Abstract

PURPOSE:To make it possible to protect a turbine immediately and securely at its trip by constantly performing, in advance, the calculation of a by-pass flow rate generated at the trip on the basis of a steam flow rate in a turbine line and the opening of a by-pass valve while a power generating steam turbine is operated. CONSTITUTION:Signals output respectively from a flow sensor 8 for a turbine line 2, and valve opening sensors 9, 10 for by-pass valves 4, 5 are input to a signal processing unit 11, so as to constantly compute therein a valve opening command corresponding to a flow rate fed into by-pass valves 4, 5 at a turbine trip, and then the result is transmitted to a drive control unit 12. The valve opening command at the trip is computed according to the opening of each by-pass valve, valve opening duration - steam flow rate characteristics, a total steam flow rate and the like. When a trip signal is output, the drive control unit 12 outputs command signals for by-pass valve opening to the by-pass valves 4, 5 respectively, so as to immediately drive them until they are opened as predetermined.
