Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately match the tip position of paper with an image position by measuring time required from the generation of a timing signal to be a reference up to the arrival of the paper tip at a paper chip detecting sensor and correcting the paper tip position in each paper feeding port based on a measured value. CONSTITUTION:Paper fed from paper feeding rolls 4a-4c is supplied to a photosensitive drum 1 through a 1st paper sensor 5, a timing roll 6 and a 2nd paper sensor 7 and an image is transferred to the paper. Paper feeding and exposure timing is controlled by a CPU 21, exposure based upon laser beams 2 is started after time (t) from the detection of the tip of the paper fed from the rolls 4a-4c by the sensor 5 and the roll 6 is set up so as to be turned on after time T from the start of exposure. The time required from the previously calculated exposure start up to the ON of the roll 6 is stored in a main memory 25 and the timing of paper feeding or exposure start is corrected in each paper feeding port. Thus, the paper tip position can be accurately matched with the image position.
