present invention, a field emission point light source lamp includes a cathode conductor, an anode conductor facing the cathode conductor, a phosphor crystal attached to the cathode-side tip of the anode conductor, and a cathode conductor. And a vacuum vessel that accommodates the anode conductor. Also, a carbon film is formed on the anode side surface of the cathode conductor by a CVD method.

蛍光体は、低電圧用では、Zn0.2Cd0.8S:Ag,Cl(赤)、Zn0.62Cd0.98S:Ag,Cl(緑)、ZnS:Ag,Al(青)を用いる。高電圧用では、Y2O3:Eu(赤)、Gd2O2S:Tb(緑)、ZnS:Ag(青)を用いる。
Hereinafter, the best mode for carrying out the present invention will be described in detail with reference to FIGS. 1 to 4. FIG.
In the embodiment of the present invention, a cathode conductor having a graphite film formed on the surface by a CVD method is provided to face an anode conductor having a phosphor crystal attached to the tip on the cathode side, and the cathode conductor and the anode conductor are accommodated in a vacuum vessel. This is a field emission point light source lamp.
The structure and manufacturing method of the field emission point light source lamp in the Example of this invention are demonstrated. FIG. 1 is a schematic sectional view of a field emission point light source lamp in an embodiment of the present invention. FIG. 2 is a sectional view, a front view, and a rear view showing a state in which a field emission point light source lamp is attached to a reflector bracket. FIG. 3 is a schematic cross-sectional view of another example of a field emission point light source lamp. FIG. 4 is a schematic cross-sectional view of still another example. 1 to 4, the cathode conductor 1 is an electrode on the cathode side. The anode conductor 2 is an electrode on the anode side. The phosphor crystal 3 is a phosphor crystal disposed at the cathode-side tip of the anode conductor 2. The vacuum vessel 4 is a transparent vessel that accommodates a cathode conductor and an anode conductor. The carbon film 5 is a graphite film formed on the cathode conductor by a CVD method in order to increase the electron emission efficiency. The reflector bracket is the same as that for a conventional halogen lamp.
A carbon film 5 of graphite is formed on the surface of the cathode conductor 1 by a CVD method. The thickness of the carbon film 5 is 2 to 3 μm. By appropriately controlling the conditions of the CVD method, the density of the electron emission points of the carbon film 5 on the cathode conductor 1 can be 10 7 / cm 2 . For the method of forming a graphite film by the CVD method, see Non-Patent Documents 1 to 3 and the like.
An anode conductor 2 is provided to face the cathode conductor 1. As the cathode conductor 1 and the anode conductor 2, a 3d transition metal such as Ni, Fe, or Cu can be used. The cathode conductor 1 in the example of FIG. 3 uses a 3d transition metal film or the like, and the anode conductor 2 uses a transparent ITO film or the like. A phosphor crystal 3 that generates white light or one of the three primary colors is attached to the tip of the anode conductor 2 on the cathode side. The size of the phosphor crystal is about 1 mm × 1 mm. Phosphors are Zn 0.2 Cd 0.8 S: Ag, Cl (red), Zn 0.62 Cd 0.98 S: Ag, Cl (green), ZnS: Ag, Al (blue) for low voltage use. ) Is used. For high voltage use, Y 2 O 3 : Eu (red), Gd 2 O 2 S: Tb (green), and ZnS: Ag (blue) are used. As the phosphor crystal 3, one that does not deteriorate even at a high temperature is suitable. In the conventional powder fluorescent paint, when the temperature exceeds 200 ° C., the high vapor pressure element contained in the sample escapes from the sample, so that the deterioration of the fluorescent paint starts. By using phosphor crystals and crystal light emitters (crystal light emitters currently used in LEDs), particularly single crystals, deterioration due to temperature can be suppressed. However, since the crystal structure is broken when the melting point of the crystal is exceeded, the function of the light emitter is lost.
The distance between the electrodes of the cathode conductor 1 and the anode conductor 2 is 10 to 20 μm at the shortest, but can be increased to about 10 mm. The cathode conductor 1 and the anode conductor 2 are accommodated in the vacuum vessel 4. The degree of vacuum is 10 −2 to 10 −3 torr.
The operation of the field emission point light source lamp in the embodiment of the present invention configured as described above will be described. A unipolar pulse voltage is applied between the cathode conductor 1 and the anode conductor 2. The voltage is 500-1 kV. The voltage can be increased to about 10 kV. The frequency is 1 to 5 kHz. The pulse width is 3 to 8 μsec. The discharge start voltage is 1 V / μm. The current density of the cathode is 10 mA / cm 2 (at 10 V / μm). The basic configuration of the lighting power source may be the same as that for a conventional field emission lamp.
When a voltage is applied between the cathode conductor 1 and the anode conductor 2, cold cathode electrons jump out of the carbon film 5 on the cathode conductor 1 by field emission, hit the phosphor crystal 3, and generate fluorescence. The fluorescence emitted from the phosphor crystal 3 is emitted in each direction. In the example of FIG. 3, the light transmitted through the cathode conductor 1 is emitted from above the drawing. In the example of FIG. 4, the light emitted from the phosphor crystal 3 is emitted from the upper part of the drawing, and the light emitted from the lower part of the drawing is also reflected by the lamp shade and emitted from the upper part of the drawing. Brightness, about 200,000 cd / m 2 in a single color, white, is about 30,000 cd / m 2. The luminous efficiency is about 30%. The lifetime of a monochromatic lamp is about 50,000 hours. By using the phosphor crystal 3 in this way, the life of the field emission point light source lamp can be extended.
As described above, in an embodiment of the present invention, a field emission point light source lamp is provided with a cathode conductor having a graphite film formed on the surface by a CVD method so as to face an anode conductor having a phosphor crystal attached to the tip on the cathode side. Since the cathode conductor and the anode conductor are housed in the vacuum vessel, a long-life projection light source for a projection type liquid crystal display device can be realized.
According to the present invention, the configuration as described above makes it possible to realize a field emission point light source lamp having a long lifetime that is optimal for a projection light source for a projection type liquid crystal display device. By using a carbon film as the cathode for electron emission, about 10 7 electrons can be taken out per 1 cm 2 . This value is about 10,000 times the conventional number of electrons of 10 3 , which makes it possible to obtain higher brightness than the conventional one. Field emission point light sources have a longer life than halogen lamps because heat generation can be suppressed. It can also be used as an automobile headlamp, a medical lamp, a laser excitation lamp, or a general-purpose lighting device.
