Abstract

PURPOSE:To reduce a magnetizing pitch, by building a rotor using an aluminum- manganese-carbon based alloy magnet. CONSTITUTION:The use of an aluminum-manganese-carbon based alloy magnet for a ring magnet 2 of a rotor eliminates changes in dimensions with respect to humidity or almost does with respect to temperature. The ring magnet 2 is machined to the roundness with a lathe or the like after a shaft 1 is fixed by an adhesive material or by press fitting. Hence, the ring magnet 2 can be arranged close to a magnetic sensor 3, for example, with a gap of 0.05mm therebetween, which permits increase in the number of magnetic poles in magnetization to 1024 with the magnetization pitch P set at 0.077mm. As a result, the arrangement of numerous magnetic poles is made possible with a reduction in the pitch P to produce a rotation detector with high resolutions. On the other hand, when the number of magnetic poles in magnetization is fixed, the pitch P can be reduced thereby enabling miniaturization of the apparatus with a smaller outer diameter of the ring magnet.
