PURPOSE:To prevent a catalyst device from corrosion and improve the responsiveness of an exhaust turbosupercharger by arranging the catalyst device in the exhaust passage in the upper course ot the exhaust turbosupercharger and setting the fuel injection period of a fuel injection valve in accelerating out of suction process. CONSTITUTION:A fuel injection valve 6 for supplying fuel in a suction system, exhaust turbosupercharger 11 driven by the energy of exhaust gas and for supercharging intake gas and catalyst device 12 for purifying exhaust gas are provided. This catalyst device 12 is arranged in the exhaust passage 8 in the upper course of the exhaust turbosupercharger 11. The fuel injection period of the fuel injection valve 6 from the time of low speed operation to the time of acceleration is set out ot air intake process. The responsiveness of the exhaust turbosupercharger can be improved preventing the catalyst device from corrosion.
