Abstract
PURPOSE:To make it possible to use a laser beam obtained from a semiconductor layer for recording and regenerating by allowing a specific naphthol quinone derivative to be contained in a recording layer as a light absorber. CONSTITUTION:The formula shows a naphthol quinone dyestuff, wherein R<1>, R<2> and R<3> respectively independently represent a straight chain, a branched alkyl radical or a hydrogen atom, and the total number of carbon atoms contained in R<1>, R<2> and R<3> is 4-20. X represents an oxygen atom or sulfur atom. For a support it is preferable to use a transparent plastic substrate, and more preferable are injection-molded polymethyl methacrylate and injection- molded polycarbonate resin substrates which are pre-grooved when injection- molded. Moreover, a 2P pre-grooved resin substrate is especially desirable since it is available at a relatively low price. A compound shown in the formula (I) may be a solution dissolved in a solvent, and such a solvent may be directly applied to a support, i.e. a substrate, or may be used together with a binder. A binder suitable for this purpose is selected from polyester and various types of acrylic resins.
