Abstract

PURPOSE:To obtain the proper exposure to the whole of an object, by separating an image obtained by an imaging means into a plurality of sections and controlling the light emitting energy of an illumination means on the basis of the exposure level obtained by a means measuring the exposure level of each of the sections. CONSTITUTION:The illumination lights emitted from the first and second light source 6a, 6b constituting an extracorporeal light source part 6 are transmitted through a living body 8 to form the optical image in the tisse imaging surface under mucosa of a CCD 13. The image signal read from the CCD 13 at each pixel unit in a time series manner is selected so as to correspond to each of four divided sections of an image 21 to be observed and the exposure level of each of the sections is detected by a level detection circuit 22. The different exposure levels detected at every sections are inputted to an operation means 23 to operate the differences between the exposure levels to input them to a power source part 24. The power source part 24 controls of the light emitting levels of the first and second light sources 6a, 6b so as to minimize the differences between the detected exposure levels at every sections to set them to the optimum values.
