Abstract
PURPOSE:To measure the insulation resistance of a cable charged with a multiphase alternating current in a convenient way and at high speed, by sampling a direct-current potential of a reference capacitor for measurement and by computing the ratio between the primary differential value and secondary differential value of sample values. CONSTITUTION:A shielding layer of an XLPE cable 5 to be measured is grounded through a grounding switch 21. A measuring apparatus 100 including a microcomputer 27 is connected between the opposite poles of the switch 21. In the measuring apparatus 100, a protector 22 and a reference capacitor Cs for measurement are connected in parallel with the switch 21. A transitional direct-current potential in the capacitor Cs is sampled at a prescribed sampling period, and a primary differential value and a secondary differential value between sample values thus obtained are computed. Moreover, the ratio between these primary and secondary differential values is computed, and resistance value of high resistance or insulation resistance is calculated from the value of the ratio obtained. It is determined whether the result of this calculation is stable within a prescribed threshold value or not, and when it is determined that the result of the calculation is stable within the threshold value, the result of the calculation is outputted as a measured value to a display unit 28.
