Abstract
PURPOSE:To prevent erosion of flowing passage part and development of solidified shell from lower part of a core by making hard refractory of the flowing passage part in the core communicating pouring holes at bottom face of a tundish and also making porous refractory of the part except the flowing passage part. CONSTITUTION:Pouring basin is formed by two cooling rolls 2 and side weirs 1 arranged at both end parts of the rolls. The tundish 6 boring the pouring hole 7 at the bottom face thereof and at the upper part of the pouring basin is set. The core 9 is fixed at lower face side of the bottom part of the tundish 6 and the flowing passages 10 communicating the pouring holes 7 and submerging outlet parts into the pouring basin is formed in the core 9. Molten metal 4 in the tundish 6 is supplied into the pouring basin through the flowing passages 10 and cooled and solidified by rotating the cooling rolls 2 and introduced from gap between both rolls as the cast slab 5. In the above twin roll type continuous casting machine, the flowing passage 10 part in the core 9 is made of the hard refractory 9a to avoid the erosion. Further, at least the part except the flowing passage 10 part in the core 9, where is brought into contact with the molten metal, is made of the porous refractory 9b to prevent the development of the solidified shell from the lower part.
