Abstract

PURPOSE:To improve light emission luminousity remarkably by laminating thin film EL element forming layers including a phosphor layer on uneven surface of a glass base. CONSTITUTION:The surface 10a of a glass base 10 is uneven. On the surface 10a formed a transparent electrode layer 21, lower insulation layer 22, phosphor layer 23, upper insulation layer 24, and a back face electrode layer 25. The shapes of the layers are in a zigzag form along the surface 10a, and thus the actual area of the phosphor layer 23 increases and light emission area is also increases effectively in comparison with conventional thin fil EL element. Consequently, the light emission luminousity is remarkably improved. As an example, the luminousity of this element is 2400cd/m<2> in comparison with 2000cd/m<2> bf conventional one.
